The Dark Knight TDK Opening Bat Scene

Yeah I hope movie3 ends in absolute chaos and then the title comes up: Gotham City

I think we'll see basically the same thing. For one I think it will be a larger image with a more desaturated bluish or grayish sky and I think the bats will form the logo but they will come from a different direction. Maybe they will swarm the screen from behind us or they will come at us and in greater numbers rather than just from the right to the left of the screen.

I hope it stays the same as Begins. This could be what the 'gunbarrel sequence is to the Bond flicks'. It could become trademark for a Batman film.

I think that, staying in the spirit of what this film is already said to be like, that it will have pretty much the same opening (with the bats swarming and then the logo), however, I do not think it will have the red/brown background and the theme. I think it will be a dark sky, with more ominous music over it to give the impression that this movie will be darker. I do like the idea of a purplish/greenish background too though, sounds pretty cool I guess.

Hey fellow Bat-fans,

I'm new to this side of the forums... but I know Norman and Sushi, etc.

ANYWAYS...

I was kinda curious.. after listening to the opening track of the "Begins" score, and thinking of the opening scene, with the bats quickly forming the Bat-logo and such.

Would you want this same opening, or a different one altogether for "The Dark Knight"?

I'd personally prefer that they keep the bats forming the logo, and possibly that same opening track you hear with the sweeping sounds. It just seems necessary. Kinda like the Spider-Man openings with that beam that was red, then blue, etc., and still kept the same opening theme.

Thoughts?

I want the same opening music and bats forming. It will give the audience a great sense of continuity.....unlike the previous films. If anything should be considered....then perhaps the background color of the bats forming.

I say literally have the same beginning as Begins except have the background in the sky perhaps a cool blue/light gray. I think that the most amazing part of the beginning was the WB logo and DC logo actually. All in black and white and set to the booming first track. Just hearing those drums and vibrations prepare you something epic. I say keep the exact same beginning musical track along with the monochrome Wb and DC, then you can do something a little different with the Bats.

I'm in favor of keeping the bats thing and the logo, and changing the background. Preferably the city scape of Gotham.

I think TDK opening weekend will be around 50 - 60M.

Agreed. But, someone brought up a good point. The bats forming symbolized the Batman BEGINS idea. So, I think they should do something similar but different at the same time.

^ exactly that's what i was saying. It's a heavy handed symbolism for birth, beginning, introduction etc. An opening should set the tone for the flick and in BB it builds anticipation and mystery.

TDK should should begin with tension like we're already in the midlde of something thick. I like the bats but they don't need to be forming once again.

Just go straight into a series of hectic, grimey street scenes with the same ominous score. Reveal the bat signal as the music peaks, and then the signal breaks up into a swarm of bats.

- Black & White WB logo… followed by DC comics logo… same opening music plays.

- As before, the bats fly across the screen, but this time there is a PURPLE tint to the film instead of the slight orange.

- We fade into the Bat signal up in the night clouds.

- Batman taps on the glass.

BATMAN: “Nice.”

GORDON: “I couldn’t find any mob bosses.”

BATMAN: “Well, sergeant?”

GORDON: “No, it’s lieutenant now. You really started something. Bad cops running scared. Hope on the streets.”

BATMAN: “But?”

GORDON: “The narrows is lost. And we still haven’t picked up Crane or half the inmates of Arkham that he freed.”

BATMAN: “We will. We can bring Gotham back.”

GORDON: “What about escalation?”

BATMAN: “Escalation?”

GORDON: “We start carrying semi-automatics, they buy automatics. We start wearing Kevlar, they buy armor-piercing rounds.”

BATMAN: “And?”

GORDON: “And, you’re wearing a mask, and jumping off rooftops. Take this guy… armed robbery, double homicide, has a taste for the theatrical, like you… leaves a calling card.”

(Joker card)

BATMAN: “I’ll look into it.”

GORDON: “I never said thank you.”

BATMAN: “And you’ll never have to.”

(Batman flies down the building, spreads his cape and he flies by the screen. Everything immediately goes BLACK and SILENT).

BEGIN “THE DARK KNIGHT”, without any opening titles.

^ I kinda like it. Its cool cause in BB when the screen went black it said Batman Begins, now you have the exact same scene but with The Dark Knight, and it ties in nicely. However I have my own plot ideas that involve a "Nolan" twist. Here's my beginning.

Vespertilio plays (beginning theme from Begins).

Waner Bros. in Monochrome.

DC in Monochrome.

A swarm of Bats fly across the screen set to a bluish-tinted sky. The Bats never really make the symbol, they just swirl a little and then all fly right into the screen as they fade/transform into a view Gotham City Streets ala how they transformed into Bruce's garden in Begins.

We see Rachel running again, yet this time she is older and is running into and alley, a dead end. She stops and turns around, a terrified look on her face.

RACHEL: Please don't. How could you do this? How could you...

GUN SHOT ECHOES and a dark figure who cannot be identified walks over and kneels at her body.

We see a gloved hand pull out something and place it on the ground. The mysterious figure walks away.

Camera slowly zooms to the object on the ground and it is revealed as a Joker card. Camera gets right up close to the Joker card as there is a white flash and we see Gordon hand Batman the Joker card in Begins. The scene plays through Batman flies towards the screen and then it says The Dark Knight.

Anyways thats how I see it. I don't want the whole Gordon scene, just the ending. Now it may seem a little weird with Rachel and everything but that is how I want it as I have a whole plan for how the movie plays out with Rachel's murder, Joker's trial and such. If you want to hear about it, let me know.

I'm almost 72% sure the movie won't start with "The Dark Knight" visible anywhere.

I'm just not sure how Nolan will incorporate it at the end like he did with 'Batman Begins'. TDK will have to have a killer ending scene that would be "SCREAMING" for it to have the title at the end.

If it ends like 'The Empire Strikes Back', with a downbeat ending, that would be dark. Joker on the loose, Harvey in hospital (or Two-Face unleashed), and Batman being hunted by the police - that kind of ending would have a tremendous cliffhanger, with great anticipation for part three ('Batman on a Plane'), and truly deserve the title 'The DARK Knight'.

I don't think it'll end with Harvey in the hospital... I thought he was supposed to be fine for this movie, and at the beginning of the third movie, the trial would begin, therefore he becomes Two-Face in the third movie.

Well, Aaron Eckhart has said some things that would seem to suggest otherwise.

For that matter, the casting sides we've seen have an elected official in the hospital, recovering, with the Mayor asserting that he'll be back on the job in no time (paraphrasing).

This would definitely seem to suggest Harvey in the hospital...

Which would totally make my day. I don't think we need Two-Face unleashed until Part 3, as I'd like to get to know Harvey first. But having it end with him in the hospital? BRILLIANT.

Looking at the sides and the bank robbery scene that we pretty much all agree is the Joker when he kills the bank manager(or so I believe), I believe that will be how the movie starts off. I think it will be the tie in from BB to TDK. At the end Gordon gives the speech about the new criminal doing a robbery double homocide. I just get the feeling that may be how the movie opens.

I thpught i posted this but i think it should show batman getting suited up and alfread comes down and askes about if he is coming up cause the new house is built and a house warming party or something to show that there is the new wayne manor dose any1 know what i mean?

Holy crap. You're good. :eek::up:

I love that comparison every time I see it. Empire is my favorite Star Wars movie because it is dark and has no resolution. Jedi was too campy for me and New Hope was good but Empire built on it and made the series what it is, that is what I want from TDK.
