effin sweet mane.
so there isn't one picture/statue of the joker at all??!? Lame.OK- so since I went to Six Flags yesterday pretty much with the hope and anticipation to go on this ride, here is my story:
Woke up very early yesterday and logged onto these forums(as is now a habit)...Waited for my friends to arrive so we could leave, and decided to put on my Batman symbol belt buckle, and stash something in my pocket for when I get on the line to the ride...
Fast forward past the long drive(filled with lots of TDK talk and hype), and I get to the park, but don't shoot straight to the coaster- had to hit up Nitro and El Toro first to get my adrenaline streaming...
It begins to drizzle, so in my mind it becomes the perfect time to go and hit up the new indoor coaster, but I stop into the DC heroes gift shop first to kid around with the 'Justice League' actors that they have out front...Flash, Batman, Green Lantern and WW...All nice people under the suits, I hung around and cracked jokes for a few and checked out what TDK merch the store had inside- NOTHING...Just a few lame generic batman shirts- most trying to be like 'Affliction' or have that tatted vibe to them, like everything does nowadays...
I go into the Dark Knight coaster now, and it's completely EMPTY...No line, no wait...The employees seem unenthused and really zap alot of my anticipation right out from my soul...The 'HARVEY DENT PRESS CONFERENCE' video is playing on the line queue, and although there's noone there- I still decide to lounge around with my buddies to get the full ride experience and watch it...Very cool news clip at first in the style of a nightly news anchor broadcast...
Some lady reporting on the current climate of Gotham and the crime rate...She reports a huge pile-up on the Gotham freeway due to the highjacking of a big rig containing amusement park equipment(TOTALLY SWEET and a great hint at a possible angle for Joker to have his own carnival in the film)...This really got me more into the vibe, as did the room I was watching it in...Totally Gotham themed, complete with a subway system map, advertisements and ads for 'Gotham Taxi', as well as Joker spraypaint all over the walls with catchphrases and 'HA HA HA's, along with flashing lights in the vein of Joker...
Aaron Eckhart, surprisingly, actually put alot of effort into a theme-park ride motivated clip, and his acting was on par as Harvey(didn't expect much less)...His press conference is brief, but he speaks on all the stuff mentioned previously by those who reviewed it, and I LOVED when Joker hacked into the feed, Re-mixing Harvey's message and splicing in his own sick clips from black and white movies from the late 40's and such...This part was brilliantly done, if they put as much into the rest of the ride as they did to this- we'd have an epic coaster on our hands...After the video ends, and the 'WHY SO SERIOUS' and cackling Joker laugh echo through the waiting room, I make my way toward the actual carts, and on the way up the ramp, there is the screen with the CGI that turns your face into Joker-thug masks...It was at this point that I pulled my secret weapon out of my pocket- a domino mask from a Robin costume that I had from a few years ago...Seeing as how I'm a completely random and humorous guy, this didn't surprise my friends at all, as they started laughing hysterically...I got some very strange looks from the employees- but I enjoyed my get-up, regardless....As I made my way up to the loading of the carts and the track, I saw scattered signature Joker cards all over the floor...The fanboy in me was licking his chops at the idea of obtaining one, and I almost tried to jump over a rail, and slide under a fence that they had blocking these displays off just to get one, while the Security Guard wasn't looking...
In my friends' eyes- this, of course set me over the edge into a crazed fan of Batman...But I'm not ashamed...The employees saw some random kid in a Robin mask on the ground trying to snag some Joker-paraphanalia, and told me I had to load the cart, and to stop trying to steal their ride decorations(hehe)...So I get on the cart, which was modeled to look like a GCR(Gotham City Rail) train cart...Going up the lift, there were lights that looked like a dimly lit city rail staircase leading down to the waiting area...All of it was decorated pretty intricately...I enjoyed some parts, but overall it was just 'The Wild Mouse' in the dark...Turns were lame, there was only one drop- where I almost subsequently separated my shoulder because I wasn't expecting it at all...
Going through the ride a 2nd, 3rd and fourth time- it grew on me a bit...I noticed the Batman statue at the start of the coaster, and how cool it looked with the light flashing off of it, with his batarang in hand, in a crouching pose looking totally badass(would look great in the corner of my room)...Then the screens with the Joker goons(stupid idea, shoulda just been anamatronic mannequins) that were shooting at you as you pass by...Noticed the 'sLaughter is the Best Medicine' truck, and enjoyed the complexity of how they went into trying to tell the story with this quick, simple ride for the kiddies...At the end, there was a mannequin of a Joker goon shooting a rocket launcher like Mr. J does in the trailer- but I studied it three or four times- sadly it was not a model of the man himself, just a goon with a mask(shoulda been him, honestly)...All the while the same two or three Joker voice clips are playing, got a bit repetitive and old- but still pretty cool and haunting...
Overall, a very 'meh' ride- but an excellent cinematic experience...It had potential to be like the 'Spider Man' ride in Universal Islands of adventure, or could been a great 3-d experience ala Terminator or Back to the Future...Just lost all of its build-up when the ride sucked, and the overall lack of a storyline to go with the great setup video and what they had to work with from the Bat-universe...I wouldn't recommend going to Great Adventure from far across the country for this ride ALONE...but it is a must for those who happen to go to the park this summer, and are Bat-fans, or just starving for some TDK to hold them over until July...If i get pics of myself in costume, or of the many pics I took on the ride from my friend today- I'll post them...Just wanted to inform you guys of my experience...
NOPE...Not even a single IMAGE of Heath's joker...Not even on any shirts they sold in the park, either...It's eerie how his voice resounds through the entire ride but you never see him, though...Almost like a ghost...so there isn't one picture/statue of the joker at all??!? Lame.
I don't get you guys who think it looks like crap... it looks pretty sweet to me. :P

Anyone who goes to the ride should take pics of the merchandise store after the ride...they might have cool exclusive stuff![]()
Complete and total truth...Hype for the film did not equal out to a great experience of a ride...Go ride it like I and PurpleSocks have done, then your opinion will change. A ride made for such a badass anticipated film, should have been made amazingly, instead it was toned down and a true dissapointment.
Dude did you go to Six FLags Great Adventure or another one? Cause in NJ they had four TDK shirts for adults: one was Black with TDK The Ride symbol on it, the same one in Blue, they had one with a metallic TDK logo bat symbol, then they had one with the promotional art we've been seeing alot lately, the painted style stuff. The kids shirts, they had four all with the promo painted style stuff, one with bats on the bat-pod, one with him and the tumbler, and then two with just Bats swinging through Gotham. Plus again they had a promo poster for the film inside the JL store and it had atleast 5 stills of Heath as the Joker including one that wasnt official, a manip of him made before we even saw an official pic, the one with him as the joker in the straight jacket.Complete and total truth...Hype for the film did not equal out to a great experience of a ride...
And I checked out all the merch in the store- no ACTUAL dark knight merch- just generic bat-symbol T-Shirts...
They all look like Affliction/Miami Ink shirts with the tattoed designs, skulls, etc...Made no sense- only one red 'Gotham City' shirt caught my eye...They had the deluxe action cape batman figure- and a bunch of the kiddie toy batmans and destructo case jokers...The only thing I saw and actually WANTED was some advertisement/cardboard poster with clips from the film of Bats/Joker that had the tagline "Not all Jokes are funny..."
I really wanted to steal that from the giftshop...SERIOUSLY...
Yeah, the one in NJ is the one I went to- just yesterday afternoon...That above stated promo poster is the amazing one I was speaking of...But I only saw 2 or 3 shirts for TDK COASTER- which I seriously didn't want because I wouldn't wanna advertise a rolling heap of crap...Dude did you go to Six FLags Great Adventure or another one? Turst me, I scoured the store- but found no shirts with actual movie footage or imagery...Maybe they sold out of them in the past few days and decided to replace them with the rest of their generic merch until they get their next shipment in(because I believe shipments come in Sat/Sun) and their stuff sells like hotcakes at that park...I was hoping they had some new, exclusive stuff with Joker on it- cause I wanted to snag some for myself...
Yeah, but I still got the symbol shirts I bought from BB, looking for some exclusive stuff of Joker...Cause seriously, what else could look cooler than that on a man's torso? SF greatly let me down with their lack of good merchandise...The Hot Topic around me had better/more shirts, and K Mart had more toys...They're slipping...
