Action-Adventure Terminator: Dark Fate

So the trailer literally spoiled that Diego Boneta's character dies?

You can see him in the car

For all we know, the next trailer will show us Luna's terminator gone full exoskelton after the explosion.

movies with a good rection to teaser and final trailers bomb. movies with good reviews bomb. the reaction on the internet for this is meh. there is zero chance this movie makes enough money for a sequel. and i bet that this will not have an ending. this movie will end the same way like Alita.

I've seen Alita in a lot of folks Top 10 this year so far.

I'm liking the tone and feel of the teaser trailer, as well. It seems like this movie might finally focus on characters and emotion once again. At last. The action scenes are promising. The teaser itself could've been edited SLIGHTLY better and the CGI needs work, but I didn't like the CGI in the "Deadpool" teaser trailer either, as it looked too cartoony (just compare the teaser and final versions of Deadpool's "I'm touching myself tonight" close-up).

Cameron's production company working on this means the CG needs to at least be above average while still in its beta stage.

I think while I enjoyed the trailer, the real downside is the CGI particularly in shots that don't need it. Reminds me of genysis, although, I don't think this will be on that level but

I did not like this trailer at all. From what i'm seeing online, for the people that saw the cinemacon footage are saying this trailer is not good in comparison. The editing and choice of shots are head scratching to me. I expect a much better followup trailer.

I don’t see the Genysis comparisons people are making. In CGI doesn’t mean the same as tone. Genysis was campy. This is playing it straight. Genysis was a best of hits special. This actually avoided all that.

This is a thought and view of 'overall' film making, not just this trailer, but how is CGI looking progressively worse as the years (and months pass in some cases) than that presented nearly 30 years ago, I don't get it.

Love this shot

Me too. It's my favorite shot of the trailer tied with Sarah Connor's badass reveals. The thriller aspect has never worked in the "Terminator" films aside from James Cameron's efforts. I am fairly positive that they have every intention of bringing the right suspense and intensity to the storytelling with this one.

I'm not too worried about the CGI, due to Tim Miller's and James Cameron's involvement. If it'll end up being "Deadpool" level in the final product, I'm good. The CGI in the "Deadpool" teaser trailer didn't look either, and had me worried about the animated eyes --- they proved me wrong once I saw the final product.

As far as the overall situation, too many filmmakers these days rely too easily and exclusively on CGI, whereas back in the day they went out of their way to carefully put the shots together as if they were jigsaw puzzles, which means CGI + practical shot + CGI + CGI & practical, etc.

A more moderate and thoughtful approach to CGI, like Christopher Nolan's or Denis Villeneuve's for example, is the most effective approach in my opinion. Also, more filmmakers should limit themselves for using the CGI only for when the CGI is needed. "Pokemon: Detective Pikachu" actually does a good job with this. Instead of relying on overly and completely animated shots, they tried to film as much as possible, and then INSERT the CGI characters.

Watched the trailer and wasn't impressed. I'd probable rate it at a 6.5 out of 10.
To me it looks like a blend of T3, Salvation and Genysis. It looks like a more hardcore and badass version but the music didn't really work, the special effects weren't that good and again some of the footage was quite dark and hard to see.

It was definitely awesome seeing Linda Hamilton back and Mackenzie Davis looks cool.

I think there's a bigger chance it's disliked because of the bad execution. That crowd is small.

Maybe I'm being too pessimistic... having said that, I also didn't really like the trailer...

It seems like it's just more of the same, and not in a good way. To me it looks like a blend of the last 3 Terminator movies

I’m starting to understand why CGI is looking more and more terrible. 30 years ago directors had limited options with the technology, and thus had to choose their shots carefully. CGI looked better because there was less of it. Shots I this trailer look artificial as ****.

Doesn’t look too exciting, but what can you even expect from this franchise anymore. I like the new actors so I hope it’s better than its predecessors at least.

Aye, it was used sparingly to 'add' to the scene, not to 'be' the scene.

Exactly. As in "oh crap, here we NEED CGI," not "let's put some CGI in it."
That being said, I liked the way Tim Miller used the CGI in "Deadpool," so I'm not overly worried about that aspect.

Not feeling it. Some interesting Terminator design. Seeing Sarah back is nice also. But not feeling it. I felt trailer is weak. And given trailer is weak gives me feeling movie is a weak too.

And when you have that situation after Salvation and Genesis, are you really asking me be anything other than pessimistic. Anything other than this movie being great wont put in my seat to watch it.

Directors/studios have no restraint. Just because something is technically possible doesn't mean it will look great.

Not a very good trailer in my book. Action looks over the top and terrible (a truck chase AGAIN?!). The CGI looks awful. Linda Hamilton looks very promising though.

Very disappointed. I expected more.
