"Wait, what's this? 'The Basement Awards'? Whatever happened to the Hype RPG awards?!"
Think of it as a change of scenery, folks. Nothing more.
Welcome, one and all, to the 2011 Basement Awards! Where we all collectively keel over and kiss butt, honoring our fellow RPers in a celebration of the year behind - in a tradition that helps us prepare for the year ahead. After proudly (yet angrily) hosting these awards ever since their inception, Byrd Man elected to drop out as master of ceremonies in order to be a lazy bast... er... save himself the work of once again tirelessly going through the many ballots. That's where I come in, as the next poor sap willing to take his place. Yay!
In regards to the year 2011, I think that many would agree that the RPG boards went through a bit of a revival. True, we haven't gotten quite back up to that level of posting frequency that established the games so well in their glory years, but we improved the hell out of the slump of an infamous 2010 drought that threatened the existence of our fair little corner of the boards. In celebration, let us honor the moments that keep us entertained!
Who will take home the glory this year?
Byrd Man's in-your-face gusto and militaristic approach in goading us on in ways that we've all learned to hate?
wiegeabo's incesscant knack for posting just to keep himself off of his own lists?
The recently returned twylight, who in her infinite need to write for only Dinah Lance, has us all yearning for the day that she can post as frequently as she used to?
Or maybe it'll even be Carnage27, who broke out onto the scene so hard in 2011 that he became the GM of the most successful RPG relaunch of the year.
Who knows?
Well eventually, you will. It's all up to you, good people. Choose wisely, and remember to never vote for yourself. Here are the categories:
Per tradition, this thread will remain open for one week, so that you can all have a chance to fill out your own ballots. Once that's done, I'll go through everyone's votes and come up with a final ballot to determine the winners of each category.
Since I won't be able to cast my own votes as host, you ****ers are gonna have to pick up my slack.
