The Dark Knight Teaser-trailer audience reaction thread

i just came back from the simpsons.

decent movie but no teaser.

i feel cheated. :cmad:

I feel cheated as well, I spent a half an hour finding a link to a non-HD trailer and all we get is a ****ing logo and some dialogue.

****ing cheaters.

the opening weekend doesnt judge anything, the movie had legs and the DVD sales were fabulous, the word of mouth was spectacular.

TDK will be fuggin huge... its a year away and look at this hype and controversy and originality and intensity with still a year to wait...!

Exactly. Now the audience knows they were in for, the fact that the movie showed legs and continues to show legs shows that the audience loved the movie, but was hesitant on a new Batman film after Batman & Robin.

- Is it just due to the superhero hype madness? (no pun intended)
- Will it be the same as Batman & Robin???
- What does it have to offer? There's already been four films!

Well, the legs showed that the word of mouth was great. That this was a genuine superhero film and one of the best out there, I mean how can't it be with it's all-star cast and crew?! It took itself seriously and wasn't toyetic like B&R. It has to offer a new and exciting realistic take that is the closest to being the DEFINITIVE, and is, Batman film.

I'm gonna go to the Simpsons just for the audience reaction. Anyone know if O'Neill theaters has it? How about Regal?

Its not that simple. For instance, the closest AMC to my house has three trailer rotations as she put it for the movie. TDK teaser rotation was only on a few of the showtimes, and it changes every day.

Last night Midnight show.... TDK teaser was the 1st thing to play when the lights went off! I was shaking! I loved it!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Are people forgetting that another superhero teaser trailer is on the way??? His name is Iron Man. That teaser from the description I heard could kill the hype for the TDK teaser in seconds.

FYI... Although I'm looking forward to "Iron Man" a lot, he's FAR less well-known, worldwide, than "Batman." The average filmgoer is going to look at an "Iron Man" trailer and think it's a "Robocop" remake... but a "Dark Knight" trailer that shows footage (especially Bale, Caine and the Tumbler) is gonna instantly remind people that the "Good Batman" is back.

You'd have to go to some remote villages in New Guinea, Mongolia, Sub-Saharan Africa or Burma to find someone who doesn't recognize Batman (or Superman, or Tarzan, or Sherlock Holmes, Mickey Mouse or Zorro -- all iconographic pop-culture figures for 70 years.)

I just showed my dad the teaser and he was pretty impressed. For a 54 YO that is. But he was asking a few questions about it afterwards like "who is playing the joker? when I told him Ledger he was a shocked as I was when i first found out. But I think he is quietly interested in this flick even though he wont admit it!

Haven't seen it in theaters yet, but the people I've shown it to seem to dig it. The closest I got to a complaint was my mom saying that there was no footage (kinda strange reversal, is it not?).

Yeah, my dad was like, "What? The gay cowboy?" But after the trailer he was like, "Huh, not bad."

Then again, he kinda walks the line between general audience and comic book fan, so that might be it. :o

I showed it to my friends (who are casual movie goers) and their reaction was "Eh..... oh you guys remember the Spider-Man teaser? That was awesome!"

oh, is the simpsons movie any good btw?

No one did crap after the teaser in my theater. They just sat there quiet, but hey, thats what their suppose to do. As for the movie itself, The Simpsons was suprising very very good.

another report...this is from a guy who doesnt like batman btw:

"The theater I saw it at last night sold out 5 showings.

Trailers:
Horton Hears a Who - some laughs
Alvin and the Chipmunks - some cheers, few laughs
The Dark Knight - LOTS of yelling...couldnt hear any of the dialogue
Nannie Diaries - whistles
Bourne Ultimatum - cheers at end

The crowd I saw it with was ridiculous.

Looks like I wasn't the only bearer of good news as it pertains to the reaction to the trailer. Excellent! I don't get this negativity fascination though. It's hard to believe that an audience for The Simpsons - a fan base comprised of mostly nerdy fan boys, similar to many Batman fans - would go ape**** over something relating to a comic franchise that has grown over the years to epic proportions?

Man, I remember being a pessimist when I was 14, but you guys are taking it too far. Or maybe you are 14? Jeez. Sorry to break it to you, but there are people who get enthusiastic over such things.

Oh uh... those negative posters were in the minority, were they not?

Sorry. But it looks like NY wasn't the only crowd who applauded the teaser. Here's **** in your eye. I'm lovin' it. <333!!!

No trailer with my Simpsons, but it doesn't matter since we have it in hi-def now. My movie wasn't totally ruined :P

I have to say, the trailer did what is was supposed to. Made me want mooooooore! Great job, WB.

My brother was off today taking his son with him to the Simpsons movie and I ask him what the Batman trailer was like. He said people laughed at it and some even booooed it.

That's the drunk crowd- booeing because they want the Simpsons. I didn't get the TDK trailer, but I seriously felt like punching alot of people in my obnoxious drunk crowd.

What do you mean by ridiculous Excel?

I'm assuming you're talking about the crowd being fired up, which I'm not surprised after the momentum BB created.
