The Dark Knight TDK Casting Sides

OMG, grrrr, this is me angry.

I am not on a high GD horse. All i'm saying is, that MANY not ALL, MANY n00bes have a tendancy to be ******s and need to be smacked down should stupid things come out there mouths as to save all us the problem of repeating stupid things and explaining things and going back in to old arguments that we've settled on.

I'm not saying that all n00bes are morons. Just that when someone new says something stupid it's a pain in the ass.

And another thing. Gordon is called "the chief" in one of those scenes - indicating he's been further promoted up the chain. That must happen sometime in THE DARK KNIGHT, or it happened in the time following BEGINS and prior to THE DARK KNIGHT.

could be AgentSands, or just an allude to what we all know is coming for him down the road.

While this is gonna be a tough movie for Bats to make it through, I do believe this will be Gordon's finest 2 hours. Anyone know what rank is right below commish? Cuz that's prolly what he is by the start of the film.

lol, I'm not trying to be immature man. But you cannot honestly say that n00bes don't have a history of saying stupid things. Usually as post counts get higher, regardless of "lurking time" they wise up, catch on to more things, don't repeat ideas that have already been brought up and most.....not all.....but most stop smoking whatever it is they are when they come in and stop randoming off crackpot ideas.

Listen here, Anjow.

Just because I'm a new poster does not mean I'm new to the board, to Batman, or to the idea of what the sides represent. I'm not repeating anyone elses ideas, and just because you may not agree with what I'm posting does not make my opinions "crackpot".

Your brand of negativity, to me, rings of inferiority/insecurity...you can't categorize me, because you were a "noob" once yourself, and if someone spouted off to you the way you are doing here -- first of all, I'm sorry -- but don't take it out on anyone else. I've seen a picture of you on BOF ("the Jow Scowl"...ugh...a face even a mother would have second thoughts of loving), and you look at least 20...which would make you an adult, so behave like one.

Sorry to have to stoop to your level, but some people just need to be told sometimes.

Now then, if we're all back on Earth, let the real discussion continue...

Listen hear, Anjow.

What's that? The sound of hypocrisy I hear?
I'll be the bigger man here, yes, and let this drop. Because while my "immature" rantings about n00bes was that, about n00bes, i did not revert to personal attacks. Which IMO, is the lowest you can get. Lower than whatever "insecurity/inferiority" complex I may have.

But w/e, back to the bat....

Let's stop the flaming before the mods get here.
And to think I was talking about all the love on these boards just yesterday
*sighs heavily, opens drinks cabinet*

I think the Chief in the sides are actually two people throughout the course of the movie: Commissioner Loeb & Commissioner Gordon. I also think that Randolph = Gordon and Loeb gets killed, presumably by the Joker.

In the recent script excerpt that Miranda posted for us, the mayor and Randolph are having a conversation about the recent 800 arrests and Randolph mentions that he had asked the chief to make these arrests. Two separate people, right?

In the other except where the mayor is on the radio show, the mayor says something along the lines of "the chief assured me that" and then he gets cut off by Engel asking "so how is Randolph doing?" They're the same person now??

I'll take a rum and coke.

Hold the rum.

Hey, JL. Thanks for the heads up, but I do understand how the sides work. I'm just saying that if you look at the scene in the context I suggested, it sure makes an awful lot of sense.

Also, if the cop is interrogating the thug about where his boss is ("the joke's on you..."), that would indicate to me that Mr. J was still at large. Now, I know this isn't even close to a treatment, let alone a script, there would have to be a significant excerpt missing for the prisoner to be Mr. J, which is why I was thinking Dr. Crane ("I know the difference between punks who need a lesson in manners...and the freaks like you who would just enjoy it.")...

Unless Mr. J gets captured on purpose (ala Jigsaw) to relish in full delight of the grander scheme at hand...still possible, but...

What does everybody else think?

Anyone?

Another one of my ramblings (please bear with me)......

All those complaints about the 'tired' repeated, plot of 'Gotham City in peril' seem to forget that IS the point of the Nolanverse (heh, I like that...)

In BB, we followed the 'birth' of Batman - we saw his origins, struggles and motivations.

Bruce became Batman after learning the difference between justice and vengeance - his reason for choosing justice was the 'mission' of saving Gotham City (He brings ORDER to the world, i.e. the city). That's the same message he tells Gordon right at the end of the film - 'We CAN bring Gotham back'.

In TDK, we have Batman's opposite - The Joker. In order for him to be the reverse, he'll probably have NO origin, no explanation for his motivations - he could commit crimes for an overall reason, but there is no clear pattern for what he does. He brings CHAOS to Gotham City.

Besides, a $150M 'intimate' comic-book movie from WB? After Superman Returns? Yeah, right!

Good point.

Rory gets Laid (great name by the way), here's a list of all the sides that they're auditioning for. They only list the names of the character in each script excerpt that haven't been casted yet. So characters like The Chief, Kennedy (Bruce?), Prosecuter (Dent/Rachel), Gannon, Randolph, The Prisoner (Joker), Avenger (Batman), Wuertz (Flass/Bullock?), Faulkner (Bruce/Fox?), Mike Engel, Mask Wearing Thug (Joker), and Maroni are not listed below.

Roles Bank Manager
$ 1.00 Bartender
$ 1.00 Berg
$ 2.00 Bodyguard/Junkie
$ 1.00 Brian
$ 1.00 Cop (Terrorized)
$ 1.00 Cop/Thug
$ 2.00 Dealer/Buyer
$ 1.00 Detective/Fat Thug
$ 1.00 Evans
$ 1.00 Grumpy/Chuckles
$ 1.00 James
$ 1.00 Judge Salizar
$ 2.00 LFI VP
$ 1.00 Mayor
$ 2.00 Mistress
$ 1.00 Natascha
$ 1.00 National Guard Cmdr./Businessman/Mother
$ 1.00 Rossi
$ 2.00 Stephens
$ 2.00 SWAT Leader
$ 1.00 Tattooed Prisoner/Warden
$ 1.00 Vigilante

The $ values are interesting here; the Dealer/Buyer and the Bodyguard/Junkie sides have 2$ values, whereas the Grumpy/Chuckles only has a $1 value.

Just a thought, but could this mean that they are actually only casting for one of those two roles? If so, it would give a little more validity to my Chuckles = (a masked) Mr. J theory...

What does everybody else think?

I'd really like to hear everyone's opinions in regards to this.

Reading over the list, I realized I forgot that Rossi was included as one of the sides. So, Rossi isn't the Joker? I always thought the scene between Rossi and the prosecutor was the famous Dent scarring courtroom scene.

I think it would make more sense if Rossi is Maroni's right hand man, and the whole trial is a set up by the mob to get rid of Dent.

In this scenario, Dent and Rossi would cut some kind of immunity deal where Rossi agrees to testify against his old boss, but really Rossi would still be loyal to Maroni. Rossi throws something in that glass of water he took a sip of, a chemical reaction takes place, he flings it at Harvey, and it all hits the fan.

One thing that always bugged me about TLH is that Dent can't call Maroni to testify against himself. (The Fifth Amendment says so). Adding this Rossi wrinkle remedies that problem without really affecting the Maroni/Dent dynamic, as Maroni would still be behind the scarring.

So ok,

One scene that litterally no one has discussed is the school bus scene. Joker and his men have kidnapped little kids on a school bus and Gordon gives the order to go in and try and save them.

Anyone else have thoughts on that one?

Actually, i believe that list is misaligned. If i'm not mistaken, every name of the list should be shifted down once. For example, Berg is $2, not Bodyguard/Junkie. So is Judge Salizar, the Mayor, and Rossi.

Now that's a good idea. I could definatly see the mob setting up their own trial after Dent orders 800 arrests.

And that would make sense too, seeing as people like the mayor have a bigger part/more scenes.

Thanks for the heads up on that one. :cwink:

I still say Chuckles is Mr. J in a ski-mask, pre-robbery.
