Terminator: Genisys - Part 4

How am I bitter over something popular that I could care less about? I came here to talk terminator and met with something completely off topic besides the fact it stars an actress from it. Dont want someone bashing GOT then take the circle jerk to the threads dedicated to it.

Blackwater was great, but The Watchers on the Wall takes the cake in terms of action in GoT.

Yeah, that battle was badass. I don't care what anyone says, Jon Snow is awesome and he's still my favorite character.

Agreed, I actually cared about participants in the wall battle as well but with black water I only cared about Tyrion.

So.
Are we ignoring movies 1-4 when seeing this?
Does 1 technically count? Since it's referenced directly in this?
Does 2 then count as a result of 1?
Are we starting completely from scratch?

Whats the situation?

1 and maybe 2 count until the moment Reese arrives in 1984.

So everything is rebooted when Reese arrives or 2-salvation are already ignored from the beginning when it starts in the future? The begining/future is supposed to be the exact same one from the first movie ?

Well, I forgot that something happens in the future before Reese arrives. But I believe they're just ignoring everything that isn't Cameron.

It's basically the Star Trek or Days of Future Past method. Problem is you're getting rid of the good (T2) along with the bad (Salvation).

They are ignoring everything, as technically he goes back to the beginning of the first movie, but the movie we saw and he is expecting to go into, is altered, due to the fact a terminator in the continuity of the originals, 1-4 was sent back to when she was born.

I guess you could call the movies 'chapters' and chapter 5 is missing from the film series as this is when a terminator is sent back to the birth or sarah connor. Then we have this film which is i guess chapter 6, which shows the new time line. Confusing i know

That's why I always impose my mental cannon in this kind of situations.

So basically somewhere between Post T2-Salvation,A terminator was sent to save a child sarah and that story happend off screen and Arnold's terminator in this film is that terminator.

I guess others can have a field day with that part of the story by exploring that in comics/novels and games

The beginning takes place post Salvation, travels to T1, which causes T2 and T3 to never happen.

They should've just made a 2029 future war movie that ends with Kyle Reese being sent back.

Non of it happens. If the events of T 1 are altered then all of it is which means its all been reset.

Kate Brewster is not in this right? So I doubt it starts post-salvation

If anything Kate Brewster should be in it but for some reason she isn't
