Comics SYMBIOTE SPIDER-MAN - April 2019

I gotta be the only one reading this lol. Finished last night.

SYMBIOTE SPIDER-MAN #5
I don't even think I can give this an in-depth review lol. Talk about a series starting somewhat solid (imo) to finishing weak. Holy cow. This last issue had NO direction whatsoever. Things just happening arbitrarily. Also, it ended with no real resolve. Something happened with Black Cat and Mysterio that I didn't even understand. Some of the art was hard to read, too. Geez...anyway...

It was cool that Mysterio donned the symbiote, but it was mostly to lend itself to action. Also, I guess the end page hints that the series will pick up again with Hobgoblin? Again, kind of a cool idea but after this series, I think they need a new team to pull it off.

Disappointed.

I passed on the last issue. Started collecting it out of respect for Peter David.
Other then a moment or two this series was just a complete letdown. I couldn’t even finish it off and I usually finish off everything regardless of quality that I start collecting.

There are just so many more exciting happening in the Spider-Verse and especially the X-verse that this series kind of just got lost in the shuffle for me. Judging from your post, I really didn’t miss much.

Yep, I dropped this after the first issue. It just didn't grab me in the way the other spider titles have been. I did read the 2nd issue to check it out and I could see a dip in quality. I was hoping for better simply because PAD was writing this and it honestly should have with him--PAD is one of the better writers that Spidey's had, period. I guess they all can't be winners.

It wasn’t bad, but I’m more interested in the Hobgoblin sequel.

I really wish they would get a little flashier artist than Greg Land. Someone from the time period would be great. Zeck, Frenz, Leonardi.....McFarlane (I can dream,).
