I know many on these boards have thought TDKR would make a good live action film, but I disagree. Thinking back to the terrific B:TAS episode that had a TDKR segment, the story is such a stylized piece, art as well as story-wise, that it might make a better animated feature than a live action piece. I think that would be the only way you could effectively capture the essence of Miller's story. What do you think?

It would look great animated or live action. Personally, I think Burton could make a great DKR film. I'd also love to see Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller collaborate again for a DRK film.

i heard this was on the slate for DC's animated direct to dvd projects. supposedly, it's a project like marvel's ultimate avengers or dr. strange animated films, but actually meant for adults

If this is true, here's hoping Michael Keaton will voice Batman/Bruce.

that would be amazing. i also thought though michael ironside did a good job voicing DKR batman on the TAS episode taht featured it.

and nicholson for the joker!

Nah, forget Keaton.
I'd rather they use Michael Ironside who did it for BTAS.
His voice work for that ep was spot on.

I'd love to see a TDKR animated film.
I'd also like to see other Batman stories such as Batman: Year One, Batman: The Long Halloween, Batman: Dark Victory, Batman: Strange Apparitions, Batman:Hush, and Batman: Year 100 adapted as well.

It would be fantastic if done right.

It's not officially on the slate. Paul Levitz said they were considering it, then later Levitz said Miller (who'd they want to be involved) would probably be too busy with his other projects to do it anytime soon.

Then get someone else to it...

I don't know if it's on Youtube or not.
The episode was titled "Tales of the Dark Knight" (I think), It was about three kids telling three different stories about Batman, stories they "heard from someone", each story in a different style, one of which was the part in TDKR where Batman fights the mutant leader. ("This isn't a mudhole, it's an operating table, and I'm the surgeon.").

It was called "Legends of the Dark Knight." It's surprising they were able to get away with all of that. I'm 16 now, and when that episode first aired I found that section pretty disturbing, particularly the very end of it.

Keaton was NOT!! The be-all-end-all Batman! Nicholson was NOT!! the be-all-end-all Joker!!!. Kevin Conroy has a better Batman voice by far! And I would love to hear the voice of the original actor who was suppose to be the Joker before Mark Hamill got the gig . . . Tim Curry

For a kids show... Don't get me wrong, it was maybe the greatest kids show ever, but yeah, it was a kids show... So for a kids show.... sure, Kevin Conroy might have had a better Batman voice... I guess... a little... But by far? No. But for the morose, intraverted, Frank Miller version of Batman, you bet your pimply fanboy ass that Michael Keaton is the be-all-end-all voice of Batman.

If it ever gets made.... Keaton and Nicholson MUST return. Maybe even get Burton involved. Could be a nice send-off for the 'Burtman' legacy.

They probably would never even consider getting them back, though. They'd probably just go with Conroy or Ironside and Hamill.

Nicholson would do it, though. The Joker remains his favorite role he's played. Keaton you might have to convince. He seems to detest the fanboy idiocy that dogged him through his time in the suit. Hence why he didn't do new interviews for the B89/BR SEs. But he was willing to do a third Batman film, so maybe he's not entirely unwilling to do something Batman related? And were it an animated film, he certainly wouldn't have to get back in shape or be in that blasted costume again.

Who knows?

I couldn't agree more. :D

Well according to Frank Miller, Keaton was no where near his ideal choice for Batman . . . and still isn't.

No man no Keaton voice as Batman. Conroy is the man for the job!

Agreed! Conroy's voice has become so natural for Batman.
