Pretty sure tickets have been the same price since before Genisys

Depends where you live. Mine have gone up since 2016 unfortunately.

But I'm not even bringing it up for just Terminator. I just never got keeping box office records anymore unless you're talking with inflation

Accounting for inflation means very little, unless you’re also willing to account for how massively movie-going habits have changed over the decades.

There’s no one factor that levels the field, it’s many. Using inflation only as a marker, Gone With the Wind is still number one. But GWTW came out in an era where there where no Tv’s and a popular movie would stay in theaters for years at a time. Titanic set it’s records in an era where movie piracy was still barely making a dent in box office sales and the internet was in its infancy, and it wasn’t all that unusual for a film to stay in theaters for a year or more.

Even Avatar didn’t have to compete with the streaming world and advanced piracy that internet post 2010 could provide.

All the films that set records had their own advantages and disadvantages to deal with, and the records they’ve set are all impressive. But also none of them are easy to compare, because each where released in such radically different circumstances.

I'd say the almost $32 million T2 opened with in 1991 will be more impressive than whatever Dark Fate will open with Not only is there almost 30 years betweeen the movies. T2 opened in just 2274 theaters. Dark Fate will likely open in more than 4000, like most major releases these days. And T2 also opened on a Wednesday. T2 also ended up being the biggest movie of the year. Obviously Dark Fate won't.

Damn, some of you don't want this to be successful. Possible record opening and right away..buzzkills

It's not about not wanting it to be successful. If the movie is at least better than most the recent Terminator-movies I'm just glad if it can make some money. It's just that it's so ridiculous when they're boasting about a new opening weekend record for a franchise that has been around for so long and was in its prime decades ago. It's just pointless comparing them. If all the Terminator-movies had been released close to each other like the Harry Potter-movies or something it would be different.

^ Yes exactly plus the fact the franchise doesnt have a big record in the first place.

$44,04 mil isnt a big deal.

Even if Dark Fate opens to a record $44,05 to $49,99 mil , it will be an irrelevant fact tbh.

It needs a $50+ mil opening to be worthy of praise/discussion.

As far as WW numbers go Dark Fate needs to hit $400+ mil or a sequel wont happen.
Im not going to be impressed/satisfied if it doesnt hit $525+ mil. It needs at least to pass the $440,6 mil of Genisys.

If the $520,9 mil record of T2 manages to still stand after 4 sequels its a failure for the franchise imho.

Lol damn guys, let DF have a lil hype.

We dont have good projected numbers or good reviews to talk about. What hype ? I dont see any.

We re a few weeks away from any hype tbh.

Ugh floaty robots. Every little hit flings them into the sky.

I'm kinda tired of the highway scene already after a big chunk has been a major focus

If only they could have got an adult Furlong for this movie, then I would be even more excited about it
