Age of Ultron Thanos' role in Age of Ultron

They should show some form of his puppet-mastery in the movie, but, yes, they don't have to focus too much on it.

That's right. Thanos has his hands on a lot of stuff, but not every plot needs to be related to him. Let Ultron be the focus here, we'll have all of Phase 3 for Thanos.

I wouldnt take Thanos off the table in AOU. I think this movie is gonna be packed with surprises.

It'll be full of easter eggs and winks and possible future set ups. I just hope the story is still character focused. Don't throw in Thanos stuff at the expense of the story.

It's Thanos. It's definitely Thanos.

At Comic-Con last year, the Avengers: AOU teaser that they showed was edited in a different way. The scene with the dead Avengers was a little bit longer and it was possible to see many more bodies, not just Cap's broken shield. I think Iron Man was the only one still standing. But the giveaway that they were at the feet of Thanos was the rocky stairway infused with blue lights.

The scene was just a couple of seconds long, but I remember clearly that there was definitely a "cosmic" feel. I talked to a few people after the panel. Some noticed that, others didn't. Like I said, it was very fast, but I was paying attention like my life depended on it.

Could it be a Scarlett Witch tampering? She's able too do that.

I still am gunna be THAT GUY, who says, we find out Pym had to do with it in Ant-Man :P

^

Bless you.

Boom. Who was right all the way back in 2013? Me.

Not you haha. You were saying Tony creates Ultron. We know he doesn't. He's just "responsible" for Ultron

It's Thanos. It's definitely Thanos.

Was he in it? Or was it just his setting?

Just the cosmic staircase, like this:

Whedon broadly hinted in an interview that yes, that was meant to allude to a future conflict with Thanos.

While the filmmaker is obviously joking, he was also asked about a scene shown in the Comic-Con trailer, where Tony Stark is seen looking at the bodies of his compatriots. This scene was confirmed to be an illusion created by Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen), but when asked if these heroes all die at the hands of Thanos, the filmmaker had this to say.
"I can neither confirm nor deny that it totally is."

There was some mention of Scarlet Witch possibly having visions of the future of alternate timelines. So my guess is she shows Tony a vision of the team defeated by Thanos, and that leads to Thor realizing this is part of something bigger.

I can imagine an end credits scene. Scarlet Witch just has some sort of moment where her powers go into overdrive and she has a vision of a reality where all the Avengers are dead at the hands of Thanos and just as Thanos notices her and tries to blast her it all stops and she wakes up.

Seems that
Thanos will indeed have a presence in the movie

The Asgardian God of Thunder returns as Earth’s sworn protector. More brash and powerful than ever, Thor serves as the moral compass for the team and continues his personal quest to find the identity of his brother’s secret ally while also warning his teammates of threats that are bigger than any of them imagine

I hope Thanos is in the movi and that he has as much screen time as he did in Guardians

I think the
vision Tony has is of all The Avengers laying dead on Thanos' hideout planet Sanctuary. Caps shield is broken in half.

I agree and I also think that

the scene will end by panning up to show Thanos sitting on his throne with the gauntlet. I think it will be the shot we saw in the trailer they gave us for Infinity War at the Phase 3 event last year.

^^ Yeah it could be something where we see him with that object. This movie is gonna be bananas

If Thanos has the time gem in the future and the mind gem and is already a genius beyond levels of Tony Stark, Hank Pym and Bruce Banner mixed. Why doesn't he think about going back in time to stop the Avengers/Gaurdians and other heroes before they can assemble and rise up to stop him? Does the time gem give him the power to see into the future? I'd imagine it would. Just something to think about. It'd make a great alternate comic or movie ending, where Thanos does this and becomes supreme ruler of the universe.

Way off topic but just a thought.

One thing for sure is Thanos will definitely be in this movie. Can't wait for May 3rd.

I hope that Thanos isn't "pulling the strings" in AOU in any major way. He can have some sort of minor presence, but Ultron is a great Earth-based and Earth-created threat for the Avengers. I think it's important that it stays that way, especially since they'll be dealing with huge cosmic threats in the next two Avengers films.

We don't know he has the Time Gem.

We don't know what, if any Gems he has, other than that he presumably had the Mind Gem (if it is indeed the Scepter) at one point before losing it.

I bet Ultron will have something to do with SOME gem. All the Avengers Villains are going to be part of the Infinity War. Doesn't anyone find it odd that The Avengers 1 Villain appears in
Avengers 2,
Other Films,
Infinity War

Thanos appears in
Avengers
Avengers 2
Other Films
Infinity War, like Loki

Now Avengers 2 Villain (in another film where a another possible infinity stone is used)
Just appears in Avengers 2, no infinity War, no other films?

I don't think so. With all things here, if Thor sees that this is part of a bigger picture, and Ultron has more knowledge than all of them, he's gonna know about the bigger picture as well.

I full expect Ultron to be around for a little while, maybe even appear briefly in IW2.

I don't think so. Loki has reason to be in an Infinity War film because he was working directly for Thanos and was involved in a plot to steal one of the stones, in addition to being the brother of a founding Avenger. Thanos is well...Thanos.

I don't see why there'd be much reason to bring back Ultron unless Thanos finds use of him for some reason.

Ultron is to powerful to appear again in this phase. Ultron x Thanos is to much. Thor probably finally discovers about Thanos three years to late in this.

We'll have to wait and see. I would wager he's not gonna be one and done.

I wouldn't want Thanos to have anything to do with the creation of Ultron. That should be Tony's mistake alone and he should live with the repercussions.
