Action-Adventure TENET

I do think the time jumping in Dunkirk was kind of unnecessary and distracting, but that’s the only time I’ve thought so.

his movies are nowhere near as smart as people give credit for.
Memento and Prestige are some of the smartest-ly written films, bro. :D:

Have you seen his first film? The Following? So sly.

I thought Dunkirk’s temporal manipulation was rather dazzling and one of that film’s aspects that helped reinvigorate my interest in Nolan’s work going forward. As I’ve said before, I think it’s his most showman like effort and rather daring in its disregard for conventional narrative. How much, if at all, that dive into abstraction factors into Tenet (and its looking good on that front) is my main draw to it.

I’d hardly call exploration of time and structure a comfort zone. If anything it’s one of the least forgiving things to tackle because it can start to lose people if not done right.

Can Nolan do a movie without time-themed Story?
It gets a Little bit boring. Looks decent anyway.
I was trying to think of a Nolan movie that doesn't isn't time themed and I guess The Following and Prestige. I haven't seen Insomnia. This made me realize that the climax of all three Batman movies basically involves a race against the clock. In Batman Begins they have to stop a speeding train, in Dark Knight they have to stop the Joker before a bomb goes off at midnight, and in The Dark Knight Rises they have to stop a nuclear time bomb.

JDW is definitely most athletic actor Nolan has worked with so far, can't disagree with him there. He's naturally wiry and explosive and it pops in just the few bits of action we've seen so far. Hopefully Nolan takes advantage of his abilities.

Definitely planning on seeing this in IMAX. I put IMAX off my whole life, and with Dunkirk i was like "okay lets do this". that was an experience that I wasn't ready for, so yeah Im definitely seeing this in IMAX.

Dunkirk in IMAX was by far the most amazing IMAX movie-going experience I've had. I haven't even gotten Dunkirk on Blu-Ray because it wouldn't be remotely the same experience.

Quentin Tarantino has put Dunkirk second on his top ten of the decade list. Impressive.

Was just coming here to post that. I actually listened to the podcast where he talks about it, very cool. Didn't see that one coming! I haven't felt the urge to revisit Dunkirk (though I was super impressed with it), but hearing Quentin gush about it makes me want to give it another watch soon.

Happy New Year all!

He said he finally watched Logan. Curious what his thoughts are on that film as well.

Finally saw the prologue in proper IMAX. Wonderful. Though I did laugh when I realized how much Nolan seems love to have his dialogue muffled by masks. Every. Single. Nolan "prologue" has featured this. :funny:

I love Nolan but he can go straight to Hell for keeping Tom Hardy’s face almost completely obscured in two separate films.

Like at least we got Inception, but still. :o

Watch Dunkirk again yesterday, last 5 mins I'm a blubbering mess, lol. Can't wait for this.
