Terminator-2-Judgement-Day-Poster-C.jpg

20 years ago today, one of the biggest movies and most anticipated sequels in history was released. A movie that two decades later has still stood the test of time and always will. A movie that redefined and reshaped the movie industry as we know it and ushered in special effects that for the time were revolutionary and cutting-edge. A movie that was not only a sequel to an already classic movie, but was equal to the original's quality. This movie is of course none other than Terminator 2: Judgment Day.

Here's the thread to celebrate the 20th anniversary of this landmark movie. Share your T2 memories here. I know for sure later I'll be watching it to celebrate the release.

I was 4 at the time when it was released and couldn't obviously see it in the theaters sadly, but I do recall seeing it for the very first time when it premiered on Pay Per View later in 1991 and when we got the VHS, I watched it non-stop. Like so many of my generation at the time, it was a movie that immediately was an instant favorite and one that was rewatched countless times. It was among the movies that inspired me to want to make my own and want to pursue a career in the industry someday and a movie that ignited so much creativity. It's a movie that still holds up for me and never gets old. I admit now I prefer the original Terminator by a fair margin, but T2 is still an amazing movie and still one of my all-time favorites. It's a movie for me that always works on so many different levels. I'm pretty upset it didn't get a theatrical re-release this year to celebrate the occasion, this is a movie I know countless of my generation and even before mine would love to see on the big screen.

Agreed! Come on guys, it's one of the biggest sequels of all time!

Epic Blu-Ray edition available for this.... ?

Not just one of the biggest sequels, one of the biggest movies. Even though I was merely 4 at the time it was out, I can still remember the mammoth hype and anticipation it had at the time, and how it was talked about by everybody.

Here's a fun trip down T2 memory lane, the Kenner toy commercials. I had quite a few of these back then, my favorites being the Secret Weapon Terminator and the electronic 12-inch figure. I always wanted to get the Bio-Flesh Regenerator but sadly never did.

The SkyNet Edition is on Blu-ray and definitely recommended.

My first time seeing it was on ppv also. I used to watch this countless times. I remember the special effects were a huge deal at the time. T2 is one of the best sequels ever and surpasses the original. I haven't watched this in a while but I did purchase the blu ray.

I heard the skynet edition is a better transfer , is this true?

lol those toys look awesome :D

I still have some of them but sadly lost some. I remember how happy I was when I got the Secret Weapon Terminator and the electronic 12-incher.

The SkyNet Edition is the only one I own, so I can't say. But I'd have a hard time imagining it looking any better than it does there.

I finished watching T2 just now to celebrate. It's amazing how it still holds up 20 years later as not only an incredibly entertaining and rewatchable movie, but one that also manages to be intelligent and genuinely emotional at times and still has a good plot with good character development. I prefer the Special Edition of the movie personally, as I enjoy the additional character development, even if the footage does make the movie quite a bit longer.

WTF? How did this sneak up on me? We must celebrate!

I was 13 when this came out, and I remember seeing a teaser trailer on TV for it and being blown away. It just looked like THE coolest film I had ever seen. I was obsessed with it then, and with no internet or web back then I chased every TV, newspaper and magazine article that I could find. Not to mention watching the original Terminator film over and over.

When I finally got round to seeing it, I was not let down ...... loved the film, loved the effects, loved everything about it. And even 20 yrs later, the film still stands up pretty well with the exception of Edward Furlong's dodgy performance.

This is my 2nd favourite film of all time, behind Back To the Future.

I think the reason this thread isn't getting much attention is because it's not popular to like James Cameron anymore.

I wish a theater near me would have a revival screening of this. I'd do just about anything to see this in the theaters. It's one thing to see it time and time again on DVD and Blu-ray and such, but the theater is a whole other experience. I can't imagine the impact this movie had to have on those who saw it back then for the first time in theaters.

I still think the teaser trailer for it (which I posted earlier) is the coolest trailer ever. It gives away virtually nothing about the movie and how often is it a mere trailer actually gives you backstory? It shows how the Endoskeletons are created and assembled.

Didn't Stan Winston direct that thing?

I find myself watching it everytime I pop the DVD in.

I'm pretty sure Winston directed the Endoskeleton teaser.

I saw this in the theater the night before it officially opened (they started doing 9pm showings the night before), and I just remember this guy sitting in front of us who was maniacally laughing every time someone on screen was killed. We were convinced the guy was a serial killer. :wow:

Didn't realize it was the 20th anniversary already.

Agreed. I was a teenager, a budding bodybuilder, and after seeing T1, Predator and Total recall...Arnold was my God by this point. The Terminator, which I had caught on HBO a few years before, was probably my favorite movie at the time.
I first saw that teaser on a VHS copy of Total Recall, and my mind about exploded! That was one of the first teasers I remember being original footage, not clips from the movie. Those are always the best trailers.
And thank God the film didn't disapoint. Saw it 3 times in the theater. Even drug my reluctant parents to the movie and they loved it. I had (and still have posters). A local video store had a cardboard standee of that movie poster with him on the bike which I ended up with. Yes, the Terminator guarded my room. lol I remeber disassembling it to take it home and had the Terminator riding shotgun, with his shotgun barrel sticking out of the passenger window. lol!
There are some movies, that no matter how entertainment technology changes, I will always have a copy of. This is one of them.

This is my 5th favorite movie of all-time after Empire Strikes Back, Raiders of the Lost Ark, The Dark Knight & Die Hard. It's such a great movie & easily one of the best action movies ever created. I think it's a shame that none of the sequels could hold a candle to this great film.

I remember all of the merchandise this movie had at the time of it's release. This was during the time when R-rated movies could have toylines and other merchandise aimed at kids. The good old days. I had a bunch of the Kenner action figures and also remember T2 Halloween costumes and IIRC didn't they even have lunchboxes and backpacks, too?

The part where John Connor is wlaking in the back part of the mall and Arnold is walking in slow motion pulling the shotgun out of the flower box is so damn badass. Always has been and it always will be.

I actually didn't see this movie in its full, unedited form until a couple years ago (I had seen it on TV before, but edited and with commercials). Definitely one of my favorite action movies.

You work in the cinema industr?
I watched this the last year and i found it incredible but the only thing that doesn't hold to today's standards was T-1000 falling in the fire

I don't have anything to say other than I really like this movie.
