the NHL basically took what it could get for an American Tv contract. OLN may be a lesser known network but atleast they go out of their way to showcase hockey, whereas it was the butt of jokes on ESPN in previous years, and once they got the NBA it became almost non-existent

True but the series could've started on Saturday or Sunday but to please NBC and not say the fans in Canada which will probably be four to five times higher because Edmonton is is in the finals they're having it start on Monday then follow a Wed-Sat-Mon-Wed-Sat-Mon when it could've been Sat-Mon-Wed-Fri-Sun-Tue-Thur. Or something better so it doesn't last until June 19.

It wouldn't have been fair to Carolina or Buffalo to only have a day off before the next series and have to face a well-rested Oilers team.

The real problem is an 84 game season, it really should be 76.

82 game season.

The Oilers had the same thing going into Anahiem. Anahiem had the same thing going into Colorado.

Point being that it's not a good thing to have too much rest, but you still need some.

And the NHL has to accomodate a tv schedule, if it wants a renewal.

Ok Stanley Cup Picks

I've been pretty terrible this post season with picks so I want to continue that trend and pick Carolina in 6.

Hopefully I am wrong as usual.

I just don't think places like Carolina, Miami, Tampa, Dallas, Atlanta, Phoenix, etc... deserve hockey teams. If you don't naturally have ice, you shouldn't have a hockey team...

Amen

and my prediction is Oilers in 6

**** **** **** **** **** **** ****

**** :(

No more Roloson.....:( :(

Yeah... that sucks so much. Roloson out for the rest of the series. The backup lost game one for you. Who knows... maybe Ty can come through.

That goal Conklin "let" in was such bull**** as well, I was just in shock after that happened  :(

I'm hoping that either Conklin or Markannen will be able to help the Oilers win four games, but I dunno, all I know is that Conklin is going to get ripped to shreds on all the radio shows tomorrow :(

Yeah... 30 seconds left in the game and he lets in such a horrible goal. Ugh, that must have sucked so much for you and Oiler fans. Losing Roloson sucks so much... he was playing great. I don't know... you guys are gonna have to score more goals now... so hope Cam Ward sucks and maybe you'll see Gerber.

Oilers can still win this (somehow?!??), but it does not look good with Roli out.

Look up "sieve" in the dictionary and you'll find two definitions: Conklin and Markkanen.

Literally the worst third period of Oiler hockey I've ever seen.

Well as they said Rollie stays in his net and Conklin likes to play it so it was miscommunication. And the Oilers still had a 3-0 lead, there is plenty of blame to spread around.

Still, excellent game that entertained until Cam Ward's last save.

Although Conklin is not in Roloson's territory, he's still a fairly decent goalie. He's just out of practice because Rolo's played the whole playoffs.

The Oilers are simply going to have to bump it up a notch and compensate for Roloson.

NO FREAKIN way you hang this loss on CONKLIN!
Conks maybe shouldnt have come out at all, but the communication between Gator and conks was non existent. What do you expect if he has not played in 3 months. We did not lose because of conklin. This is the playoffs...if you get a 3 goal lead, there is no reason for a team to come back and win.

The 5th Carolina goal happened because of JASON SMITH.

ANY OTHER NHL GOALIE WOULD HAVE MADE THE SAME PASS.

Jason Smith called for the pass. A Pass, there, implies pushing it backwards. Instead of staying away about 5 feet, he came and bumhumped his own goalie, resulting in this horrible mix up.

Conklin isn't going to pass it IN THE DIRECTION the forechecking is coming from. Brindamour had a good angle as he came in, forcing the need of the pass to be behind Conklin. Jason Smith did not trust his own goalie, and so acting naturally for that type of nervous state, he wanted to come get the puck and deal with it himself. Conklin doesn't have eyes in the back of his head, and although some people may say "well he hasn't played and so they want have very good communication." That is legit to say, but in either care, the goalie SHOULD be making the pass in that situation, with full expectation that the defenseman is 5-10 feet away from him.

The most STUPID decision would have been to leave the puck there. Some people might say thats what Smith was yelling for, and Conklin misunderstood. That couldn't be possible because that would be such a HORRIBLE call for Smith to be making. There's no way Conklin would leave the puck there with Brindamour so close.

ALSO BLAME stupid Bergeron! WTF was that idiot checking a Carolina player into our Rollie!!!!!!!!

Bergeron was also standing around when Staios lost control of the puck leading to the short-handed breakaway goal by Williams. I'm not a huge fan of him to be honest.

I'm hoping, hoping, that either Conklin (or Markannen even) can bounce back and maybe win the Stanley Cup. How great of a story would that be if that were to happen?

I say the Canes are going to take it

I'm not that good with guessing the game, but I believe this one will go to the seventh

Conklin is a good goalie in his own right. He won't be the problem if he Oilers lose any more games.

EVERYTIME A TEAM MAKES A GOALIE CHANGE IN THIS NHL PLAYOFFS, THEY WIN! :):):)

Jussi Markkanen will SHUT OUT THE CANES & LEAD THE OIL TO THE CUP in game 2!
I think this is going to fire up the OIlers! NOW they know they cannot take games & a lead for granted.

MARK ME! ONE of the Edmonton goalies will step up & make a name for himself & lead the OIL to the CUP!:up::up:

The Hurricanes have hot girls with midriff cheering them on
