As the clear winner of the playoff pool (Ha!), I declare the new Season Thread open for buisness! :awesome:

Also, Immortalfire is such a jerk :ikyn

Lets Go Blues!

Hall or Seguin? :o

I have a feeling the Oilers take Hall leaving Seguin to the Bruins. Either way, I can't complain. Although I'd rather have Hall. But both of these guys seem like they will be studs for years to come.

I've changed my mind and I want Hall. He is everything the Oilers need, he has the speed, the shot, the hands, and the grit to change the Oilers. Plus Hall can play center too. Only one more day till the draft.

Any way that Cam Fowler gets passed up by both Florida and Columbus and falls to my Isles at #5?

I have a sinking feeling that even with the prime pick, Edmonton will screw it up somehow. Like trading it for a soon-to-be injured underperforming veteran, or accidentally drafting Taylor Swift first overall.

My Preds have been making trades with NJ and Philly. I just hope they make the right moves and win us a cup this year.

Yeah, I was a Seguin fan before. But after thinking about it, Hall seems like the better option for the Oilers. And it seems like the Oilers really seem to be preferring Hall over Seguin right now. But really, who knows?

Well apparently Gudbrandson might be drafted by Florida. Maybe Columbus could draft Connolly and that could leave Fowler for the Isles? :awesome:

Thrashers have hired Craig Ramsay as head coach...I was hoping for John Torchetti, but oh well.

They should pick Brandon Gormley, they need high-end talent on back end.

I think Fowler is the superior 2 way D-man. Gormley doesnt really thrill me plus I'm always skepticla of defensemen who come out of leagues like the QMJHL where defense isnt exactly the order of the day.

I'm hoping the Pens can finally get a scoring winger for Sid.

Here's the draft so far...

1. Edmonton Oilers - Taylor Hall (LW, Windsor (OHL)
2. Boston Bruins - Tyler Seguin (C, Plymouth (OHL)
3. Florida Panthers - Erik Gudbranson (D, Kingston (OHL)
4. Columbus Blue Jackets - Ryan Johansen (C, Portland (WHL)
5. New York Islanders - Nino Niederreiter (RW, Portland (WHL)
6. Tampa Bay Lightning - Brett Connolly (RW, Prince George (WHL)
7. Carolina Hurricanes - Jeff Skinner (RW, Kitchener (OHL)
8. Atlanta Thrashers - Alexander Burmistrov BURMISTROV (C, Barrie(OHL)
9. Minnesota Wild - Mikael Granlund (LW, Helsinki (HIFK)
10 New York Rangers - Dylan McIlrath (D, Moose Jaw(WHL)
11 Dallas Stars - Jack Campbell (G, USDT(USHL)
12 Anaheim Ducks - Cam Fowler (D, Windsor(OHL)

You'll like him. He's a defensive kind of guy and is excellent at coaching the little things that can really turn young players in to bonafide NHLers.

He'll be a good fit and the Bruins will miss him on their bench.

A lot of shocks in the draft today. I can't believe Fowler and Gormley fell out of the top 10.

At least we got Hall. First step towards making Edmonton a contender.

I hope he's one that will show some energy and encouragement behind the bench. The past two years with John Anderson had none of that...99% of the time he just stood there in silence, looking dumb as dirt.

Dallas drafts a goalie who they will probably end up trading for a bag of hockey sticks in a few years.

Awesome.....

:whatever:

He's not going to be a loud guy behind the bench. But as far as X's & O's and working with young players he will be fine.

Anyone interested in a 40 year old Mike Modano?

Detroit maybe? I would think he would go to a playoff team/contender. I wish the Sens would sign him for $2 million, would be better than Cheechoo.

Minnesota? Maybe bring it back full circle to where it all began if the price is right.

But yes, I could see Detriot making him an offer at a cheap price.

Although I think he'll just retire, he is a Michigan boy so it would be nice to see him finish his career in The D.

Always liked Modano. Being an American hockey player myself, he was always a guy I looked up to. When I was in high school I sent him a card to sign and he sent me back the card signed along with an 8x10 glossy photo also signed with a nice encouraging message on it. For all I know he never signed the thing and the North Stars PR guy did, but damn that made an impression with me. Guy was a class act all around and I hope he gets to go out on his own terms.
