What kind of music (besides instrumentals or scores) would you like to hear, or what soundscape would you choose for the film?

I'd have to see the film first.

From what we've been lead to believe, it will be a dark affair with graphic source material, so I'm sure that could be a more than suitable basis for choosing some material.

Would you like to just have the score serve as the soundtrack, or would you like to hear some different styles?

Seriously folks, what do you think?

Seriously...I'd have to see the film first. You can describe the mood/feel/genre all you want, but without seeing the images, the movement, and the atmosphere created in at least a rough-cut form, it's nearly impossible to suggest anything more than general ideas. Generally, if it has a similar approach to the first one, I'd be fine with music similar to what was used in the first one. that's about as specific as you can get without seeing at least a few sequences from the next film. Normally, I'd prefer something orchestral rather than rock or pop-based in a Batman film, but if the new film calls for it, then all bets are off.

I'd say something on the order of the Begins score... consistency is a good thing. Just, you know... new music.

theres not going to be any thing else on the soundtrack other than a score, so this thread is a bit of a waste of time, unless you purely want to say want songs would fit well into a batman film

The guy that does most of the songs for BLack Hawk Down and Battlestar Galactica needs to get on this Soundtrack He is awesome.

Beary Mcreary? i think is his name.

I would like for Harry Gregson Williams and Hans zimmer to colaborate, But if you want to get technical I wouldn't mind seeing symphonic opera with guitar keynotes nothing heavy just epic and a bit gothic. Now that would be bad ass especially for a batman film...

Sorta' like Batman Beyond?

It would ultimately be the score. I don't think that, unlike Joel Schumacher and Tim Burton, Christopher Nolan never really uses songs as part of the soundtrack. And I think that'll happen for TDK as well.

In terms of composers, I'd still want Hans Zimmer and James Newton Howard to do the score. But instead of having Hans write most of the music, have the roles be reversed and have Howard write the action stuff (and a theme for The Joker) and have Hans do just the emotional and romantic scenes. (I liked the score for BB, but Zimmer's synths reduced it to white noise at times.) But I think a more orchestral score with some electronics would do the world of Batman more justice.

No offense, but that was pretty poor. I can see what kind of music you were talking about before, and in some ways I agree....but if the result is anything like that video, I'd have to give it the thumbs down. Someone mentioned some of the music in Blackhawk Down...I could imagine something like that in certain areas....maybe a few guitar elements in something like the Batmobile chase. Could be cool.

Black Hawk Down was composed by Hans Zimmer

the batman begins score was near flawless, why change it?

Danm your right I just analyzed that song but that was a crappy example of what I was talking about. I mean in the context of the boondock saints theme and equilibrium theme as well. Also craig armstrong, symphonic opera, I better example is the sephiroth theme song from final fantasy advent children but a little more less heavy more on the vocals and instrumental instead of the heavy guitar notes...

Actually, I kinda' like the guitars more than the vocal/choral stuff. But things can get cheesy real quick when you try to combine rock with classical/orchestral too much, so they have to tread lightly. Definitely don't want to go into neo-classical, Yngwie territory.

Yeah i was just talking about the BSG composer sorry shouldve clerified. Have you heard his music?

I'd like to see what Enya could do with this; I know I'll immediately get a few rants and raves about how that's an unorthodoxed approach, but I like what she did with 'Last of the Mohicans' and 'LoTR', so why not a choice selection for TDK?

I think it would be a little different from what's been used for Batman specifically.

naaaaaah... she doesn't fit... batman is diff'rent from last of the mohicans and lotr...

It should be more like Halo's theme song......with the vocals

I was satisfied with the BB score because it was not so distracting but just dignified and workmanlike. My favorite score is still Mask of Phantasm.

I believe Zimmer is going to give Batman his theme in TDK.

Yeah, he mentioned something about that in that recent interview. Something about a theme he held back from placing on the score, since he hadn't earned that theme yet.

Should be cool to hear what he's talking about.

If video games nowadays can make stellar soundtracks then I expect TDK to do a lot more although BB's soundtrack was excellent.
