I don't appreciate Elfman's disrespect for Fiedel's theme.

All they did was that drumming part and that's it. The rest of Elfman's score was awful and generic.

I'm seeing it tonight and have a huge feeling I'm going to be leaving the theatre thinking that a lot of the critics and fanboys were expecting way too much from what is essentially a simple war movie.

I never expected or wanted a lot from a film showing the future war. I wanted humans trying to survive and fight against the machines...with Connor obviously. That's basically what this movie seems to have and be about. I wish people would go into greater detail about why they hated it in regards to what they expected or wanted out of it.

i went in with normal expectations... and i loved it.
i loved how at times they made skynet seem like a Mordor.

i have absolutely no BIG complaints about this movie. I'd say its the perfect way to bring Terminator back to life.

plus i had no idea Arnolds cameo would be so impressive and big. The audience reaction was crazy lol.

i actually heard the theme a little while john conner was[BLACKOUT] laying down seeming like he was about to die after the stab[/BLACKOUT]

but yeah... elfman added nothing special to this movie. which is really surprising and a shame. Hopefully they get new blood next time... elfman clearly slept through making this music lol

I don't like Elfman anymore. Seriously. His score for Hellboy 2 and Wanted were so generic that I was like 'dude'.

First post at the top. His own review is actually quite positive.

Well at least you have some sort of semi proof to your claim. I'm used to people on the internet saying something like that and expect everyone to believe them without any kind of proof.

Glad to see someone liked it. A side from what ever cheesy dialogue it may have I just was not expecting this many negatives for this film. Even some people saying T3 is better...which I have a hard time believing isn't an exaggeration.

Just saw it, thought it was good, not great. There was something missing IMO, what that is, I don't know but I give it like a 7/10.

Being a journalist I try to be pretty objective most of the time, but this one hits pretty close to home for me.

Whether I like a movie or not, I certainly wouldn't go around the web spreading lies about it.

I can understand why people will mistake it for being awesome because of the big relentless action, fast pacing, under all that barrage you sort of get the feeling THIS IS COOL. That's what McG was bucking on. The thing is, people are seeing through it. They aren't buying into.

And if Terminator loses to NATM 2 this weekend, that's the ultimate death knell of this movie.

Correct. They were expecting a Terminator movie.

Lol, what?! Are we looking at the franchise this movie is in, let alone the damn title? :funny:

Got back from the film a while ago. My god, what an awesome movie, and a great start for the upcoming 2 films!:up::up:

Bales performance was superb, and I just loved seeing all the Terminators.

It was amazing to see Arnold's face digitally put in. Greatly put in, I might add.

I'll get into a review later (if anyone requests), but I actually really enjoyed this movie. After hearing about all of the negative talk and the shortcomings of the film, I thought it would be terrible. Yes, the film was severely lacking in probably the most important aspects a film has (characterization, development, solid plot, actual substance LOL etc.), however, I just figured, "What the hell! I wanna enjoy this!" And I did. I enjoyed it a lot. The effects were top notch. The sound was freaking amazing. And the cinematography was very well done.

Is it so wrong that I went to a summer movie to...have fun and be entertained? LOL :woot:

I feel so alone in liking this movie, seeing as its pretty well universally bashed. Hahaha.

Oh well. I suppose the negative reviews were the best thing that happened for me (I know, it really shouldn't be that way, and it's a terrible excuse for the film), as they allowed me to remove disappointment and just have some fun. :)

Correct. They were expecting a Terminator movie.

Lulz

Nice BS way to argue.

You know what I meant. I guess I'll just have to spell it out for you even though it should be common sense that aside from being a war film that it is also a Terminator film.

I'm seeing it tonight and have a huge feeling I'm going to be leaving the theatre thinking that a lot of the critics and fanboys were expecting way too much from what is essentially a Terminator film based on the war in the future. After all the previous three films were essentially chase or cat and mouse films just with a bigger threat in each one.

Episode29, what exactly didn't make this a Terminator film?

Journalists lie and make up crap all the time guy. Then try to brainwash the weak minded who read their garbage into thinking like them.

I was a journalism major and I know what the silly little game is about.

Whatever sells right? Hmm....

Saw this last night at a Midnight screening overall I thought it was pretty good. It wasn't great like I thought it was going to be and the
Arnold Cameo
was a nice surprise. I just don't get the hate of this movie because everybody coming out of me theater seemed to like it. Maybe I had my expectations low. I am not saying it's as Great as T1 or T2 but I liked it more than T3.

Even though the critics hate it I hope it catches on with the GA well enough that we can get an improved sequel. From your post it sounds like it will.

What was the audience reaction in everyone else's theaters?

^^ They seemed to like it. I think one guy was very impressed with Bale's performance.

I was at the midnight screening which was about half-way full, and I would say the general feeling in the air was 'indifference'. I can only assume this because people were practically silent as they left. I honestly wouldn't take that as a good thing. My group was the most vocal, we pretty much all either hated or were greatly disappointed with it.

Elfman is highly overrated. I think his best score was on Dick Tracey, because it sounds the least Danny Elfmanish. Everything else he's written sounds the same.

I do like the Spider-man opening theme, and the Batman opening theme, but when Chris Young took over on SM3, I thought the music improved.

This movie is easily a 7.5 or borderline out of 10 film......

People expecting to see a direct replica of the original Terminator and T2 films are fanboys that are out of whack from reality and their expectations were way to freakin high.

The reactions in the theater I was at....were some clapping during the big time action scenes and at the end some clapped.....some moaned and most just walked away.

That was my experience, granted I went to a special screening that was mostly full of people who either won free tickets or were there from a news outlet to review the film.

I didn't expect that. I expected to see popcorn flick, but what I got was a groanfest with some of the worst acting I've seen in a long time.

reaction in mine was pretty good...a few people sounded a little confused about what had happened, but most people seemed to like it. Two guys that were clearly just there to laugh at Bale got thrown out

Can you please voice your displeasure with the movie without questioning the intelligence of those of us that did like it?

ALso, the title sequeance was like
the opening to the originally Terminator.
I also LOVED Elfman's score.
