“The original X-Men film began with a prologue that showed the character as a child being led to a concentration camp by Nazis and that is the period in which the Magneto film will take place. This setup will allow a future villain to at least flirt with the designation of protagonist since the character will be seen almost exclusively in his formative years.”

“The storyline will heavily involve Professor X, the wheelchair-using X-Men leader. That character was a soldier in the allied force that liberated the concentration camps. The professor meets Magneto after the war and while they bond over the realisation that they are alike in their special powers, their differences soon turn them into enemies.”

I wish they'd get on with this movie. It doesn't need Goyer directing, unless that was part of the deal.

I don't. I don't want this movie to be made at all.

I would MUCH prefer them to merge the Magneto film with the First Class film.

Use the beginning of the film to establish Lensherr and Xavier, and their relationship. Show them using their common goal to recruit the younger members of the X-Men (Cyclops, Jean, Storm, and Beast, obviously. Bring in Scarlett Witch and Quiksilver as part of the mix. And of course, as a fan, I'd love to see Gambit thrown into the mix as well.)

The conflict that the X-Men face (perhaps Friends of Humanity? An early Sentinel project) would lead to the falling out between Magneto and Xavier, as it would prove, in Magneto's eyes, that mankind is incapable of co-existing with those that are different. Perhaps even have the conflict kill Quiksilver and Scarlett Witch, to further fuel Magneto's rage.

I think a solo Magneto spinoff is rather unnecessary. We get it that he's a survivor of the Holocaust. I don't think a whole hell of a lot needs to go into that.

But merging Magneto with X-Men: First Class would go into further detail of something that probably DOES need a bit more explaining, which would be the relationship and falling out between Magneto and Xavier.

I actually think merging this with X-Men: First Class would kinda overload that film, at least if they plan on giving the X-Men time to shine on their own.

But then again I wonder how big the demand for this film will be. It doesn't even seem like it'll have the advantage of cameos to hold it up as well as X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

... if this were turned into a graphic novel first, have the waters tested... get a top notch artist...

Maybe Magneto: Testament? I don't know how similar to that book this film will be though, nor have I even read that book..

Having Magneto's origins mix with X-Men First Class would be a convoluted mess. After two huge plots were dulled down in X3 people still want that scenario to play through again and again???

Magneto can hold his own film and a character driven movie is needed because I am tired of these dumb popcorn flicks with explosions and vehicle chases. Magneto and Charles have one of the most interesting and dynamic relationships in comics so there is no need to throw in young X-Men. That could be at the end or something.

:up::up::up:

After seeing Wolverine, I'm way more open to a character-driven Magneto film...

It should be focused on Magneto... Really why dont they just make... X-MEN: The Origin...

Detail both Magneto and Xavier's origin briefly because lets face it, from discovering there powers, fighting in war, joining a partnership, that would take what about five seconds in a flashback sequence... It doesnt really need to be overly percific. The rest of the first Act would feature Xavier and Magneto recruiting mutants, briefly the scene from x-men the last stand where they meet jean is seen but doesnt go into the full scene. We see Cyclops and Storm join Xavier... probably Stykers son too. The main focus would be seeing some of the characters that Magneto recruits like Toad and probably Mystique. the second act would be how the school does and a dispute between Magneto and Xavier occures forming a split devide on beliefs, Magneto takes his students and form the brotherhood in doing so Xavier realises the threat and creates the x-men. Act three is really how they deal with each other - leading to the conclusion that whould generally lead to x-men: The Origin

Well they have so much to interweave and intertwine now. With what we know know about the origins of Scott Summers and other characters in the filmverse in X-Men Origins: Wolverine they would have to take all of this into account when they make a Magneto film as well as a First Class film.

The comic book movie renassance pretty much began with a scene of a boy being dragged into a nazi concentration camp. And while it's had it's ups and downs, that was a sign that the Batman Forever era was pretty much over.

If any villain deserves his own origin film, it's Magneto. It's just so rich with adversity and drama and blurs the paths of good and evil so well.

you know, gene shallot (sp?) mentioned this similarly in his wolvie review. He said Xavier and Magneto and the whole metaphor for being a mutant was very thought provoking and both ian and patrick brought a since of sophistication to the franchise that was very obviously missing in Wolverine. And i actually gotta agree with that. And It's also why I really hope Magneto is done well, and done before X-men: First Class, we need a pick me up.

Ok but what does he do in the movie?

“The storyline will heavily involve Professor X, the wheelchair-using X-Men leader.”

The wheelchair-using X-Men leader? They make it seem like his power is using a wheelchair.

So will Professor X be the villain/antagonist or will a new antagonist be introduced???

YAY FOR 2012 focus on X-Men Fox! let F4 go back 2 Marvel!!!!!!!

I think that the movie will just simply define why Magneto believes what he believes. I dont think Xavier will be portrayed as the bad guy, Think of it like Revenge Of The Sith, where Anikin is lead to his emotions getting the better of himan and so we have the birth of Vador. Same will be with Magneto

You will have two characters, the Obi-Won and Anikin Skywalker - as in Charles Xaivier and Eric Lenshire, Charles has a very philosphical head on him and believes in the peaceful way of his beliefs however Eric wants to believe charles but he is also driven by emotion so he acts with charles and on his own as a free agent. and simply by the end of the movie you see why there is a split between them.

This movie NEEDS to be made and this story NEEDS to be told. Why is Fox dragging their feet? It should be next up without question.

I don't think it would work.
Magneto is just too powerfull, with a bit of training he could easily have freed everyone from the camps and also defeated the Nazis all by himself.

Better leave it to everyone's imagination what happened in the meantime.
Trying to put it on the big screen could be very embarassing.

..... lol wow, are you very close minded...

for one.. he was a child, who just discovered his abilities at the camp... had no idea how to use or control them.

second... there's alot of history there that could be very fleshed out.. This is the one movie i would love to see Singer come back to direct... because the way it's set up is his type of intellectual story. There's a whole bunch that could be done, and I don't see where you get half of you're opinion from.

After what happened to X-Men Orgins:Wolverine i do not want a Magneto movie.
