• Xenforo Cloud will be upgrading us to version 2.3.5 on March 3rd at 12 AM GMT. This version has increased stability and fixes several bugs. We expect downtime for the duration of the update. The admin team will continue to work on existing issues, templates and upgrade all necessary available addons to minimize impact of this new version.

Tekken 6

I don't forsee much of a problem Stage-wise. Knowing Namco, they'll likely recycle stages if the game gets any patches, like they did in Dark Resurrection.

Apparantly these projectile attacks in Tekken 6 come as part of customised items. That item needs to be equipped for the character to be able to use the attack. I still don't like it.

Neither do I but it confirms my suspicion that these things are only available in a special mode. I doubt we'll see this used in the Arcade versions which will likely be out first.

Still...Just 3 new characters? We'll with Dragunov and Lili I don't see any problems roster wise...but maybe they sould reintroduce another old face. Like...I dunno...Jun?

The version we're currently seeing is the arcade version only, so the projectile attacks are in that too. I'm still a little confused as to the logistics. Anna flings her high heel, but how does she get it back? Does it come f;ying back?

And yeah, I still haven't played with Lili and Dragunov yet, so with Leo, Zafina and Miguel that's essentially five new characters for me. Apparantly there are two new characters to be seen yet too, which would make for seven new characters, which is pretty impressive. One of them will probably be the boss though.

On top of that, two of the older characters are coming back too. People are presuming Kunimitsu, and Mokujin hasn't been seen in Tekken 6 yet, so there'll likely be some imitation character taking the other slot. Much as I'd like Jun back, I don't see her returning. Asuka pretty much took all her moves.

The imitation slot is easily replaced by Combot or Tetsujin. As for the projectiles, early stage ideas man, let's pray the Japanese get their heads out of campy-mode before it loses ground to the likes of DOA. The last thing I want to hear is Itakagi *****ing triumphantly at how his sub-standard overglorified eye-candy game is "superior" to Tekken like he did with Tekken 4. I appreciate the fact that Namco is trying to introduce new elements into their franchise but they should be wary of trying to go too far as they did with Tekken 4.

Lanche, Lili and Dragunov are pretty great characters, Dragunov in particular feels like a combat-high impact version of VFEVO Goh which really suits a straight forward approach but like Goh he kinda lacks in the speed department as compared to the likes of Feng or Armor King. No major arcades in Sheffield?

Not that I know of. I've never been an arcade person though. I love my fighters and get any decent one I can get my hands on, but only for a console.

There's a ton more information out there on Tekken 6. Apparantly the graphics look much, much better when seen in person rather than the shoddy quality videos and stills we've been getting so far.

Of the new characters, people seem to find Leo the least appealing, branding her as boring. Miguel goes next, but top of the list is Zafina who people are already suggesting will roll in as top tier.

Loads of youtube video links (though crappy off-screen quality) at the link below, from the beta testing of the game.

ETA: Apparantly the game feels like a cross between TTT/T4 and T5: DR. Like the earlier games juggles are harder to do and cause less damage, and the combos aren't so powerful.

From the sound of it, Miguel is geared to be a tier2-3 type character (loves fighting+no discipline= anything ***king goes) while Leo's probably going to be newbie-friendly with that Akira-ish style of his. Zafina's "tricky" style may be in the same vein as Yoshimitsu and Lei so I think that puts her in tier4-ish.

***k. No Hwoarang vids????

nice. i can't wait for this game!

People have suggested the hands just glow for a couple of seconds and then stop glowing although the effects still continue. To glow indefinately seems a little pointless.

Nice but still a little worrying. The 8 frame jab removal is a good sign though.

I'm really worried about the fate of this game....With so many screens of SoulCal 4 out and so little of T6 (which was announced first) I think Namco Bandai has received a major backlash over they number or alien elements they're trying to introduce....

I think they may be removing some of the parts that were ill recieved, hence it's delay.

That would be a gd thing really. I don't want another sub-standard Tekken like T4.

T4 had some nice graphics and the underground fight club level was fun, but it lacked the combat system for sure. Can't they just make tekken 5 with more characters, levels and better graphics?

And for once, have ssome decent completion movies!!!!!

They did and it was called Dark Resurrection

The thing about Namco is they don't want to be accused of being stale but at the same time they tend to go overboard with some of their new features which might be good in theory but is poorly executed.

Bob!??? Okay...I guess Namco really has no idea what its doing...

i'm pretty sure they do, considering they put out some of the best 3-D fighters ever.

i say it's about time tekken got a fat guy.

Tekken 6 is now one of my most hyped next-gen games. It will probably be the fighter to beat this generation although VF5 is extremely awesome.

Why bob, WHY??? Stan Lee would role in his grave if he was no longer with us. One letter and he becomes Blob. But hey, if he is fun to play as then I'm all for it.

i've always preferred tekken to any other fighting game. it might not be as deep as virtua fighter, or have weapons like sould caliber or fatalities like, well, you know... but i've never had so much fun as drunken friday night tekken tag tournaments back in high school. it was great:

if you lost, you took a shot; if you won 3 times in a row, you took a shot; you can't pick the same character twice; and no eddie gordo, gon, or dr. boskonovich.

whoever is still alive at the end of the night, wins.
