It would appear to be an unpopular opinion around here but Nick Stahl was my favourite John Connor. I loved him in the role, he portrayed the true weight of his knowledge, and felt very human to me. I would have liked him to have been more resourceful in the film, but I did believe he could become the man humanity ralies behind.

I fear no-one will ever write a truly captivating John Connor though. For some reason he's never been allowed to star in any of these stories.

I wouldn't say he's my favorite but I thought he was fine, I kinda liked the way his character was written in that movie. He's definitely better than Bale and Clarke's version.

You know, come to think of it, the only true way to prevent JD is to disassemble all of the nukes on the planet before Skynet goes active.

Terminator: The Quest for Peace. Can't wait to see Arnie throw a fishing net full of nukes into the sun.

If only Edward Furlong wasn't a drug addict and ridiculously out of shape, I would say they should have cast him as an adult John Connor.

If only.

Even if he had aged well and wasn't an addict, honestly, he was never going to look the way an adult Connor should look.

I would say possibly.

The thing that has been bad about the past 3 Terminator movies is just mediocre directors and terrible writers. To me Terminator has always had so much potential. It still just pangs me that when Cameron said he would do T3 that Kassar and Vanja said that they only wanted him to direct because they paid for a (terrible) script already.

It just seems that for whatever reason the people that keep getting involved have no respect for what T1 and T2 did. Not even just from a story standpoint but one of tone and seriousness.

Originally when this was announced even when they had just announced Clarke I had really thought that this was going to be a full reboot. But then when Megan jumped ship, and it was clear Arnold was a huge part of this film that the reboot idea was not happening.

To me I still think Terminator deserves more. I would like to see the rights go back to Cameron. Sadly we know Cameron will never get to it since Avatar 2,3, and 4 will be coming out in 2050. That and I don't know if even Cameron has it in him to go back to his old style of film making.

But I would love to see him produce it and get someone like Rian Johnson, or Duncan Jones, to make a smaller budget reboot. Something that is hard hitting, and smaller in scope. And then work it up as it went along. Because you know people will want to do something with Terminator always, it just is what it is. No matter what it just won't die. So my hopes is when Cameron gets it back (which he will) that he gives it to actually some great film makers to give it a new breath of life, and maybe a revitalized vision.

I didn't know that story about Kassar and Vajna denying Cameron scripting duties...what a bunch of *******s.

I foresee Independence Day 2 failing as well.

Yeah, Furlong still never look like a battle-harden warrior we saw in T1's flashback.

T2's flashback. We never saw him in T1. But I agree. Furlong works as a kid, not so much as an adult.

A damn shame what this franchise has become. T1&2 are among my top films but out of many huge franchises,This gets 3 failed sequels in a row in such a massive way :(

I actually liked T3 and Salvation enough but meh I'm over this franchise and will just wait to see what Cameron does with it when he finally gets the rights back,Which as I've said before..Hope he just has Terminator video games made in hopefully AAA treatment

Oh wow. I hadn't heard that bit about the ending before. I wouldn't have liked it if the Connor/Marcus Terminator had killed everyone in the resistance.

I remember reading about that ending. Jeez, talk about a total "**** you" to the entire Terminator series if Salvation ended like that...

Well, after Avatar and his endorsement for this **** show... I don't think I even want Cameron back.

Let this franchise die.

The thing is, they re-wrote the entire franchise, when all they had to do was change the timeline so that T3 and Salvation never occurred. This movie completely erases everyting that occurred after Reese and the T800 arrive in T1. For a matter of fact, those two elements are the only two aspects left from the first movie, as Sarah isn't even a waitress.

Another thing, how did John know about what battles would be won, etc? I understand how he knew about the time machine date (1984), etc but i still don't know how he knew about it's location, since he was getting his info from Sarah, and Sarah didn't spend enough time with Reese for him to explain all those details to her.

I'm guessing the T-800 of T2 had specific and detailed files, and was able to relay them to Sarah, off screen of course. :cwink:

I liked it tbh but I was dreading the absolute worst. I had no problem with Clarke or Courtney, and what surprised me most of all is that I did find the latter quite likeable.

However, I'm not one for nitpicking but even I found discrepancies, I can admit that. Like for example John in his speech empathised how only one can use the time machine, yet Sarah and Kyle jump into a machine together without a hint of any possible risks.

Also, if Arnie's now a T1000, he's not operated by a cpu anymore, so should have reverted to its "default": a ruthless killing machine.

I could live with a sequel, there's enough there established to keep me interested.

Would I watch Cameron-directed Terminator sequel? Hell yes. Do I think one should be made? No.

It's pretty clear now that this franchise should be... terminated.

I agree. I'm so glad this movie underperformed.

it comes down to quality. Doesn't matter how long the gap between sequels may be, at the end of the day people will go see a good movie. Mad Max, Rocky Balboa, Jurassic World, etc.

Stupid overseas money might save this film. :argh:

Can't say that I care. Absolutely the last Terminator movie I see in theatres unless something major happens like an A list writer and director come on board to completely reset the franchise.

I think they let the disappointment of Salvation dictate to them to much.

For me if they want a new trilogy this first movie should of shown more of the future war and established the events that occur to change the timeline

John is the timeline shown was too self aware , I would have had Skynet become aware that this John seemed to know things before they happened leading to Sknet taking physical form to observe John.John would finally give it away at the time displacement machine by knowing the exact date to send Kyle back.At this point Skynet would relize this has happened before and would need to deviate from his orginal plan.We would see Skynet ,after seeing the failures of the events of T1 T2 send the T1000 to 1974 to kill Sarah as a child

In taking over John we could have a scene of Skynet looking into John's memories and we would see flashbacks of the events of T2.

Basically I would have the movie ending with the events of 1984 and them traveling into the future.

The twist would be in the future Sarah had survived ( hidden from Reece for obvious reasons) and witness's John's transformation and she would be the one who send's ''Pops'' back to save herself.

That just chucking idea's out there but IMO they cut corners to get to a traditional Terminator chase movie and yet that's the weakest element of the movie. If it's a trilogy you need to go at it committed and leave the first movie open ended this tied everything up so much ,that a sequal will now have to again establish the story

What made me upset was that there were several simple close-up shots of the Exoskeletons and they were all CGI for whatever reason. Not even good CGI.... Even though they puppets on the set.. I don't get it.

And the Asian T-1000 CG effects were so..blah. Half of the amazing work that was done on T2 were pratical. Like this one right here:

That was a scary sight to see in T2...and now it's now being seen as a lost and dead art form.
