Terminator: Genisys - Part 4

On a somewhat unrelated note....

I'm actually looking forward to this more than Terminator Genisys.

How does 1992 technology look better than 2015 Photoshop, when melding a ex-skeleton and Arnie's faces?

Nice to hear this might actually surprise people and be decent, but I can't help but remain uber-skeptical on this one.

Clarke is dating Courtney?!

damn Emelia Clarke is doing her thing. Shes gotten with a good amount of eligible dudes

Wish I was a fricking actor

I always wondered, i there some sort of rights issue with the music from the first two movies? I was so disappointed in T3 and T4... for a variety of reasons... when the those themes didn't appear outside a few bars here and there.

It appeared in the credits of T3 and in the Salvation video game but for whatever reason, not the movie itself. The video game music is actually really well done.

I believe Fiedel is given credit for DUN DUN DUN DUN DUN. Hopefully the full theme will appear with opening titles in Genisys.

It's kinda frustrating. T3 and T4 wants to have it both ways, and you can't do that. Either you have the actual theme in there, or you don't. But stop teasing the 'da da da daaa', and the cuts off the rest.

I think with someone like Arnold it comes down to charisma and likability. He's a very limited actor, and so he plays on his strengths. I can only speak for myself and from what I know friends have said on the topic, but most of us like Arnold because he has a strong screen presence. His usage of comedy in the 80's to make his action movies stick out was also clever, and it often made you root for him. He's the cool actionhero who shoots down 20 people and then says a corny catchphrase.

When you look at names like Worthington or Courtney, they don't have that "flare" that Arnold has. They just come off as wooden and very limited. It's a quality in itself for an actor to get you to like them, whether they are great actors or not. So being good or bad is not just a matter of how big your range is, but how likable you are. Arnold has basically achieved mega superstar status despite not being a great actor, and you'll never see actors like Worthington or Courtney get anywhere close to that.

Tim Ferriss just had an amazing interview with Arnold on his podcast in late January. Hearing him tell his life story it's no surprise why he took over Hollywood so quickly while also eventually successfully entering into politics.

Have you read Arnie's book? It's a brilliant read. He's a clever and hugely, hugely ambitious guy who knows how to play on his strengths completely. He was practically a millionaire before he even ventured into acting, after coming to American with virtually nothing and not really able to speak English very well.

I haven't but it's on my list. Currently reading the Benjamin Franklin bio. But yes. He is amazingly ambitious, exceedingly charismatic and way smarter than most give him credit for. He almost literally epitomizes the American dream of endless possibility.

You'll enjoy it. He's never going to be an oscar-winner in terms of acting ability, but his success in Hollywood fully embodies his general progress in life - he seems to be successful at anything he put his mind to.

Rare breed. Now can we get True Lies on BluRay?

The weirdest thing about all of this is that the only franchise Arnold has tried to keep going is Terminator, and it makes the least amount of sense. A movie about an aging Harry Tasker (True Lies)? That could be really good! A movie where the government seeks out an old Dutch to help fight a new band of Predators? That could work too. A King Conan movie? Sign me up.

But a robot who gets older and raises Sarah Connor as a daughter? Seriously, WTF?

Well they were working on a new Conan movie last I heard. And Shane Black is making another Predator(s) movie, so maybe Dutch will pop up in that?

Perhaps. But they've been talking about another Conan with Arnie since like the 1990s. I don't think that's ever going to happen.

Everyone was really excited before Terminator Salvation as well. Just hard for me to believe. But who knows. Rise of the Planet of the Apes surprised people. Even with it's misleading title.

I refuse to believe this movie will be good. I usually try to keep an open mind even with sequels, remakes, reboots, etc. But everything I've seen from this film and everything I've heard about it sounds absolutely horrible. I think it will be the nail in the coffin this franchise has been begging for since T3.
