I don't think this will bomb

But then again, I really don't know the public's perception of this. ALl I know is my bodybuilder friend just wants to see it because of Arnold.
Otherwise I haven't heard s*** about this from others

I hope this and the FF fail hard. The franchise peaked at T2 and after that is was all downhill. This movie was "ATTEMPING" to wipe out T3 and Salvation so that it could act as a successor to T2 lol

I'd rather Fantastic Four be a good film, because if it fails then we just have another bad Fantastic Four film. Marvel isn't getting the rights back if it fails. Fox isn't Sony. Sony needed Spider-Man to be good and after two so-so films a Marvel team-up was their best bet for their one superhero property succeeding. Fox has anoher superhero property they can rely on if this fails so they have zero incentive to team up with Marvel if this FF film doesn't perform. They will just shelve the property for a while or they will "fix" some things in the rumored X-Men/FF team-up film that's supposedly being considered. But if y'all think FF failing will result in Marvel getting the rights back from Fox y'all are probably going to be very disappointed.

REally don't understand why people just don't get that.

Agreed so hard. I really liked the idea of the battle, it was interesting and different but once again we just can't survive without a joke a second. You can't just have jokes here and there in the battle, it must overwhelm everything else.
And a lot of those jokes were not very funny
my level of anticipation for the third Thor film will dependon how deep Kat Dennings involvement is with the story .

Hope. That is what you have taken from me first:/

I dont Blame Taylor for the Shortcomings of TDW or TG .
At least not entirely .
As for the film itself,
I am going in expecting an okay film, nothing spectacular .
If I get that , then , I will be satisfied.
The real problem with the Terminator Franchise is that Cameron created a great two part story .
Its tough finding a way to organically continue that saga ,
Especially if you are a director who is not James Cameron.
Jonathan Mostow and McG found this out as well.

They just need to stop trying to recreate the magic of T2. It's not going to happen. They'd be better off going smaller and more personal like T1 but with great FX.

they tried to create something different to T2 when they did Salvation. Tried to take the story into the future war and all anyone did was piss and moan about it. Which of course resulted in them reverting back to T2 territory. You guys whined for years that you wanted the new movies to focus on future war and yes I know it wasn't the purple lasered future you wanted but boo hoo. Now you have this movie as a result.

So I was reading some reviews and they say that E. Clarke is miscast. Shocking, I never would have guessed that cute woman child Clarke was the wrong actress for a T2ish Sarah Connor or any Sarah Connor. Sigh.

********. First off that film wasn't about the future war, it barely featured any real war scenes and secondly it was not a good film. It was some bland PG13 ******** movie that wasn't even starring John Connor or Kyle Reese. I will not apologize for wanting an interesting and quality future war film.

Salvation had an awful script. And it was just inconsistent to what we had seen before hand, visual and aesthetics. Didn't feel like it existed in the same universe at all.

She sucked. Plain and simple.

Thank you.

While there's a definite bias for Marvel, we all know TDW, TIH, the Edgar Wright and IM2 were largely their fault. And it shows because its the same mistakes especially with TDW and IM2. Anyone saying otherwise is in denial.

I think too many people automatically assume studio involvement = bad

It's hit and miss, sometimes the studio might actually have a good balance to a director's input, imagine if someone at Lucasfilm challenged GL while making Phantom Menace?

I do believe their should be some sort of healthy balance and a director should be allowed to do what he feels best providing it meets a rough framework set by the studio. Given the big $$$ in making these blockbusters it's reasonable for a studio to have a moderate involvement in the creative process, it's their money after all.

Well yeah fair point but when studio interfere and micro manage a film to the point where it goes bad, then you have a problem. Two things can lead to this, either the studio doesn't have enough confidence in their director, so they take matters in their own hands or they just think they know better.

Yup.

 Nat gonna argue with that lol. Just pointing out why studios sometimes do it.

Dude, Terminator Salvation sucked big elephant balls.

Alan taylor agrees; terminator: Genisys marketing has revealed too much

"I certainly directed those scenes with the intention that no one would know. One of my favorite moments – and i think jason clarke did a great job with it – is when he walks into the hospital in 2017 and everything from there until the turn, you’re supposed to think, oh man, this is great. – i know there was kind of a challenging calculus going on in the heads of those who market this thing to decide that this was the right thing to do. I think they felt like they had to send a strong message to a very wary audience that there was something new, that this was going to new territory. They were concerned that people were misperceiving this as kind of a reboot, and none of us wanted to reboot two perfect movies by james cameron. I think they felt they had to do something game-changing in how the film was being perceived."

when asked if he had been consulted before the trailer was released, alan taylor said that he "had a few heads ups and a few unpleasant conversations where i squawked about this or that" but in the end the revealing trailer went forward.

It probably wouldnt have made a difference. After the premiere that stupid plot point would have leaked and pissed off people anyways. This film has bigger issues than the marketing.

They still shouldn't have showed so much in the trailer imo. Heck, the reason they showed it was too get butts in seats. They blew their money shots because they believe they have a turkey on their hands.

They shouldnt have, but Im glad they did. Let me know right away where there head was at with this remake...firmly up their asses. Saved me some money.

Alan Taylor sure does like to blame others a lot. I remember he whined about the studio interference in Thor as well.

Regardless of the marketing, I haven't read one review that said the twist worked. So even if it wasn't in the ads, people still would have had the same feelings toward it.

I don't disagree there. Still hate the practice of trailers that show "the whole movie". Especially edited in order.

Emilia Clarke really wasn't the right fit.
But there are not a lot of actresses who could have done it .
And I think they wanted somebody younger, hence Clarke got the role.

I think Clarke could have been fine if she was just playing Terminator 1 Sarah, but this version is clearly more Terminator 2 Sarah and she just can't sell it from what I've seen.
