Teen lottery winner is now broke

The way winners are announced in the US... that's almost an impossibility. Word will get around and every single person you've ever known will find a way to contact you to ask how you have been doing oh by the way gimme money.

That's only cause those people are stupid and/or want the attention. There are ways to claim the money anonymously without all the pictures and press conferences.

if she has 32 grand in the bank, which is more then most people have... why doesn't she go to college, and work part time...
Exactly. $32,000 is WAY more than what most people have at her age. She's still ahead, so far. Now that she's realized it with some time left, it's time to get to work. The overdramatik sob story is completely needless.

And yeah, $400,000 of it went to cocaine, but it's less than 20% of her total winnings. She also bought houses for her relatives (supposedly - from her despair, it sounds like the mortgages still have to be paid). So it wasn't ALL frivolous. I think it's just making news because she did spend a bundle on coke and she was a cute young girl when she won.

It's sad that there would be a lot of people here, myself included who would hesitate in telling even the most closest of families and friends if they won.
I read an article about how to go about receiving your winnings if you win the lottery. In the US, I think you can wait up to a year to claim it, so you should wait as long as possible before coming forward, anonymously.

The goal is basically to do it as quietly as possible - no attention whatsoever, or else you'll have "friends" and relatives who haven't seen you since you were 5 weeks old asking you for "help."

Did she buy her houses during the peak of the housing bubble?

Seems like alot of the lottery winners think that once they won the jackpot, they don't have to work the rest of their lives. They forget that the new houses they purchased will have property tax that needed to be paid, and insured for a ridiculous amount of money. Maintaining an expensive lifestyle requires alot more money, and it will run out eventually. If I win the lottery, I'd buy a new house (but not a freakin' mansion), a new car, and put the rest in bank or stock market, and I'll continue to go to work.

It's called "Rich Poor", even the richest lawyers and executives have it.

and I'm swiftly tell them no

If I won the lottery, I'd get so many degrees, it'd make your head spin. Virology, microbiology, genetics, etc

That would be one of the perks IMO. I'd love telling them to **** off

I'd like to know how to do that, because if I ever won some kind of lottery jackpot that was $100 million or more I wouldn't want anyone to know about it.

Which is why you change your phone number, open a new email address and (if possible) move to a new location before turning in the winning ticket.

Wow, $3 million on cocaine and a boob job when you could have spent it on so many better things.

This is why the world is so ****ed up.

What's really ****ed up is that girls don't know how to let go of losers.

I think if I won the lottery at 16 years old I would of wrapped myself around a telephone pole in a brand new ferrari.

I'd like to win it now though, I'd know exactly what to do.... Coke and

****es

Hell, I'll just take the $32,000; I just use it to pay off my student loans and just keep the rest.

As far as this chick goes, looking at her pic she can go to California and get into porn. She can get half of that money back just from doing a couple of scene.

3 million is a lot of money.

But it's not THAT much money.

There's a reason Hollywood superstars and athletes keep working. When you spend money, it goes away.

(Shakes head).

To the average person three million dollars is a TON of money. If you invest it correctly and live in modest means it could not only last you a lifetime if could make your children well off.

You know why those athletes and hollywood people keep working? Because they waste their money on stupid stuff much like this woman did and they have to keep paying for the extravagant lifestyles.

I'd happily take three million dollars and walk off into the sunset completely content.

As soon as it's made public knowledge, your ass is already in danger of getting jacked everytime you leave the house, or killed. Why would they still broadcast that? I wouldn't even buy a bunch of expensive ****, I would live the way I still live now, maybe get a couple new game systems, get my parents a house out of town or something, pay off the debt.

I think the context of my point was pretty clear. It's a lot of money, but it's not so much money that it will never run out if you keep spending it.

Im not sure about other states, but I know in Connecticut you can opt to not be identified

I think her age could have had a lot to due with her spending habits. Then again I know people older then me that can't stop spending money they don't have.

If it had been me. I could have found a way to make that 3 million last me the rest of my life. I know that I wouldn't have spent it on all the nonsese that she did.

And my point is that it won't run out if you don't keep spending and invest it wisely.

I guess over there you don't have to be 18 to play the lottery like here in the US.

Besides even if you did win a lot of money playing the lottery, wouldn't some of that go to taxes anyway?

what a stupid *****, i hope she suffers for the rest of her life. Wow is all of to say

$400 grand on coke, this ***** thought she was the female version of Tony Montana
