Terminator: Genisys 6/10

How much crapping of Cameron's work is there? Are we talking all out total wipe out here?

It wasn't that bad tbh at least not as bad as the trailers suggested and it was much better than Salvation. I would say the first half is pretty good and the second half is terrible.

I don't understand how this gets more hate than Jurassic World which didn't seem to have half of the effort put into it as in this movie.

Enough to look away a few times when you see the originals. You feel dirty and she ( Terminator n T2) doesn't need this pain.

What's even sadder is that this one undoes/is an alternate timeline to T1 and T2. Reese doesn't die in 1984, as he originally does, the T800 doesn't shoot up the police station therefore, the cops aren't still looking for him when his pic is taken in the mall in T2 due to his fight with the T-1000,etc. Not to mention, since Reese and Sarah are now in 2017, John Connor will be a different age……then again, Judgement Day should have already happened, so i guess it evens itself out.

So much wasted potential…..

I feel the same way.

As bad as T3 and Salvation were, they didn't alter my perception of the previous films. Undoing the events of the first two just rubs me the wrong way.

I know JJ's Star Trek and Days of Future Past did the same thing as well but with those two it felt earned because they were both great films and altering the timeline served a purpose. Especially for X-Men because of how badly X3 crippled that franchise.

Here we have a bad film that pointlessly undoes the events of two of the greatest sci-fi action films of all time. Why?

So the movie isn't as bad as I think it is? Maybe I will give it a go.

Cameron is more interested in making sequels to movies that no one cares about like Avatar.

You are kidding right?

No other movie came close to it in box office numbers. It is impossible to hit 2.7 billion dollars. I have heard reports of people feeling suicidal because the world of Pandora isn't real.

That's because when Avatar hit 3D took off at an amazing rate at the same time. He should thank it for those numbers.

Yeah but foreign numbers alone hit 2 billion dollars and I seriously doubt everyone saw it in 3D.

The funniest thing about this whole situation, is that it proves they completely miss the point of Terminator and Judgment Day. The first two films establish time travel and basically how it works in the Terminator universe. It is a loop. What happens, has to happen. John can't be born without Kyle. Kyle doesn't travel back in time without a war. The machines are never built without recovering the data left by the first Terminator.

It is the entire point of Sarah's pictures. It never happens otherwise.

The thing is, they kind of had to. That was the trick with early 3D. A lot of theaters in Europe, Asian and South America would only show the film in 3D, with the exception of a few scattered screens.

This. It is truly a sad day in cinema.:waa:

For what's it worth, I don't consider and of the post T2 sequels canon, so it's no skin off my back. :hehe:

Cameron's films are the source material. Everything else is big budget fan fiction. :D

I just completely disagree with the notion that this one is better than the last two. They're all bad but this does far more damage and is more off putting than anything they did in the last two.

And that's why I think T3 is still decent and worthy of being a Terminator sequel, unlike Salvation which is the definition of filler

Hmm.. Maybe. Point is, it wasn't a movie that people don't give a s**t about.

Like I mentioned above, there were people who took the movie too seriously, all because of how gorgeous it is, not just visuals but the concept as well.

Anyway, sorry for off-topic. I know this is a Terminator thread. lol

I said the same thig about the fourth Indiana Jones movie, and Blade 3….but the fact ii, they were still made, so exist somewhere in the movie-verse lore.

When will Hollywood learn? Stop trying to re-invent the wheel. Leave things alone.

Jurrasic Worlds success will unfortunately re-vitalize Hollywoods realization into the notion that re-makes/sequels of old franchises can work….

Damn I still can't get my head around these writers/Director have wiped out T2 from the Terminator canon. I mean how the heck did they even get the balls to suggest something like that and who signed off on such a thing?

I liked it, a worthy sequel and a lot more satisfying than Salvation, the playful bickering between Kyle and "Pops" was nice if at times it felt like I was watching a sitcom. Jai Courtney while not the greatest of actors did a semi decent job here, Emilia Clarke whom Ive never seen Game Of Thrones I guess was ok but has a childlike face and doesn't convince anyone as the tough as nails Sarah Connor.

Overall I look forward to more seqels but the sad reality is that without Arnold the series can't continue.

My ramblings

It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, but then again I came in with very low expectations. It wasn't the big bombastic confusing movie that you see in the trailers/tv spots. As long as you remember the first two (and the end of 3), you should get most the story points. I will say that I didn't buy Jai Courtney, Emilia Clarke and Jason Clarke as Reese, Sarah, and John. If anything Arnold was fantastic and so was JK Simmons.
6.5/10

The majority of T1 is also wiped out, which is why Miles Dyson's son is oblivious to what he's creating in Geneysis…..

You know this reminds me of X-Men Days of Future Past and how it erased the events of the first trilogy or atleast X2 and X3. What are you thoughts on that?
Were you okay with it?

Personally, one side of me thought it was great to see all the bad things that happened have been erased, but another side likes to believe it still happened on an alternate timeline.

Haven't seen Genisys yet but I doubt I will be happy about seeing the events of T1 and T2 erased just because how this movie isn't well received.
