Batman Begins Thanks from Larry Holden

Yeah, this is pretty cool. He seems like a down to earth guy.

Thanks Larry - you did a great job in all your films, I've pretty much seen them all. Also, Batman Begins is one hell of a film, and it's getting so much positive word of mouth up here in Michigan it isn't even funny........

Thanks for stopping by and being so genuine...........

Batman2005, here's your proof.

BTW, Larry is a genuinely nice guy. You don't find that often in Hollywood.

wow, thats class! Thank you Larry for reaching out to the fans... Some of us have literally waited years and years for a genuine Batman movie and thats what we got... congratulations for being a part of something great and thanks for posting!

(here's hoping that you get a "Bruce Campbell" style cameo in any and all sequels.)

Wow, this is cool. The real Larry Holden on our site! :)

Just wanted to say I really enjoyed your appearance in Begins and your roles in Insomnia and Memento... Sorry to say I've not seen you in anything else though. Hope that will change soon!

I had such a tough time convincing my friends after seeing Begins that you were "that actor" who always works with Nolan... They just wouldn't believe me when I said DA Finch was the same guy as "Al Pacino's partner" and the "Jimmy G" character in Memento. :D I think I got through to them in the end though.

Well, anyway, if you catch up with anyone from the Begins cast or crew, tell them they did the greatest imaginable job (yourself as well, of course) and that I really hope they get to make at least another one like it that's just as good.

All the best from Belgium!

THANKS FOR YOUR LETTER, AND ALL THE KIND WORDS. AND TRUST ME, I UNDERSTAND EVERYBODY'S SKEPTICISM. HOPEFULLY THE GUYS I'VE SENT PICS TO WILL POST THEM SOON, AND EVERYBODY CAN SEE MY OLD MUG AND RELAX. ALRIGHT, HAVE TO RUN, LOTS OF EMAILS, ETC, TO TRY AND ANSWER BEFORE MY DAY STARTS. MY BEST TO BELGIUM ( I LOVE THE FILMS BY THE DARDENNE - SPELLING? - BROTHERS THERE: ROSETTA, LA PROMESSE, THE SON - HAVEN'T SEEN THEIR LATEST, THOUGH), AND MY BEST TO YOU. LARRY HOLDEN

hey larry what was it like working with robin williams and al pacino?

Hey, like your handle (bbb), but I can't tell you why (has to do with a childhood nickname I had). Al Pacino actually became a friend, even though I ahven't had contact with him in awhile. After Insomnia, when we were all back in LA, he invited my wife and I to watch a film he directed called Chinese Coffee, because he knows I direct, too. He's an amazing man, and an amazing artist. He still cares so much after all these years. Incredible. I was honored to work with him. Bummer is, we had a much longer hospital scene in that movie, but it had to be trimmed. Robin I met years before when a friend of mine, Danny Baldwin of the Baldwin clan, was on a show called Homicide. I flew into Baltimore to hang with him, and met Robin back than. And I tell ya, that guy can do it all. Seriously. I watched him joke and kid around with Danny and I - and then they would say, Robin, we need another take, and instantly, he would get up on the witness stand (his wife had been nurdered on the show or something), and would just come apart. Each and every time - and in between takes, he was... Well, he was Robin Williams - manic and funny as hell. Another amazing man. But during Insomnia, we never even met, believe it or not, because our schedules were so different (a stunt double was used in the fog scene when I got shot with Al). Hope that answers your question. Thanks again. Best, Larry Holden.

Thanks, man. But hell, I look like crap. Sorry everybody. My wife told me to take that damn hat off and take a shower, but I didn't figure anybody would care. And as far as my "directing hat" goes, I put it on so people could check the pic with what they have at imdb.com. Plus, my hair is out of control right now (and it was dirty!). But I'm getting old boys, and it's showing. Thanks for the kind wishes. I'm growing my hair out long and have started to grow a beard (for a movie I'm supposed to do late this year), so maybe Chris will be able to sneak me in the next Batman (if he does it) as some sort of thug or psycho, etc. Ha. Have a great weekend. Best, Larry.

hey Larry whats next for you ????

Hey. Well, a lot of indie guys are getting in touch, because I am one of the few actors who people can actually reach without dealing with my agents (my email address is right there at imdb.com). And the erason i do that is because I know what it's like to to both low budget films and extremely low budget flicks (which agents hate for us to do! matter of fact, my agent begged me to turn down Memento... because it was "only" a 4.5 budgeted film, if you can believe that. And that is NOT low budget in my opinion. 4,5 thousand is. Anyway, so a lot of scripts are coming in. I signed on to do one late this year (dates unknown) in Delaware (tentative location). Other than that, I've been editing all the films I've directed, so I can send them to fests this year and next. I have five waiting. But if anybody has something they would like me to do, just get in touch, and let me know. In some places my name means something ($), in other places it means a cold bowl of soup. But I'm always open to reading scripts and hooking up with fellow filmmakers. Hope I answered your question. Stay in touch. Best, Larry Holden.

Larry, I just want to thank you so much for just dropping in here and talking to us fans. You don't know how much it means to me for someone involved with Batman Begins to recognize the fans and how much we have looked forward to this movie.

I loved the movie and I'm sure you can confirm how lucky we are to have Nolan directing and the amazing cast we had acting in this movie.

Thanks again from a true fan.

Hey, that's cool.... don't be too hard on him. I understand. Most actors are jerks. Not that I'm not - ha, but I do understand the importance of reaching out to the people who keep us all employed - you guys. Best, Larry Holden.

Okay, I think I answered all the posts. Now, back to three million emails at my mail account!

NOW that was a pure class act at it's finest. Just made me a fan.

It's Holden. Compare that photo with his IMDB pic

He sure like his stetsons :D

Yeah... I don't know about my hat. Bought it in Arizona or somewhere back in 2000, before I shot my first film, because I was driving to a little rural town in Maryland called Bel Air - and I thought it might help me blend in with the locals. It didn't. But it did keep the sun off me, and kept my scraggle hair out of my eyes. But I'm not a cowboy, trust me. Just don't know how to dress myself! Ask my wife. I went to the Memento premiere wearing a shirt from the seventies that had an image of Ireland and the words: Brits Get Out! to tease Chris Nolan, and the press almost attacked me. My wife just said, I told you so. She's an ex-model and a fashion designer now. And I embarrass her almost everywhere we go. Trust me. Anyway, felt like I should let you guys know that I'm not f'ing Garth Brooks or somebody. Ha. Best, Larry Holden. ps: I have to say, this has been fun, chatting with you guys.

Good Stuff Larry!!
Pass this on to the rest of the crew (if you see them):

The film is amazing! All of us have begged to see this version and it's finally here.
As you can see, there's nothing but praise in the air for BB. I have seen it 3 times already and a 4th showing is not far from my radar.
BTW, you did excellent as DA Finch!! Hopefully Nolan can assign you a thug role next to Zsazs (Booth) in the next flick.
Cheers.

Man, thanks so much. Appreciate it. I always think I suck. Michigan... TEd Nugent and Bob Seger country to me. Never been there. Do you live near that Ambassador Bridge? One of my best friends, actor Josh Charles, did a movie with Stevie Baldwin and Jason Gedrick there called Crossing The Bridge. Make a movie there and hire me! I'd love to see where the Motor City Madman (Nugent) calls home (even though I haven't been a fan since I was eighteen, and he's out of control these days with his whole Republican b'sh't. Ha. Thanks again for the kind words. (Man, you guys a re gerat for the ego!). Best, Larry Holden.

I will, promise, when they get back from their little "world tour" promiting the movie. Thanks so much. I didn't play a big role, but I tried to make him kind of a big wimp, really, trying to pose a bit to snag Katie's (Rachel's) attention. You know, the insecurity thing. I'm surprised you guys even remember the character to tell you the truth. But I haven't even seen the film yet. The wife says, "Today, dammit." But we'll see. Best always, Larry ps: And trust me, I hope Chris hires me again, too! I always tell him I'm his lucky charm... so if I'm not in whatever he does next, and it blows, you'll knwo why. Ha. Big ha. Nolan does not need me or anybody else. There's no stopping that guy. I knew it back in 99 on Memento (even though I thought NOBODY would ever see that film.) He's got it all. He's "together," as they say. But feel free to start the hire "Golden Holden" (which is what him and the gang all jokingly call me) campaign. Ha.

Funny stuff. Back in 93, I think, usa today had this little feature on me and the title of the article was, Holden His Own. I laughed because it sounded like a porn title to me. Or worse, that I was lonely and having to love myself, if you know what I mean. Ha. Larry Holden.

Thanks, buddy. Damn, you're fast. LH

I have to say although Finch isn't in it alot, it was kinda one of the scenes that made me go "This is an adult Batman". By that I mean the way 'his exit' is played out. There were no theatrics or anything, just "god damn".

sorry for all the typo's, guys, i'm not a good typer and i'm trying to both answer both my private emails and stay on here. i'm not dyslexic (spelling? ha), i'm just sloppy and only use two fingers. pathetic, i know. ha. LH

Thanks. Chris wrote that scene so he could have his jollies hurting me, i guess. he smiled all day, and said, "You know why I'm smiling Golden Holden? 'Cause I get to injure you again." Something like that. Anyway, I'm glad you dug it. But thank, Chris. I was only following orders, earning my keep, as they say. Best, LH
