Tekken 7

Oh sorry no, I just totally misread what you said in the original post. Thoguht you were talking about whether Tekken 7 would be PS4 gen only and not PS3, didn't even register that you were talking about arcade machines.

No I mean, all previous major tekken installments ran on playstation technology in the arcades. Tekken 1-3 & tag1 on ps1 hardware, 4-5dr on ps2 hardware, and 6-tag2 on ps3 hardware. So basically if you went to go play tekken in the arcades, you were playing it on playstation.

I meant I was wondering, if on the tekken 7 arcade boards, there's ps4 tech, instead of a regular PC of sorts, since PC is rumored to be lead

The PS4 hardware is based off of PC parts as opposed to some of the more proprietary components for the CPU and graphics cards created specifically for the previous consoles (Cell, Graphics Synthesizer/Emotion Engine). Whether the Tekken 7 arcade unit is running off of PC architecture is kind of moot since Sony's new console is primarily made up of that as well.

it's all good brah holla atcha boi

and I doubt T7 will be released for Ps3. Harada's been pretty quiet about that and this series hasn't ever seen cross gen with new titles. T5 was on Ps2 & Ps3 but it came out on Ps2 first.

well yeah, video game consoles themselves are computers with very specific infrastructures.

with that being said, previous tekkens used the playstation hardware at the time, like you said with the cell and EE. but my question could still applies since it is not clear whether T7 is running on a standard high end PC, or a PC with an 8GB GDDR5 with an 8 core AMD processor (the specs of a Ps4) and uses the orbis UI, just like T6,BR, and Tag2 all used the XMB and all the rest of the features of the Ps3 (iow...built around the Ps3's architecture).

Ok good! Should look awesome then. I think I'm one of the only people who are interested in the Tekken 'story' lol.

I hope they have something like Tekken 6's story mode.

you mean the scenario campaign mode? come on man that was god awful. they took something that was a bonus mode starting from T3 and tried implementing it as the main thing. it was better in T3&T4. you actually enjoyed it?

Haha it probably was awful but I like playing through a "campaign" or story on a before I get into the multiplayer properly. And I love Tekken characters. Actually the last but in the temple with Raven?, that was definitely fun. I can understand if most want rid of it though. :woot:

well i'm not saying BN should nix it completely from T7, but it should be kept on the side like it was in T3,4&5 instead of being implemented as the main campaign mode.

the story mode from T4 & 5 were good, if they just made it more intricate with story characters interacting more and what not, that to me would be the best way to do the campaign.

and wat you mean by 'probably'? you played it didn't you? so if you liked it you liked it! just coz I and the general body thinks awful doesn't mean you have to say it is too, you know

I can't remember most of it that well but the ending temple level was really fun. And I meant that most people would probably think that of it, (not me obviously as I'd already said I liked it) and it wouldn't necessarily be something I'd recommend to others.

I love the Mishima bloodline and there are also a lot of cool characters outside of it so they could really do a story mode well if they wanted.

I think they kinda ruined the storyline by showing that anyone can have the power of the devil gene and it is not unique to the mishima bloodline.

tbt my love for tekken comes mostly in its story, not gameplay.

Yeah, I love the base gameplay back from Tekken 2 much of which carried over but I don't like long combos. And I wouldn't love the series nearly as much without the story and characters.

i'm havin conversations with people on neogaf saying tekken is 3D. apparently that ended with tekken 2.

even if it is considered 3D i'm always going to say it is 2.5D. not until fluid 3D movement is incorporated is it going to be 3D to me.

That 3D thing died off pretty quickly for many popular beat'em ups as it's too big a change of gameplay. Like you say there's not much fluid 3d movement in many games, more like press a button to sidestep to the left or right (Soul Calibur) and then continue in 2D rather than being able to use the sticks. Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat & Tekken haven't embraced it in the past I think as their fan bases are too hardcore to want such massive changes to gameplay. But will be interesting to see how they attempt it if they do.

I love the slow mo effect in the final blows

It's a 3D fighter.
but like iceman said right above you, it's just sidestepping and then continuing with 2D. campaign was 3D, and it sure was not the same as this supposed 3D in the regular gameplay

yeah I like it too. I hope they still show replays though

They didn't show replays in TTT2 so I doubt it. I don't remember if they did in T6

Oh I missed the videos above of Tekken 7 arcade. Looks awesome!! I hope they really pull out all the stops for the console versions.

It's not a simple sidestep to another 2D plane. You can move around. A 3D fighter doesn't have to be like for example Anarchy Reigns to be considered 3D.

IA. Tekken is most definitely a 3D fighter

I would love to try this out at an arcade.

if you move your character around with the analog stick not too without much flustering, your characteer will duck and jump up and down, not walk around on this profile-sided 3D plane. not unless you're playing in scenario campaign of tekken 5 or 6.

hm, so tekken 7 is running system 478. question is, is it a regular pc board or ps4 hardware?
