The Dark Knight Rises Scenes with biggest audience reaction?

The last five minutes was pretty much constant cheering for my screening.

All three times the ending got an ovation. Biggest laugh was when Selina kicks his cane away, and most chatter was definitely after Bane beats him down.

John Blake's full name got a good reaction. As others have mentioned of course the finale the audience really got into that.

"That's what that feels like" and "Robin" as well as the Cafe along the banks of the River Arno.

At the midnight premiere show I was at, a few people clapped when the "moment" happened and I wanted to clap with them, but found myself too immersed in the moment to do any such thing.

Bane lifting Batman over his head to break his back got a HUGE cheer at the KOP IMAX Midnight showing

 wow. i don't understand why people would cheer for Batman getting his back broken. thankfully at the theatre i went to EVERYONE was just in shock or in pure silence during that whole fight. when that moment happened in 'Knightfall' series, i was just devastated. more so than i was with the 'Death of Superman' storyline. i can understand a "sigh of relief" for the fact that the Nolans and Goyer didn't deviate from the source material...but to applaud it is kinda

but on a lighter note, the one that got the most reaction from the crowd was ''the cafe scene'' at the end.

Theaters here tend to be a bit more subdued than USA ones, I've never heard cheering or clapping or anything else in a film. You get laughter in a comedy of course, but that's to be expected.

In saying that, when Bane dropped Batman over his knee in TDKR, you could have heard a penny drop. There was definitely a bit of shock ................. for those who know the comics, they didn't expect it to actually happen.............. and for those who didn't, they never saw it coming.

Both times that I saw the movie the crowds were also silent during this scene. I'm hoping it's because a lot of them were in a bit of shock. I can't imagine a lot of the general audience know much about what Bane did in the comics and were surprised to see Batman get his ass whooped.

I've seen it 3 times already and each time my crowd was dead silent during their first fight. I'm pretty cOnfident it was the fact that we were all so caught up into that scene.

Combine that with the lack of music and Banes brutality and it just seems like everyone was in shock.

I mean seriously, this was hands down the most brutal one sided fights in the history of CBMs. Not forgetting the fact that it was the HERO who was getting his butt whooped.

It was shocking. That's why I think it was so silent. People couldn't believe what they were watching...the superhero fighting the villian and not just losing but getting absolutely destroyed.

"Well, let me show you some stuff anyway, just for old times' sake," - all three times I've seen it, this moment got so many laughs.

Bane breaking Batman's back - There is always chatter in my theater during movies (kinda annoying sometimes), but all three times, everyone was dead silent, not a single word after this scene.

"Death... by exile" - yet again, all three times, people seemed to find this scene really funny.

^That first one works so well because of how Freeman delivered the line and also that goofy smile he had. It lasted until they cut to the next scene.

-When Bane walks in/to the stadium (alone)
-The ending with Robin rising
-"My wife"? + the Lamborghini stealing :funny:
-Crane
-Ra's cameo

Utter silence when Talia stabbed him, and when Bane broke his back.

Exactly. Freeman's smile just pretty much said "You know you want to" :p

4 viewings.

Each time you could hear a pin drop during the blackout after the beating. Not a peep, literally.

Each time they all chuckled at the paparazzi EMP,

"I cannot recommend that you go heli-skiing
"Well you're very welcome to try it, Alfred."
"Thank you" Bane, a few people noticed his nod to one of the hostages and chuckled.

"Sorry" Rookie
"Put that away before you hurt yourself" Veteran
"You've got the wrong animal, Sir" Veteran
"Think that was really him" Blake
"So that's what that feel like" Batman

More to come. I'm too tired to do an epic post.

Seeing Batman get beaten so badly has spurred a question I can't help but write the answer to in my own words. What if Batman had known about Bane, from Ra's, and anticpated his moves. And what if the whole out of shape, depressed, recluse, was a trap for Bane and Talia.

I'm writing an alternate to the first fight scene. The movie basically ends because Bruce has been playing his hand close to his chest. In this outcome he's well aware of Bane and has been training hard for many years. He's been studying Bane and knows all about the mask. Bane puts up a fight but is defeated.

My alternate ending:

A steel mesh gate slams down behind Batman. He turns to Selina Kyle: “I had to find a way to stop them trying to kill me.” She pleas.

“You just made a serious mistake.” Growls Batman

“Not as serious as yours, I fear.”

Batman turns to the deep billowy voice. Bane approaches him from across the elevated catwalk, hands confidently clutching the lapels of his vest.

“Bane” Batman approaches.

“Let’s not stand on formality here, Mr. Wayne.”

Selina’s eyes widen in disbelief. She gulps.

Batman speeds to a fast walk and unleashes a right, left, right combo on Bane. Bane catches the third punch.

“Peace has taken your strength!” Bane

Batman throws a speed shot at Banes jugular. Bane snatches it from mid air.

“Victory has defeated you.”

Bane attempts to force Batman’s own fist into his face but it will not budge. Bane’s eyes widen.

Batman frowns and then lets lose a vicious front kick to Bane’s chest that sends him backwards in a heals over head tumble down the catwalk. Bane finds himself face down on the steel grate. He looks up and raises himself into a push up position. The catwalk in front of him is empty. Bane hears air ripple above him just as Batman’s two feet stomp into his thoracic spine smashing him back to the grate. Enraged Bane pushes off the grate, lifting he and Batman both. Batman pounces off into a front tuck half twist and lands facing Bane. Bane charges the ten foot gap releasing a six strike combination. Batman ducks the first, slips the second, and absorbs the third and fourth to the mid section of his armor. This man can strike he thinks to himself. Good thing I’ve done my homework. In anticipation of the coming straight right Batman lifts his left arm and wraps it over Banes, tucking it into his arm pit. Bane’s power is inhuman and difficult to deal with even when anticipated. The sixth punch, a now hindered left hook, connects but bounces enough off the cowl to also be warped up as Batman kicks lose Bane’s front foot. Batman pulls the unbalanced Bane into him as he viciously lowers the fore head of his cowl into Bane’s mask. The titanium tubes flex against their fixtures. Batman drops two more swift head butts and releases Bane’s arms as he simultaneously swings his right hand in and under for a crushing uppercut to Bane’s jaw. Bane stumbles backwards as Batman glides one foot past the next in a power gather for a front round kick. Bane comes to his senses just quickly enough to duck the fight ending kick. The momentum carries Batman’s leg well past Bane’s head. Bane regrouped lets lose three hard lefts into the kidneys of Batman’s now exposed back as his right hand clutches Batman’s throat. Bane drives his powerful legs into the grating and tackles them both over the railing. As they begin to fall Batman breaks free with an elbow to Bane’s temple. He pushes away and expands his cape, swooping to a soft landing. Bane grabs a nearby chain. His energy from the tackle swings him around and down the 20 foot drop. Controlled and precise he wastes no time in swinging a full circle around the chain corralling all his energy into the heal of his right boot. It connects in a crushing blow to the crown of Batman’s skull. The shock shoots stars into the corners of Bruce’s eyes all he falls backwards. Easily the hardest hit he’s ever taken, Batman tumbles end over end as Bane dives onto him in full mount. Instantly Bane barrages Batman’s face and mask with elbows and fists. Selina Kyle and Bane’s men look on in disbelieve.

“Your deception has been effective. You are not the man I was led to believe.”

This position is death, Bruce thinks to himself as each of Bane’s connecting shots draw bright flashes that quickly recede to more blackness in his vision. He’s being knocked out one blow at a time.

I'm tired, I'll fisish this later.

Another scene that got some laughs was when Bruce uses that gadget and turns off all the cameras when he's going to Tate's charity event.

The pit scene got a huge huge response in both screenings I've been to. The ending of course.

I welled up big time in both screenings and even whilst viewing the film in more....illegal circumstances.

The crowds I saw it with had mixed reactions;

"so that's what that feels like" got lots of laughs

-when Bane's voice was first heard people laughed, and not in a good way :(

At the midnight premiere:

When Bruce wayne first walks into the room with the cane and all.
It was like a relieving experience for us.

When Batman came back.
People cheered.

When Bane broke Bat's back.
Cheering and clapping.

When Bruce made the jump.
Fists went in the air, people were screaming. It was amazing.

When Bruce came back to the city.

"Light it up"
It was kind of like an "aaaawww yeeeeeh" moment.

The bat taking fire and the police charge.
Again, fists in the air and full on cheering.

Batman and Bane's second round.
When the fight started, everyone cheered after "I came back to stop you". The music, Batman countering Bane's advances, just everything. And then when Bane went ape **** and started punching and elbowing like crazy and hit the pillar, everyone was kind of just like "oooh maaaan!!!" I think I heard a couple "yeah buddy!!"s too.

TELL ME WHERE THE TRIGGER IS, then you have my permission to die.
People went ballistic.

Talia's knife
Although I was half expecting it, people gasped, and went "yes!!" and some cussed.

The nuclear explosion
Everyone was COMPLETELY silent.

"Robin"
Cheers.

Alfred nodding,
A rising gasp.

Bruce on screen at the end.
ROARING Crowd.

End credits.
About a half-standing ovation.

My crowd sucked ass.... chuckles for the emp on the paparazzi. a few people laughed at the "thats how that feels"..but thats it..nothing. A few people stood and clapped at the end...half the theater stayed for the credits even though i mentioned that nola doesnt do that...

Going for my second viewing friday, heres hoping theres some life in the crowd. (doubt it)

Everyone laughed at Bane's comment on the little boy's beautiful National Anthem voice :woot:
