Terminator: Genisys - Part 4

The thing is though, Kitsch somehow still IS relevant. He might not be landing big (would-be) blockbuster roles, but he's still getting cast in a lot of stuff. You'd think that playing the lead in back-to-back massive bombs like Battlesh** and John Carter and then toplining the most mediocre film Oliver Stone has ever made (Savages) would severely hurt an actor's career (particularly one who has shown, at best, limited range) but somehow he's still around. He must have a really, REALLY good agent.

His agent deserves a raise then, sam worthington is another ill throw in this pile with guys crammed down our throats who suck but still keep getting work.

So Kyle Reese could have totally shoved a bunch of futuristic guns inside of a raw chicken before going back in time. Idiot...

There was a Sam Worthington phase where he seemed to be getting lots of big roles in big films, and I couldn't really understand why - there are actors out there with more ability, more presence, and who can actually hide their accents. I always thought of him as a direct-to-dvd kind of actor.

The guy is so bland that he was in both avatar, clash of the titans and a terminator movie as a terminator and still wasnt recognized by most people.

Cause James Cameron worked with him in the biggest movie of all time. Everyone thought he might be the next Leo DiCaprio. They were wrong.

As much as it seems fun to rag on an actor I just dont think the "Bad actor" really exists. If Arnold is capable of playing a character perfectly in one of the greatest sci fi action films of all time then anyone is capable of it...but heck if you have already been under the direction of James Cameron and you still sucked then all the luck to you

Actors have certain ranges that they are well suited to. Worthington's range is "secondary character in a popcorn film"

I think with someone like Arnold it comes down to charisma and likability. He's a very limited actor, and so he plays on his strengths. I can only speak for myself and from what I know friends have said on the topic, but most of us like Arnold because he has a strong screen presence. His usage of comedy in the 80's to make his action movies stick out was also clever, and it often made you root for him. He's the cool actionhero who shoots down 20 people and then says a corny catchphrase.

When you look at names like Worthington or Courtney, they don't have that "flare" that Arnold has. They just come off as wooden and very limited. It's a quality in itself for an actor to get you to like them, whether they are great actors or not. So being good or bad is not just a matter of how big your range is, but how likable you are. Arnold has basically achieved mega superstar status despite not being a great actor, and you'll never see actors like Worthington or Courtney get anywhere close to that.

Tatum is slowly getting there. Fanboys used to unanimously hate his ass, but he's become a lot more self aware and deprecating as of late and just has fun with it.

Tatum's already there. The guy has taken some great roles, worked with auteurs, and is ****ing hilarious.

I guess Latino Review received positive word from a screening.

Overall glad to hear Terminator Genisys was a good entertaining movie, story was full of twists and the acting was great.

that's good to hear, to be honest. as much it's fun to rag on the film, we all want it to be something of quality.

"Part" being the operative word, since we've seen him dressed up like a Resistance soldier in various promotional stuff as well. Wasn't he standing behind John Connor for like half a second in the trailer?

Yep.

I asked Kellvin at Latino Review about Smith's other part in the movie and he said he wasn't going to spoil the whole movie. But..I mean..that's a pretty big spoiler anyway and as soon as people see Smith, they're going to know what his deal is.

But by all accounts it seems Smith's screen time is extremely limited. Like two scenes. He's the Thanos of Terminator.

Can someone private message me what was said about smith to
Avoid spoiling it for everyone?

Endoskeleton with a Shotgun vs. Hobo with a Shotgun.

As for Jai Courtney, where does his smug attitude come from? Other than Jack Reacher, his last few movies have stunk it up big time.

He's dating Sarah Connor/Khalessi at the moment, not hard to figure out why.

And he's going to be in a DC comics movie next year as well, alongside people like Will Smith, Margot Robbie, and Viola Davis.

That's the only way Courtney would've got such an iconic role.
