Age of Ultron Thanos' role in Age of Ultron

I think people are reading Thanos' influence from
his line "Fine. I'll do it myself". This implies that he was behind the events of the film and it didn't go his way so now he is stepping up personally. I still think his role is not certain though.

That scene seemed pretty ambiguous. It was almost like they didn't know what to do so there were like "Okay, Thanos again!" Ultron wasn't trying to retrieve a stone for Thanos, and as far as we know Thanos doesn't really care about Earth or its destruction (he offered Earth to Loki). That scene makes more contextual sense to be set after Ronan failed/betrayed Thanos.

I don't think that the credits scene had anything to do with Ultron. [BLACKOUT]For all we know, Thanos could have been reacting to Ronan's refusal to deliver the orb to him. There's no reason to believe that Ultron knew of Thanos's existence.[/BLACKOUT]

They could but I doubt they will. I naturally assumed the ending was connected to the events of AoU since that's the movie it follows...wouldn't make sense for them to show his reaction to Ronan so late.

I dont think he is involved

At least not directly

I think his plan was to leave the mind stone on earth and let it do its magic, as he knew it would create problems if it fell into the wrong hands : bad guys would give him a headstart, and good guys who had no control over it would make a mistake

The gem seems to be a form of intelligence, an entity that's alive, but something that still needs to be controlled to be effective

Great point
