Infinity War "Thanos, I've Come To Bargain!" - The Doctor Strange Thread

I wasn't completely sold on MCU Doctor Strange after seeing his solo movie (which wasn't a bad movie, but undoubtedly on the lower tier and most underwhelming of MCU movies for me) ...

But I adored the little bit we got of him in Thor: Ragnarok and now Infinity War. I want another Doctor Strange movie ... One preferably directed by either the Russos or Taika Waititi (because I feel that they understand the character).

Strange is like reverse Loki. He uses all his trickery for good.

As someone who was really disappointed with his solo movie, IW made up for it big time. I wanted to see crazy magic spells and **** in Dr Strange and the movie fell short of that. The good Doctor was a BOSS in this and really showcased what he was capable of. I was very happy with Strange in this.

Strange vs Thanos, whilst brief, was visually stunning. One of the most beautiful and inventive fights I've seen in a cbm.

Well, the whole Titan showdown was incredible.

Yeah, count me in with the group that wasn't won over with Strange in his origin movie but thought he stole the show here. That [blackout]clone attack[/blackout] was the highlight, and they nailed his personality.

Probably my new top CBM fight, along with Ebony Maw vs Strange.

OMG I forgot about that attack, geez The Russos are cbm GODS after this film. :hmr:

Definitely a highlight in this. Looking forward to more MCU Strange

Strange was the highlight of the movie for me. He really felt natural in the role.

I didn't know it was happening so my jaw just fell through the floor at that part. And like you say the whole sequence on Titan was amazing.

The Titan fight is what I've wanted since the original Avengers: an entire team against one incredibly powerful foe. I was disappointed we didn't get that with Ultron but they finally delivered big time here.

Same here. I will be HYPED for Doc Strange 2 thanks to his role in Infinity War

Same here, it greatly disappointed me in Age of Ultron.

Put me also in the camp that loves Cumberbatch as Strange but found his solo film quite wanting.

Here though he's used well. It's worth it just to see the dueling Sherlocks go at it. So happy the issues between Stark and Strange weren't a silly "magic vs. science" thing and more about the nitty gritty of their mission.

The Strange and Stark scenes were some of the strongest character moments in the film. Cumberbatch held his own with RDJ which is no mean feat.

And....crimson bands of Cyttorak !

Cumberbatch can hold his own with anyone. His Strange is perfect for me. The MCU was fine before he came along but with IW we are finally seeing that his Strange can put a rocket up its ass. Don't think anyone was predicting Strange would be a MVP contender in this one but he killed it. I really can't wait for Strange 2 to build on this.

Strange was amazing. So much better than in his movie, really loved the character here and his banter with Tony was amazing

That did not go unnoticed!

As someone whose followed Benedict's career I'd go as far as to say that his performance as Strange in IW is the first time since Sherlock's early seasons why I get this, to some, odd looking man became a star.

Hoping for some more classic Strange spells in IW part 2 and his next solo film. Maybe some faltine flames, or the images of ikonn ?

I thought one of the best parts of the Dr Strange film was the look and feel of the dark dimension - loved the creepy psychedelic look.

Great to see Strange was such a boss in IW, the Russos and the writers did a lot for the character - as no doubt it will turn out that
he gave Thanos the stone to bring about the one future where the heroes win. As be told Tony " It was the only way."

Thanos fought them succesfully btb, so it was sort of magic vs science.

Yeah, I loved Strange through the whole movie, but the real cherry on the sundae is that [BLACKOUT]he has the secret knowledge of how they beat Thanos and he essentially sacrifices himself as part of the plan. It's such a baller super-wizardy thing to do[/BLACKOUT]

Oh yes. This dude is the main man.

Because they kept fckn nerfing the likes of Thor. Sure AoU had many more issues but in IW (and Ragnarok) they finally embraced their true powers. Same for why people prefer Ragnarok and IW Strange to his solo outing. He was displaying more than just circle shields.

Yeah count me as another fan who doesn't want Scott Derrickson in the sequel. The humor was cringy, shoulda been like in Ragnarok or IW Strange, sharp, authorative and majestic. Plus the horror aspect should be more present. We need a A list director a la Taika but one who can handle not just the horror, visual but humor too without making it sound corny. DS2 needs terrific writing.

Didn't know so many people were down on Doctor Strange's movie. I was a little disappointed that his powers were a bit too meelee based, but other than that I enjoyed the film. He was a neophyte wizard so I forgive his power displays for being a bit pedestrian.
Heck even here in this film his powers were a bit boring cause there were so MANY "posing with mandalas" shots. It wasn't till he fought Thanos that he became a complete badass with the awesome power displays.

But again, I was just most impressed by how he has really taken on the mantle of SS with the utmost seriousness. His confidence, authority, and presence was just awesome to witness. You really believe this guy now as a master sorceror. My favorite line was when Stark asked him what his job was and he said something like "Protecting your reality *****bag!"

I liked Strange's solo movie fine-- but he did feel very derivative of Stark and the humor felt forced. The dark dimension and the way Strange beat Dormammu was awesome though, and pure Doctor Strange.

It's mainly that he was SO much more authoritative, mysterious and full of fantastic power displays in this movie, he felt like a big step forward as an MCU favorite.

I said it in an earlier post-- I can't wait for more of Strange, but I wonder if he works best in team-up movies rather than a solo character. It helps him keep that air of mystery that makes him so much more fun.
