now that TMNT has been released... how do you think it compares to the original?

the original live action vs. the new cgi... opinions?

personally... i liked both the same... this new one made me want to go watch the old ones again. i thought both had a gritty feel... with the edge going to the original though.

some of the lines from the movie really reminded me of the old ones... like when kasey said "2 minutes for high sticking"... mikey saying "we're back dudes" when he was looking from under the sewer lid and other lines... i cant remember... i would definitely see this movie again

I think that they are equal as far as movie quality goes.

But personally, TMNT suits me better. I prefer the portrayal of the 2007 turtles, at least -- they seem WAY more dangerous and skilled than in the 1990 movie. Action is really important to me in Ninja Turtles -- more than humor, really. So I favor the 2007 movie.

The 1990 live-action adaptation is the ultimate Turtles movie. Dark but goofy. Shredder as villain. Decent storyline. The right characterizations. Good action and fight scenes. And, Splinter makes a funny.

TMNT is the next best thing. Dark and action-packed. Good storyline. And, right characterization. HOWEVER, the villains are kinda lame. There's not enough focus on Don, Mikey, Casey, and April. And, Splinter makes no funny!

The 1990 movie just took the best elements from the comics and the cartoon to create what I consider the best overall representation of the TMNT. The movie was good, it was as good as Spiderman or BB to me. Its one of the all time best comic book adaptations.

The new TMNT continues the legacy of that film mostly faithfully. I dont think it can truly match the appeal of the first because of the stupid story and Splinter's lack of making any funny, but its still a victory and a good movie in its own right.

the best overall representation of the TMNT.

Agreed. Back in the day, I was a big fanatic of the original cartoon series but from day one I realized the movie was way better!

Definitly! Its a really good movie. Easily the second best Turtles movie!

Ditto.

Although I enjoyed the hell out of TMNT, I would have to say that overall I still prefer the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles as THE overall supieror Ninja Turtles movie so far. Even if it's just for the simple reason that the film was the one that established the world, as well as some of the main characters in the TMNT universe. But like alot of other people have already said, TMNT (2007) easily comes in at a very close second, as it's a film that finally got the TMNT film franchise back on track. And it was definately worth the wait.

Well i went back and watched the original movie yesterday after seeing TMNT

Damn they got me, I completely forgot April's dad was into antiques....thus i can understand her being more of an archeiolgist....to a certain degree over a reporter.

MAJOR MAJOR MAJOR MAJOR lacking point.....where was the pizza delivery this time around.... yes they ATE pizza, but no real I LOVE PIZZA fibe...which i think hurt TMNT a bit

again...like my other post, splinter has 2 whole ears

I think they messed CJ's look up by his aving sleeves most of the movie, maybe thats just me.

As for action, well 90s wired work can compete with 00 movie magic,
Though i did get to thinking, why do we crave such epic battles....
I mean Splinter took out Shredder in 1, count it 1 move.
If the battle happened today, think of it as Yoda v Emperor, there isnt anyway we'd have 2 major adversaries battle for 10 seconds in today's world.

The turtle lair also at 1st looks right, but whatever happened to the train...

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles will probably always be my fav turtles movie. All the elements were just perfect back then. I was 9-10 years old, it ruled my life, and to a 9 year old it was amazing to see them on the big screen as live action heroes. That being said I really liked/love the new one. I wish for a little more fun in the new one, I wish Mikie and Don had a little more time, but I know the storyline is most important when bringing a concept back, and having Ralph and Leo in a lot of scenes paid off.

I got the first one in my dvd player now about to watch it. I also agree with the person up there that said should've had pizza delievered.

Overall they both stand on thier own two feet with somewhat completly different feels, looks, and ect.

I love both films dearly, but personally felt that TMNT (2007) was better.

Also, did it feel like a sequel to you? It's supposed to be a loose sequel to the original 90's films...but it just didn't seem to connect to them to me.

I don't see it as a sequel of any sort to the original 90's movies (despite what the director says), but rather a whole new movie series.

TMNT is definately a film that brings in both a new direction to the franchise, as well as a great jumping on point for anyone interested in the TMNT universe, but I felt the film was a sequel. Atleast in a "Superman Returns" kind of way. Where everything in the past films was essentially in loose continuity. And which doesnt really require casual fans to exactly view the past films to be more up to date if he/she ultimately chooses not to. Personally, I was curious as to what look The Shredder would have had in this new direction that TMNT brings to the franchise, but I must say that from the looks of his helmet that was seen during the souvenir scene, it's definately in keeping with how he appeared in the 1990 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film.

I liked the original movie but the new CGI one was slightly better as the could pull off more martial arts moves when compared to live action, making the fight scenes better. But thats just my opinion :oldrazz:

I think I like the original better now that I think about it. The way the turtles were pulled off and able to fight was amazing. I dont think it gets the credit it deserves.

TMNT was a great movie. I liked how the story was focused on the brothers. It gave the movie depth ad followed the original storylines in that aspect. I would have like to see donatello and mikey a bit more though. The fight with leo and raph was.......excellent!! I really liked the movie alot. Cant wait for the dvd.
