The Dark Knight TDK Casting Sides

Also, the mayor mentioned to Randolph that he would get away with it because the public likes him but I don't think Dent would have been in Gotham that long to gain that much public affection. Gordon, on the other hand...

I think we've been assuming the "The Chief" is Gordon because we all know he's going to be Commissioner but Gordon was only promoted to Lieutenant at the end of Begins.

Chief = Commissioner Loeb
Gannon = Dent
Randolph = Gordon?

Dude.....it's more than that. Read the "James" pages and put two and two together ok? Thats how detective work of this rationel works.

Regardless, heres something else i've realized that makes SOOOO much more sense, but it's something that we've heard non sides so it's a differant kind of spoiler ----

Prosecuter = Rachel Dawes. All the lines come off a lot like how she was in Begins. Forcefull and straight to the point. Not afraid to call people out on a moment's notice.

And then Rossi goes to throw acid at her and Dent, who's not mentioned in those pages. Jumps in the way to save her. Dent gets scarred and because Batman is the one who gives Rachel all her suspects, he blames Batman for putting her in danger and etc etc.

Just an idea though.

Obviously WB has lost the rights to batman and are being forced to make the movie without using any of the real names?

Have u ever read a Batman comic? Or watched BTAS?

Harvey Dent, aka Apollo was so greatly recieved by the public. Just the way he conducted himself, his idealist ways, he got the job done. They loved him right away.

Not to mention Eckhart is great at playing that type = Thank You For Smoking. He's the bad guy but the "hero" of the movie, and you like him immediatly.

But he has to have had enough public affection to have been ELECTED District Attorney.

I read all the sides, Anjow, and it's not really detective work..all we're doing is speculating off tiny morsels of info.

I think "James" was thrown in there to throw people off. I had a feeling Maroni was too (but Jett confirmed Maroni was in). Why go through all that trouble to change all these names but leave James and Maroni in? Strange...

The reason why I don't think James is Gordon's son is I really doubt a few years has passed in between movies. Batman said he'd "look into" the Joker card at the end of Begins. So, a few years pass and Batman still hasn't caught the Joker? That's really piss poor detective for 'ol bats though. Also, there was a report from VH1.com (not the greatest source), but they did mention that the script for TDK picks up right where BB ended.

Ever seen that movie "The Santa Clause"? with Tim allen?

The little kid has a nice point during the movie when he tells his step dad "Just because you don't see it, doesn't mean it isn't there"

Gordon's son could very well have been off screen during Begins. In fact, I almost garuntee it. He had no necessity to the plot whatsoever. So why have him? They needed to show Gordon's wife and infant to establish that he has a family. But that doesn't necessarily mean that he only has one kid. Or that the same infant has grown up.

It's Gordon's son.

Cuz Loeb hates Batman and theres no reason to make Loeb a compassionate character. Not to mention we know he's gonna get aced somehow to Gordon can move up in the ranks. No sense in developing his character. He's there for pure "realistic" ranking. Someone Gordon has to answer to. Even if he's in the movie at all.

I'm not that familiar with the justice system in the US, what's the minimum amount of time it would take for a new DA to be appointed?

I'm torn between wanting some months to have past for Batman to have developed his skills, and missing out on the mayhem of the immediate aftermath of the fear gas cleanup.

Hey man, you're preaching to the choir. I'm a comic book geek. I own a limited edition Batman watch that I show EVERYbody. I watched every single episode of BTAS (at lease 3 times..I used to record it on VHS to watch it again), Batman Beyond, JL, and JL Unlimited.

I KNOW that Harvey is a likeable guy and that's why his fall from grace is so tragic. I'm questioning why they would use two names for the same person. They haven't done that for any of the other sides...unless we're all wrong and Gannon isn't Dent.

Well seeing as Finch got taken out, i'd assume a position opened up rather quickly in the court system.

Not to mention we have no clue if the events of Begins happen in an election year or not.

I don't think Gannon is Dent. I mean he could. For all we know, Randolph could be a way of saying "Dent" and Gannon is a way of saying "harvey"

Ok, Detective Anjow on the hunt......

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ganon

Check that out and read the character description.

"Ganondorf" was given as the character's original name in A Link to the Past (while he was a human thief), and the humanoid Ganondorf of Ocarina of Time was known exclusively by that name, up until his transformation at the end of the game. In some cases, this name has been used to refer to the character's human form, while the name "Ganon" is used to describe his bestial pig-like form.

Is Jonathon Nolan a big Zelda fan maybe?

Ever hear of a couple of books called "Year One" and "TLH". Supposedly, there the inspiration for Nolan's movies. (I own both by the way). Jim only has one kid.

Also, cut the condescending tone.

First of all, on the internet, type can be construted any way "you" want to percieve it.

I'll give you a condescending sentance --- with 7 posts under your belt, you are a n00b. Idc how long u've lurked or w/e, n00bes have a history of saying stupid things without reading into what's been said already and just being plain ignoramus. Is it a sucky thing? Yep. But we've all had to go through it, so suck it up. Don't go around acting like u've got the answer. Not saying I do, but still. 7 posts doesn't help ur claim, it hurts it. Nothing against you personally, just ur status my friend.

And secondly, Nolan does take cue from Year one, and TLH. Sure. But theres tons of Batman mythos going on and Jonathon Nolan knows a lot about all of it. And he wrote the screenplay, so he definatly added stuff in that he wanted.

About Dent - he was mentioned in the original BB script (lines later cut) so I'm assuming he's supposed to have already been in Gotham - unless they've revised that and he was rushed in to take over from Finch.

Miranda you wouldn't happen to have a copy of the early draft would you?

we still don't know the timeline between Begins and TDK. The Chief appears to be Gordon since he was in that scene with James, who is Gordon's son. Randolph has a few scenes and kinda makes me think that he's in law enforcement. However, that new side really makes me think Dent. But so did Gannon. I'd have to guess Dent is both based on the dialogue.

Right - this would make Finch possibly an Executive ADA (like Jack McCoy on Law & Order), who would report directly to Harvey Dent.

Just a thought...

I know I'm a noob around here, posting wise (been lurking since '01). What I say may not have much weight but I think I made some valid points. What's wrong with some speculation from another angle? How does that come off as "acting like I have the answer"? No one really knows anything until we have a script leak or we watch the movie.

Miranda comes through again. Wow

would have been a nice little throw in.
