Action-Adventure Terminator: Dark Fate

Critics might have been indifferent, but, the reason Aladdin did so well was repeat viewings. Will audiences repeatedly watch Dark Fate multiple times? We shall see.
Aladdin is a 4 quadrant film. That is why it had legs. It's less repeat viewing then the ability for the whole family to go. This is exactly why animated films have better legs then most films by default. Taking your kids to see it a month after release is far more likely.

Anythings possible, Aladdin made a billion despite everyone collectively going “meh” over it and a rotten RT score.
Critics were the only ones meh on it. A lot of people genuinely liked Aladdin

Allowing for margins of error, it’s arguable that “mixed reviews” is a fair label for movies that earn an aggregate score in the 45-55% range. But this designation is beyond dispute for the 51-59% range. After all -- and by definition -- such a score means more critics liked the movie than disliked it. (Aladdin was mentioned; it’s rated at 57%).

Yet such is the influence of the Rotten Tomatoes “binary mentality” that we only see red or green, fresh or rotten.

Surprised it’s so low on RT. The reviews haven’t been amazing but they haven’t exactly been bad either. It’s good enough that I’ll see this in theaters now, something I didn’t do with the last one.

It's not low on RT

The film doesn't even come out until a week from now. The score should be jumping down or up during that time right? It apparently already went from a 54 to a 64

Highly positive Twitter reactions followed by a mid-range RT score?

Overall, I think most fans will walk out of this pleased. A lot of people need to accept the fact that we will probably never get another Terminator movie that will rival the quality of T2. I think this just being a crowd-pleaser and step up from the other awful to mediocre sequels is a great step in the right direction.

Then what is the point?

T2 is a classic that helped redefine a genre and usher in a new form of special effects. It's also one of the sequels that most consider better than the original. Those don't happen very often.
I ask again. Then what is the point of making sequel after sequel that end up being rejected? Especially as these aren't money spinners.

Not being a genre defining classic is the same as rejection? Some movies can not do well critically and still be heavily appreciated by audiences whilst also turning a profit.

If audiences like DF and it makes money, then that would be the point in making a sequel.

^ This exactly.

Well I'm just out of the film. Mackenzie was the highlight along with Arnie but I always knew she would be based on Black Mirror and BR2049. She did this in her sleep.

Ultimately however I found it to be another derivative entry. Sarah didn't work for me and Dani was basically an older version of John (the character that's meant to be the heart of the film).

I've seen the film is the latest to provoke endless YT videos ranting about misandry but there's nothing particularly offensive about it other than just being another waste of time.

Long story short it's utterly generic slightly propped up by two good performances.

So basically the first two were lightning in their respective bottles in your opinion.

Not really as my standards aren't that high. I'm just disappointed that I find myself in what feels like familiar territory with this franchise.

For all the disrespect Cameron and co through Genisys' way Dark Fate didn't stray all that far away from the formula it used.

Im glad the early & critic reviews are positive but the "best movie since T2" doesnt say much honestly and most of the people here i think would agree.

As if it could possibly be worse than Rise of the Machines , Salvation and Genysis. That feat would deserve an award or something.

At least the movie is R-Rated. If it wasnt i wouldnt be watching it in cinemas.

Hope it opens above $50 mil in the US/NA.

All the "it must be a PG13" nonsense have made me wanna root for every R-Rated film out there.

I think the final RT score will be 60+ from critics and 80+ from audiences.

This was much better than the trailers made it out to be. It actually completely blows out of the water Genisys.

Linda Hamilton and Arnie were great and Mackenzie Davis was actually kind of cool.

The action was really good and surprisingly - visceral and well shot. Especially the final fight at the dam.

Film needed more "Carl", though lol (Arnie was great!)

What is the official runtime for Dark
Fate? And for those that have seen it, did it feel too long? Did it breeze by?

128 minutes. I haven't seen it, so I can't answer your second question.

I think this will end up being a really fun film with really good performances. I also think that T2 is a masterpiece, and that its literally impossible to touch what made that film so incredible, and with how meh the sequels have been, Im just hoping for something fun.
