🇺🇸 The 2024 U.S. Presidential Debate Thread

US News
I wonder sometimes why the media is so weak when facing Trump. They can drag him while in the studio but they get awfully soft once they meet him.

They’re afraid of him, just like most Republican politicians are afraid of him.

So I've got it all figured out.

If the Convicted Felon wins in November, I'm just going to say my goodbyes and move to Tibet.

My black job will be with my future fellow Buddhist brothers as a monk. After all the sinning I've done, I need to repent. :o

Hope they got good bagels over there.
I suggest NY Bagel & Deli. The fact that it's in West Los Angeles rather confounds me, but they do have great bagels, pastrami, etc. If you show up around 9 or so on a weekend, you can expect a line, but will have plenty of time for meditation and.or repentance. I pretty much call that a win win...

Oh no, Biden seems too old for another full term. Should have handed over the torch for this one. US politics could do with some younger voices.

It might actually be because when people say Trump is a terrorist leader it isn't an exaggeration.

Trump is (albeit dumb) Lex Luthor. He doesn't and rarely gets his hands dirty, he influences his stooges to do it for him.

"Stand back and stand by." While Trump is dumber than Lex, there's no way he doesn't know that he can get his cult to do any dirty deeds he wants them to just by planting the seeds for it.

News outlets and the media should just bring Robert DeNiro on board continuously since he's actually tough, takes no nonsense, and has no problems treating these lowlives like they need to be.

Bookies had Trump as the favourite to win the election before the debates, a fair bit wider now. :csad:

I was thinking Canada, myself.

At least their leader just did brownface and supplied arms for the Saudis to attack Yemen.

Justin apologized for his past, seems sincere, and he’s hot. He literally looks like a Disney Prince. Plus Trump is a billion times worse in all categories.

He didn’t gain followers or lose any, which is good for him. People’s confidence in Biden will be shaken after seeing this.

One debate in late June isn’t going to matter for Biden in the long run. More people are going to tune into the election after Labor Day and as I said previously— the period between now and then is an eternity in politics.

People keep underestimating President Biden at their own peril. The first debate for incumbent Presidents are usually terrible and the second one they’re much better.

Jamaal Bowman being anti-genocide and feeling the AIPAC's wrath.

That’s not what sunk Bowman and you know it. He acted like a clown and ignored and played down 10/7 to the significant portion of Jewish voters in his district.

Summer Lee was able to thread the needle with Jewish voters in her district and win her primary. Bowman failed to do that. AIPAC was just the nail in his congressional coffin.

Watched a lot of the "highlights" this morning & that was a hard watch. Much harder than our own Prime Minister debate which was a few days ago.

Joe Biden seemed to constantly lose his train of thought, made little to no sense for the vast majority of the answers/responses he gave & there should be serious questions asked not only about him stepping aside as a candidate for another term (if that's even possible at this late point), but also about if he's physically & mentally equipped to stay in charge currently to even make it to the election if this is what he's like behind closed doors on a daily basis.

It seemed like Trump took pity on him & was aware of how nonsensical some of Biden's responses were judging by the looks he was giving him as he was talking & chose to bite his tongue rather than really turning the screw.

It doesn't seem like either of them are fit to lead, one because he's Donald Trump & the other because he just seems like he's no longer mentally & physically equipped to do the job without somebody basically watching over his shoulder or speaking for him.

Man, you guys are STILL melting down after one debate. Biden will remain the nominee— stop this nonsense about “oh we should replace him.”

If debates actually mattered in the presidential election cycles, then why didn’t Mondale, Kerry, McCain, et al win?

Obama had a bad first debate with Romney and he still won re-election.

That was hard to watch last night, i was talking with some friends as it was on and all said neither canditate looked good at all, think there were several fact checkers saying Trump lied 90% of the time he spoke, one friend said he isnt sure he would believe Trump if he said he was Trump, Biden looked unready, a couple friends said he looked like he couldnt figure out which lie he had to rebuke first as Trump was lying so much and so fast, no one won that last night, Biden looked horrible and Trump looked horrible to both for different reasons.
of the two Biden is still by far the best of the two, i never judge an election on debates, frankly if you dont know what these two are by now, then you have been living under a rock since 2016.
My friends and i were in agreement on things, first, America lost that debate last night, we learned nothing new about either, Trump only cares about Trump and didnt answer a single question last night, Biden, looked like he really didnt want to debate a felon, and reports if true say he wasnt feeling well last night but that could just be spin, but if our democracy has any chance left it has to be with Biden, he may not be the best candadiate the democrats could offer up, but we have to get passed one more try by Trump, basically be that gate keeper to keep democracy alive and let a new generation take over in 2028, the only other option is Kennedy and had his brain eaten by a worm.
I also dont buy the Biden is old BS, Trump is 77 and one big mac away from a corinary, he looks like an orange grimise from McDonalds, but ate more McDonalds than grimise.
I am not going to stop backing Biden as he is really the only hope we have of the 3 to keep our freedoms in place, Trump will absolutely turn this country into a police state/dictatorship and we will ever see another debate or election again, Ill take the 80 year old politican over the 77 year old felon/dictator wannabe anyday.

I’m not melting down, I’m taking the situation seriously. I know he’ll stay the nominee and that’s the problem. We didn’t see a capable candidate with a cold last night (he didn’t cough or sneeze once so I don’t believe that excuse), we saw a confused old man.

Yes, Obama had a bad first debate against Romney but it wasn’t a train wreck like this was. Did you see how Biden’s jaw was hanging open? That’s not just his reaction from some stupid thing Trump said. It’s the physical decline of an unhealthy octogenarian in the most stressful job on earth.

Will Biden do better in the next debate? I certainly hope so but that seems like a tall mountain to climb.

I will say debates really arent for republicans or democrats, its for the independant voters, and my brother this morning pointed out, several polls were taken of independent voters and they said Biden actually did ok, he answered the questions, said what he has done and what he will do if reelected, Trump did none of that, independant voters, such as myself arent interested in bluster, just answer the questions, and they felt Biden did that last night.

I certainly hope that is true and stays the case.

Nobodies STILL having a meltdown, I'd only watched the thing 5 minutes before I posted.

The fact that he likely will remain the nominee unless he removes himself is an issue. It's hard to make Trump look like the sensical person in a debate & Biden managed to do it with some of his responses.

There's having a bad debate & then there's what happened last night which was a complete disaster. I don't know how you'd measure how much the debates sway voters, but in 2024 when you've people who don't follow politics & will only see the lowlights of this sort of thing, I'd find it hard to believe it won't have any effect, particularly for those that were already sitting on the fence or didn't know where their vote was going prior.

They're both old. Noone's at their peak at 77/80 with a 4 year term ahead that hasn't yet started.
