Teacher Orders Other Students to Hit Bully

That way they're giving the bully a message, he's probably going to stop abusing them. As a result they are protected from him.

You're making it sound like they came together as one and decided to punish him. The teacher forced them to do it. They didn't have a choice. Some of them didn't even want to participate. I can't imagine how uncomfortable that must have been for them, at ages five and six, to be instructed to line up and smack the **** out of a classmate. I imagine the only "message" those kids got is authority figures are total *******s.

I'm not defending the "bully," but the teacher was just as wrong, even if her heart was in the right place.

I already addressed the "forcing" aspect of this.

Incorporate corporal punishment into all the school systems. It doesn't hurt anything really, except pride.

I think parents should have the option of deciding whether their child should be subjected to corporal punishment. If they know their child might be a problem, give the teacher permission to tear that ass up. If they're uncomfortable with other people hitting their kids, just tell the school little Jimmy is off-limitis.

Except don't leave it up to individual teachers; that's asking for trouble.

Just have an appointed disciplinary officer for each school, who's sole job it is to give kids the strap. Like how every castle had a head torturer, that kind of thing. They can wear the black hood to avoid lawsuits.

I don't see how leaving it up to individual teachers would be a problem as long as there are procedures set up administratively as to the extent of the punishment (minimum/maximum amount of "licks" per offense).

I doubt the kids or the bully learned anything from this one incident. Kids don't tend to learn things the first time they experience them.

Not if verbalized. But a child that sticks his fingers in the socket and I can assure you he will think it twice before doing it again.

What I get out of this is that not only did this teacher teach the kids to bully...

But she taught them to bully like girls.

You mean, like a woman? Oh, that's disgusting. Maybe if they kicked him in the balls is more macho?

I'd say those kids just learned to use violence to solve problems.

As long as it's to defend themselves together and not proactively attacking someone, I'd say it's an alternative to go and hide under the teacher's skirt.

But I share your concern about how violence is being developed in schools.

It was a class with one bully. It could now be a class with 24 bullies because they all liked it.

Actually they didn't. Some of them didn't want to take part in that.
