Tekken 7, Street Figther V, Super Smash Bros. for Wii U/Melee, Guilty Gear Xrd Rev 2, The King of Fighters IV, Injustice 2, BlazBlue: Central Fiction, and a ninth title to be voted in by fans revealed for EVO 2017’s lineup.

EVO organizer Joey “Mr. Wizard” Cuellar and fighting games pro Mike Ross got together to announce the lineup for this year’s Evolution Championship Series, EVO 2017, with 8 titles including a ninth slot for a game that’ll be voted in by the fans.

The confirmed EVO 2017 roster of fighting games are:​

  • Tekken 7
  • Street Fighter V
  • Super Smash Bros. for Wii U
  • Guilty Gear Xrd Rev 2
  • The King of Fighters XIV
  • Injustice 2
  • BlazBlue: Central Fiction
  • Super Smash Bros. Melee

It should also be noted that this year we’ll see a switch in schedule for the Super Smash Bros. games with Super Smash Bros. Melee’s finals taking place on Saturday and Super Smash Bros. for Wii U’s taking place on Sunday with the other main titles. Street Fighter V, BlazBlue: Central Fiction, Tekken 7, and the ninth title to be voted in by fans will also have their finals on Sunday of EVO 2017 weekend. The full schedule will be announced on a later date.

The following is a look at the titles that fans will vote on to get into the ninth slot for EVO 2017:

Eddy Gordo will be a playable character in Tekken 7, Bandai Namco announced.




Here’s an overview of the character, via Bandai Namco:
Brazilian Capoeira combines dance, acrobatics, and music to form a deadly martial art. When practiced by an expert practitioner such as Eddy Gordo, bodies will break, blood will be spilled, and battles will be won.




Eddy Gordo’s connection to the Mishima Zaibatsu began when he pleaded with Jin Kazama to help treat the serious illness afflicting his Capoeira master. In return for the treatment, Eddy would wield his deadly skills at Jin’s command. Unfortunately for Eddy, not even the technology of the Mishima Zaibatsu could save Eddy’s master and he soon swore to take vengeance against the Mishima Zaibatsu led by Kazuya Mishima.

Tekken 7 is due out for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on June 2.

Tekken 7 will add two new exclusive guest characters from other video game licenses as paid downloadable content, Bandai Namco announced.




The company provided a small outline of some of the additions included in the game’s post-release downloadable content schedule:
Batch #1 (Summer 2017)

  • New game mode
  • More than 50 new costumes
Batch #2 (Winter 2017)

  • One exclusive playable guest character from another video game license
Batch #3 (Spring 2018)

  • One exclusive playable guest character from another video game license
Season Pass Bonus

  • 35 exclusive metallic costumes
While the previously announced Season Pass includes all three batches of content, each piece of content can be purchased individually.




According to Bandai Namco, Tekken 7 will also feature free characters panels that players can use to customize their favorite character’s image displayed on the loading screen. Bandai Namco is collaborating with various artists across the world for this feature.

Who are we going to get?

[FONT=&quot]We've already seen that Akuma from Street Fighter is a guest character in, but Bandai Namco has informed us of two more guests from other games appearing in this title.
The DLC for Tekken 7 will be spread out fairly far apart. The first batch will be in Summer 2017 with a new game mode and over 50 new costumes. The second round of DLC will be in Winter 2017, including an exclusive guest character that has yet to be named. The second DLC guest character will be in Spring 2018.
These new guest characters will also come with their own stages and special costumes. To get all of these additions, a Season Pass will be available with even more costumes added in.
Tekken 7 will release June 2for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.

Naturally, the folks at Digital Foundry have gotten their hands on a "Master" build of the game for PS4 and took a look at how it runs on the standard console and in PSVR. [FONT=&quot]Regardless of what is said in the fan flame wars, it's not much of a secret that the Xbox One version of games come in at a lower resolution than PC and PS4, so it remains to be seen what the final resolution will be.
