The Dark Knight TDK no.15 on Empire's top 500 movies ever poll

That's impressive. Those are damn quality movies on that list.

BB is 81 and I have no problem with Godfather Part 1 taking No1 spot.

load of BS, BB in top 100, I was flicking through the 500-400 & there were so many films which deserved so much higher let alone higher than BB, & come back in 3 years & TDK won't be that high, not trying to be negative since I love it but even i see its far from perfect let alone a top 20 kinda film. But hey at least all the good Batman films made it into the top 500 :D

Well, like I said, it was voted for by readers. There may be thousands of films 'better' than BB (and there really are), but if more people prefer BB to them then that's where it'll place.

Is there a text list? There's too much clicking involved to see the whole thing.

Glad to see that Raiders was so high up.

So the number two movie of all time is Indiana Jones and number three is Star Wars. Give a freaking break.
They were good entertainment but i think that there were films much deeper than those that deserved those spots simply because they touched our souls.

The Exorcist is about 200-300 which is BS, glad Singin' In The Rain was so high up.

Anyway Batman 89 and Batman Returns are in the 400-500 group

But no two film franchises have affected pop culture more than those two.

empire says the dark knight came out in 2007...?
its cool to see it in the top 15....although this list really doesnt matter haha...its still awesome though

Very sexy list. Does anyone know where requiem for a dream is on this list?

^ it's in there somewhere. Around halfway I think.

Edit - that was addressed at maxtrico.

What I like about this list is there's a surprising number of films I've never heard of. I've got stuff to catch up on.

Eh the top 5 could have been better. Raiders and Shawshank are too high and Ben Hur, The Deer Hunter, Full Metal Jacket, Memento are way to low

I have no problem with TDK being on the list but 15th place!? C'mon, it doesn't nearly deserve to be up that high.

That list is terrible. Indiana Jones and The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull is 453? Why is it on the list in the 1st place? And this is coming from an enormous Indy fan. Very strange choices. IMO they realized 500 was too big a number to rank movies so they slacked off a bit.

BB was in the top 100 too. Remember that this was voted for mostly by the mag's readers:

Yet again, I'll add that this was a reader's poll. It wasn't decided by the magazine.

Nice, especially considering how short a time it's been out (some people mst have voted before seeing it). I'm guessing it's place is more down to the amount of fans that voted for it in an empire poll (though apparently the rankings are based on a number of factors- votes by the public, industry honchos etc).

Kinda disappointed i found out TDK's ranking though. I would've been pleasently surprised by how high it got when I opened my new issue tomorrow otherwise...

Sorry.
Well that makes more sense then. People have an *ahem* "acquired" taste when it comes to the best movies I guess.

How seriously should anyone really take this list though? I mean there are some really sh,itty movies on that list. Full Metal Jacket #457? Behind (just to name a few) Krystal Skull, Unbreakable, Peter Jackson's King Kong, Phantom Menace, etc. etc. ect. Now some of those movies aren't all that bad but better than Full Matal Jacket?

This is just one example too. There are countless examples of better movies bieng ranked behind lesser movies. So how seriously can we take this list?

I guess it's cool to see TDK #5 all-time anyways but it just a popularity contest. Nothing more. I think at this point it is pretty clear that TDK is a very popular movie. We don't need this kinda biased list to prove it.
