Terminator Salvation: Review Central

Well TheVileOne,I took a long look at your review,and well I must say alot of it is weak. My problems are that you do the cliched comparing to other Terminator movies,and then wish for it to be even more of the same as the other Terminator movies that came before Terminator Salvation. And the criticisms of characterizations ring hallow to me since I am not expecting to understand the characters you mentioned to the point that I wish I was friends with them,so I find that silly IMO. And I say to be fair,this isn't suppose to be a very lighted hearted movie. And also,your review also suffers from blabbering on about stuff that has no relevance to the movie. I will however,admit that this review will actually be takend into consideration by other posters here. If I really cared about wanting to like the characters you speak of then I can understand,I commend this movie as this point,for not being just like the other Terminator movies. As for your concerns left unanswered,that is up for arguement.

Also, if this is a war movie and you are supposed to be ROOTING for the humans, you should care about what happens to them. Its not just about liking them as friends. Its that its absolutely ridiculous that Blair Williams is so quick to put her faith in Marcus after spending one freaking day with him.

Common served no purpose in the movie. Kate Connor barely served any.

In my post I asked more so what you "liked about it" not , "did not like about it"

But in honesty you had a good view, and I thank you for the time to share it with us.

It does seem in the end Cameron should have never sold his rights to Gale for a Big Mac back in the day.

I don't care about humans dying in movies since I am not very human friendly when it comes to them,as long as they are decent by not annoying me while watching the movie I am ok with them being just decent then. About the story telling,I just think he is exaggerating the terribleness of it,and well needs too much information spoon fed to him. I am just one of those people who can some how manage to enjoy movies at times even if I don't give a damn about the characters in it.

In all fairness, there is really only one kind of crowd report on the internet. Lies. People who like the movie will say that women were weeping, men were giving a standing ovation and that Bale made a man in a wheel chair walk. People who dislike the movie will report claims of snores and people walking about. I have never once been to a movie where people cheer, and hoot, and hollar or boo and snore. And frankly, I'm glad. It would be rude to do so in a theater. The only reactions I ever hear in a theater are people laughing at comedic moments. Its been my experience in my 9 years on this board that for some reason people really like to exaggerate about crowd reports.

That complaint in particular bothers me. I'm sad to hear that even Ebert feels that John has become the very thing he is fighting...an emotionless machine. Bale was a great choice, unfortunately it seems by choice or instruction his John is Batman in military fatigues and the future.

I agree, but i have been with rowdy crowds, though never to any of the extremes that were mentioned. Ive clapped with an audience, for The original Spiderman, X2, TDK and some LOTR films. Probably a few others i cant remember at the moment. but nobodys made a scene. If anyone hoots and hollers or boos and complains then its just plain rude no matter how BAD the movie is. Period. Your letting your own opinion disrupt everyone elses experience and thats not a nice thing to do.

Indeed, looking at the consensus for both films, it's clear T3 will ultimately be the better received one critically.

That's because in all fairness T3 wasn't horrible. It was pretty much an unoriginal re-tread and at times was terribly cheesey, but it wasn't awful. Plus the ending was amazing.

Oh I agree. It's a solid three star flick. To be fair T2 was at times largely a re-tread of T1 as well was it not?

Meh,I know I am not the only one who comments on someone's review for a movie,that's a common thing. Ie people who are interested in seeing
a movie that a movie critic saw and reviewed that want to see what the

Just got back, I loved it.

I thought Worthington, Bale & Yelchin were great. McG payed great respect to the first 2 films. This was more of a heroic Terminator film, It was cool to finally see Skynet and what happened after judgment day. The action was very good, top notch.

If I had any nitpick it would be the score by Elfman, now I love Elfman's work, I thought he did a great job but I wish he added little creepiness factor to the score. I remember watching an interview with Brad Fiedel and he was saying how he wanted a heroic theme when Kyle & Sarah were escaping the Police Station in T1, Cameron said no, I want the audience at the edge of their seats. It was missing that creepiness feel, not a bad thing though just kinda wish it was there.

Overall, this was a very fun film and in my opinion McG added a very good story to the franchise. Last but not least hearing the Terminator theme when Arnold came out gave me the chills, they did an amazing job with that.
