Terminator: Genisys - Part 8

I figured a walking dead style show, but only running from skynet and multiple T 800's etc would be epic way to carry it on - because A - you don't really know if it's a reboot or in continuity and B can have some epic special guest stars.

Courtney maybe just has had some really crappy roles in which he is miscast...like Terminator Genisys for one. Maybe he is like Jake Gyllennhaal and is just really boring when he isn't hamming it up and playing a weirdo.

SPIDEY!!! Did you just compare Gyllenhaal and Courtney?:whatever:

I'll still watch genisys over and over dispite the haters. Its another good entry but I have enjoyed 3 and 4 a lot so this is no different.

Courtney was good in Jack Reacher, apparently (I haven't seen it) Spartacus, and perfectly fine in A Good Day to Die Hard despite it being wet hot garbage and yes here in Terminator.

The hate on him is another case of sheep-herd mentality when Charlie Hunnam got a free pass for his horribly bland turn in Pacific Rim or Sam Worthington for everything (save for the Clash of the Titans remake, which I know many will disagree with, so fair enough).

So it's not some stunner if he turns out fine in Suicide Squad. He looked perfectly fine in the production stills and the footage presented so far, which doesn't mean a thing since we're seeing two minutes cut together out-of-context from a two-hour movie. Fandom was, as it always is, too set in its ways to get an opinion of its own and didn't consider waiting to see the final product before casting judgement.

Hunnam and Worthington got free passes? Worthington gets bashed as much or more than Courtney.

Courtney looks entertaining in Suicide Squad, but he was wooden as a log in Genisys and nothing like Kyle Reese.

Hunnam does get a free pass but then again Pacific Rim got a free past solely because every interwebs hipster has a hard on for it's director. Almost everyone hates Sam Worthington as an actor and sees him as a huge joke. He is the star of the biggest movie of all time and nobody cares, not even Hollywood.

I disagree that Courtney was perfectly fine in Terminator, I thought he was pretty mediocre as well as being painfully miscast. I don't have the hate ***** for him that many others do. I think he deserves more of a chance than he has been given by the fanboy community. But you know, fanboys be fanboying.

No one cares that Avatar was the biggest movie of all time. Avatar was a revolutionary visual gimmick. Yet it lost attention when people took notice of the fact that the story was Pocahantas or Ferngully on another planet.

Outside of Sons of Anarchy I've never heard much praise for Charlie Hunnam.

Regardless of what one thinks of Courtney as an actor, casting him as Reese was a mistake and shows a complete lack of understanding of the character. It would have been akin to Arnold playing Reese in the original film.

What really pissed me off about Courtney was how arrogantly dismissive he was about Biehn's performance.

I've said it before but I at least would have had more respect for the guy if he put in the work. Anton Yelchin also had crap to work with but that kid worked his ass off and made you believe he was Reese. Or even Courtney's co-star Jason Clarke, who went back and watched T2 because he wanted shades of that little boy we saw in that film, reflected in his performance.

Either way, the movie was a failure and we won't be seeing anymore, so it's irrelevant.

Courtney's moved on to Suicide Squad and he's working with a director who actually knows how to utilize him and in a role that actually fit's his personality.

Sheep herd induced hate? Ummm yeah, no.

He plays himself in every role. The only "herd" mentality or group-think going on is when Hollywood tries to force a new hunky action star on the masses, like they are with him.

I'll give him cred if he's good in Suicide Squad (which we have no way of knowing at this point), but for now he's just a face.

You pretty much summed up all of my thoughts and feelings.

Yeah, no sheep herding mentality here. I can dislike the guy without baa-ing like a farm animal.

The guy was totally miscast for the role. He was nothing like the original actor, nothing like the original character and nothing special. As to Live Free or Die Hard, again he was nothing special in that but absolutely nothing about that movie was special. It was a boring, blatant cash-in that even Bruce Willis yawned his way through for a considerable paycheck.

I saw Jack Reacher and I liked that movie but I can't remember who Courtney was in it either.

I liked Pacific Rim but not because of the director (though I like some ofhis movies, he doesn't always hit the mark with me) and definitely not because of Hunnam (before Pacific Rim I barely knew his name) but I liked it for Hollywood trying something different, even if it was still just giant mechs vs giant monsters. The story and the characters weren't solid but it was still entertaining and still a better attempt than all the miscasting and missteps of Genisys.

Genisys was not trying something different. It was trying to do something different with the first two Terminator movies then throw in a half backed twist ending they spoiled in the commercials for it.

I've been watching Blue Mountain State the past few days and I realized the lead actor, Darin Brooks would have made a much better Reese than Courtney did. He looks more like Biehn in the stature and facial features with more charisma and a personality.

I just rewatched in prep for the movie. I wouldnt mind seeing Moran give it a shot although I have doubts about his ability.

The best suggestion I heard was from way back when someone said Sebastian Stan

Sebastian Stan looks a lot like a young Biehn.

But he's better off sticking to Winter Soldier than touching Genisys with a ten foot pole.

I think he would have been better than Jai Courtney but that doesn't say much. Stan does look closer though.

I think the hate for Jai is extremely uncalled for from fan boys. I think the Internet is jealous because he is young, healthy, fit and manly. Young American male actors are very metro. Ryan gosling as an action hero. What a joke. Anyway most Aussies are tough plus he is in all the franchises that fans wish they could be in. Sam Worthington got a beating too. They say stop trying to push these Aussies on us. No. People are sick of people like "Taylor... whoever the !@#$ from twilight" or Ryan gosling or another American pretty boy to be an action hero.
Bruce Willis, Arnold, Sly, Van dam, Dolph Lundgren, Tony jaa etc all believable people that could kick ass.
Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe, Mel Gibson, Jai Courteney and if you think Sam Worthington couldn't then you don't know Aussies.

I do think the hate for him is blown out of proportion, but i do not think it's jealousy. If that was the case then there would be a lot more hate for a lot more people from our fanboy community

I think Courtney deserves a chance but Sam Worthington has proven that he is a worthless actor. It has nothing to do with your bizarre theory about hating Aussie actors and everything to do with him just sucking at his job. Not everything needs some pathetic versus angle.

batfreakforever seems to be projecting something with his mini rant there. It has nothing whatosoever to do with him being Australian, even though he made the point there is a huge influx lately. Although half of them are surnamed Hemsworth.

And I don't hate him, I just fail to be impressed by him. The internet takes everything to extremes. Either you love or you hate something/one. As if like, dislike, and indifference don't exist.

He was poorly cast for the role and his lack of respect for the role and the actor who portrayed it did not help his image either.

Much like Emilia Clarke gets **** for not being Linda Hamilton enough (though IMO she was acceptable), Jai Courtney was even more of a mistake, all because Hollywood is trying (and so far failing miserably) to make him an action star. Is it because he's Australian? Hell if I know but I'm not "hating" on him because of that.

Courtney and Clarke were both miscast in their roles. Courtney has at least proven that he can act when given the write roles, direction, and script. Clarke has not. I feel that she gets more of a pass at times because people think she's 'so pretty' which has literally nothing to do with how well you do your job. This is not her first chance at headlining a project. Breakfast at Tiffany's was very widely panned and a good number of GOT fans easily point to her as the worst actress on the show. It's almost pathetic to see the way her stans defend her as though she can do no wrong but will bury Courtney into the ground.

Also, this isn't about anyone being jealous of him or the fact that he's an Aussie. There were American actors that were considered for the roles of both Sarah Connor and Kyle Reese that would have easily been better for the job, but the casting directors decided to drop the ball. I personally wanted Tatiana Maslany in the role and she's Canadian and really would have been ok even if Courtney was still cast as Reese. Miscasting Clarke and Courtney together to represent the characters made memorable by Linda Hamilton and Michael Biehn was even more obvious of a mistake when they literally had NO chemistry with each other whatsoever.

They wanted to capitalize on the Game of Thrones fanbase when they cast Clarke. Lotta good that did 'em.

In real life she seems sweet and funny, but her acting is certainly weak and people have paid attention to other aspects of her on Thrones (i.e. platinum blonde wig, CGI dragons and nudity, the latter of which she no longer does, forcing people to focus on how bland she is as an actress). I doubt she's gonna last long once Game of Thrones ends.

As happy as I am for Brie Larson for her accolades for Room and avoiding this atrocity, I would have wanted to see her take on it. It would have certainly softened the blow.

Yeah I don't hate Clarke as an actress but I don't think she is strong enough to lead a film and I'll admit it if I'm wrong, but I don't see her career in films going anywhere special.

Sometimes Hollywood has short term blinders on when it comes to the so-called hot chicks. She was some magazine's hottest woman or something and I was thinking only actresses with nothing going on accept that "honor."

She was named GQ's Woman of the Year or something. I was thinking her PR team bought that honor for her to soften the blow of Genisys not doing so well for her critically or commercially and GQ let it happen because of the high buzz on Thrones.

One could easily think of multiple other actresses who were more deserving.

Off the top of my head, I've got Charlize Theron for Mad Max or Rebecca Ferguson for Mission Impossible.

I'd have even considered Alexandra Daddario for San Andreas. :oldrazz:
