You act like his intention was to sacrifice himself and die for his two cats. Do you realize that he didn't know he was going to die? His intention was to save both his two cats and himself. If he had known he was going to die, I doubt he would have done what he did.

I mean, if my house were on fire and there were a chance I wouldn't die, I'd definitely try to save my dogs!
