Action-Adventure Terminator: Dark Fate

I just cant believe how hard there trying with endless sequels to expand this series that was a standalone film and got lucky with a sequel and have been trying ever since T2 to keep it going.

Terminator, Alien, and Predator all should have ended with #2. (I don't know if Predator 2 even needed to exist)

This movie just looks too glossy. Maybe that's inevitable, but with too much gloss/polish and no grit, it just doesn't have that same Terminator vibe. None of them have ever recaptured it since Cameron departed directing.

Exactly, everything looks way too CGI. The T-1000 looked CGI too but somehow still blended in with the environment. Here, you can tell everyone is just staring at a guy in a mo-cap suit.

Yeah I think it's probably going to be the girl herself, and she's not "just" the mom this time.

I'm sure this is going to get a ton of dislikes because of the "oh great, now they've replaced all the heroes with women" crowd...

I think there's a bigger chance it's disliked because of the bad execution. That crowd is small.

I have always had the weirdest crush on her, because she is nothing like my type at all.

I agree with all 3 ending after part 2’s. Its just been endless crap for decades with maybe just maybe depending on your view Prometheus being the standout with something of an original idea while using the lore.

Its these 80’s action movies that had a great idea to be the framework for an action movie and ever since countless directors just peeing on the ashes.

Its no Sarah Connor Chronicles, thats for sure...

Still, I am interested. The Gabriel Luna Terminater is neat. And definitely plays with it more than the John we saw in Genisys. And I am curious what Mackenzie Davis is. Feels a bit too much like they are trying to recreate the first one, though. Probably a bit better than other attempts to continue the franchise, I guess.

At least the acting is likely to be better than genisys.

Not sold yet. Not going to hate on it too hard, but my impression is:
"We'll take just a PINCH of part 1, a LOT of PART 2, throw in a lady version of the guy from Salvation, and make the bad guy a guy version of the girl from part 3....and....we'll have Arnold Terminator living in a shack!"

Also, where is John Conner? Was he the guy in the truck, or am I totally missing something? (this does ignore Genisys where he was ridiculously a terminator himself, right?)

I think the last thing Terminator should ever be criticized for is having female heroes. I mean, the entire franchise is mostly known for centering around being a launching point for female action heroes in major movies. So, not a valid critique IMO.

I won't lie, the trailer hasn't blown me away. That's not to say there aren't good bits and pieces, and there is still reason to be cautiously optimistic with the cast and Miller. I like the look of the characters so far and will enjoy seeing Sarah again I'm sure. It seems to fall into the usual trap of upping the ante. I could do without this. Give me a dirty, gritty low budget affair. Too much day-time stuff here for my liking too.

This film could still pan out well, but I feel it's struggling with the enormous climb of silencing 3 films worth of squandered potential. Nearly every 'new' idea has been tried and wasted before, whether it's a liquid/skeleton combination (T3), a human/machine hybrid (TS), or an aged Arnie model (TG). There is potential to do much better with these elements this time around, but I can understand the lack of enthusiasm from fans. There's not a lot to latch on to at the moment.

One small but important thing I enjoy is Sarah's commitment to protecting our new protagonist. "I was her". It points to a heart in the center of it all, which has been sorely lacking of late.

I am just going with my headcannon that John never returned from the future in the Season 2 finale.

movies with a good rection to teaser and final trailers bomb. movies with good reviews bomb. the reaction on the internet for this is meh. there is zero chance this movie makes enough money for a sequel. and i bet that this will not have an ending. this movie will end the same way like Alita.

Trailer did nothing for me. I'll watch it on television like I did the last one but I'm not going to the theater for it.

Don't think anything will touch T2 ever again and that was almost 30 years ago.

Sadly, I agree. It's shame because T1 and T2 are 2 of my favorite Sci-Fi and/or action films of all-time. Heck, T2 may be on my short list for one of my favorite 20 movies ever. This movie once again just looks...bland and generic. I see way too much Salvation and Genisys in this. I have no doubts this will turn out better than those, but this has absolutely no grit and looks like a bad video game. A-friggin-gain!

1. no one forced them toshow unfinished effects
2. no one forced them to use cgi for a shot that could be done with an actor

:barf:

Did this really need a CGI double? Actors, not even stunt doubles, can run on walls without any CGI if done well. And it was 20 years ago.

I guess I'm the only one who likes it (& I hate Genysis). It's the tone that I'm really into from the trailer, and I actually think the music helps with it.
