Tangled may not be as popular as Frozen or Moana but it's probably more popular than Snow White with today's audiences.

What I want to know is, when Lilo and Stitch and the live action Moana become hits, what then? They're just going to go full steam ahead with this.

Realistically though, they took a big swing with Pocahontas back in the day. Hunchback too but at least that one was based on a work of fiction. I'd still watch a live action Hunchback adaptation under the right circumstances but I don't think they'll ever revisit Pocahontas.

They really did. I still laugh at a memory of my teachers in elementary telling us the real story about Pocahontas and not to fall for that singing mess.

But Drizzy... if they had the balls to really do Hunchback and not hold back and give us an epic live action version of Hellfire, that could be huge.

With the right creatives behind it, Frollo would definitely be an Oscar winning role.

I presume if they don’t cancel it they’re just overhauling or starting it over.

It’s probably for the best when Snow White cost 350 million dollars (NY Times) because of reshoots and poor choices.

Casting Gal Gadot and making her sing was a mistake.

I mean they could take the story, set it on another planet, make her a blue and a warrior…

I feel like that would be a 2 billion dollar hit idk.

There’s a lot of really good potential for a live action adaptation of that, particularly if they adapted parts of the musical. Plus, an opportunity for them to actually go to France and use actual real life buildings and locations where they can.

Also, much more topical, so I think it would hit and resonate more.

Really they could keep everything as is from the movie but add some extra songs from the musical and tone the gargoyles down. Like waaaayyyy down. They could still be in it but maybe as more serious characters and not "we have to have the standard Disney goofy sidekick song here otherwise the movie is too dark".

It's always been my belief that they made "Pocahontas" to hype the Disney's America history theme park that they planned to build in Virginia. Then the park plans got scrapped after public outcry, and the movie just got thrown out there on its own. And I agree that they will never do anything else with that property.

As for Hunchback, I agree that the gargoyles would need to be heavily revamped for a live action version. To me it always seemed like they belonged in a different movie. They didn't fit the rest of the story at all, even though the voice actors all did a great job.

So were they planning on casting Zegler for Rapunzel too, or is this a tacit admission that she wasn’t actually the problem that Disney tried to make her out to be?
