Terminator: Salvation - The NEW new thread

They should've stuck with that original ending with John Connor dying and then Marcus taking his identity and look. At least it would've been interesting. This is why you shouldn't always listen to fanboys when something leaks and they go nuts.

I wouldn't have liked that ending, killing Connor wouldn't have done the first two movies justice, and it seems like a twist for the sake of a twist.

I dont know, I kind of liked that ending. I actually hated how much John Connor's name was thrown around in this movie and how much he actually believed he was humanity's savior.

I think it would have been more interesting to see if humanity could survive without him. Put alittle more faith in the the human race than just in a man.

That ending is stupid. What's the point of all that time travel to save John Connor if he's just gonna get killed and have a machine take his place. What's the point of making Marcus look like him anyway. How many people actually see Connor? Then the other ending you see on Maximum movie mode is more stupid. After they make Marcus look like John, he kills everyone, including Kyle Reese, totally destroying past Terminator film events. The ending they went with is just more Logical than these darker but insane endings. Marcus gets his second chance and completes his arc of redemption and claims his humanity, and John gets to live on and take his place as leader of the resistance.

That ending would of made the overall movie suck even more.

No, they shouldnt have, as it makes the first 3 movies completely and utterly redundant, even McG knew you dont mess with the previous mythology like that.

On a side note, what do people think about McG saying he is still working on Terminator's 5 and 6? Could there actually be any truth to this?

That must've just been something the writers cooked up for fun. I honestly can't believe that anyone would seriously pitch that as the ending for the first movie of a trilogy. Where would the movie have gone from there? How would the events from T1 through T3 have occurred if Kyle was dead?

McG may be officially on those projects but they'll never happen.

So I just read gizmodo's "recap" of the BD-Live screening, and wow. I thought McG was a hack before.

That was actually the version of the ending I originally heard, but I didn't know that Kyle was one of the men Wright killed.

The people behind this movie believe that it's a new timeline so Kyle not going back wouldn't be much of a problem. Though it is a stupid intro to a trilogy.

You kill John Connor, you defeat the purpose of the previous 3 films.

He can 'plan' to direct as many Terminator films as he wants...whoever ends up buying the rights to the franchise will have the final say as to who they want to take over.

....oh and good luck getting Christian Bale back. Don't they still owe him money for this one?

im glad he's still in talks to direct...

i happened to enjoy t4 very much... especially compared to T3 (which was turning terminator into a joke/ comedy)

I too like Salvation...I just can't stand McG's shameless self promotion and ass-kissing to fans.

And this is coming from a guy who was actually defending him throughout the pre-release of TS.

But its become clear to me since then that the guy is a greaseball...willing to say whatever needs to be said in order to sell his product.

I get "used car salesman" vibe from McG.

You would be happy with concept of having T5 be about John going into the past?

I'd be okay with him directing as well... AS LONG AS he has ZERO input on the story... leave that up to Nolan or a more competent person.

Direction was not what was wrong with the movie. There are COUNTLESS worse choices than McG
