🇺🇸 The 2024 Vice Presidential Debate Thread

US News
Kamala Harris isn't to blame for all that is wrong in the world, Vance.

I predict Vance's likability goes up (except with me). Still, the honesty factor didn't seem to favor Vance.

I don't think this debate changed anything.

Yeah, I don't think anyone who had made up their minds already changed it. Not sure any undecideds got swayed either. This wasn't a brawl like the last debate.

The first amendment let's Trump supporters kill anyone they want

A lot of Vance’s answers basically were either blaming Harris, using the example of his mom as a tool to garner sympathy, not answering the question or just saying “concepts of a plan” but with extra steps, but only came across as “good” because he “sounded smart”.

Walz actually gave specific answers and examples. Started a bit nervous, but gradually came into his own around the halfway point and maintained that for the rest of the debate. A lot of his strengths lie in the fact that he came across as more earnest and relatable, as well as having the edge on a lot of those later topics, like the housing crisis and ACA, due to having first-hand experience and personal investment in those issues. Vance floundered on those issues because he didn’t have that experience and had to come up with some imaginary examples and issues to make his points, or just gave vague non-answers.

In the end, though, I agree that this debate isn’t going to change the minds of people who were going to vote for their respective candidates.

Yeah, Walz had actual helpful answers while Vance bobbed and weaved.

Yeah.....pretty much like I saw it. Initially, I told my wife that I thought Tim was nervous, but it seeeed to clear pretty quickly.

Most people don't know this, but I was on the Grassy Knoll. I snuck out of class and flew there from California. It was really....Grassy and I really liked it. In fact, I bought the Grassy Knoll because I liked it so much.....

Oh didn't realise the debate was today. Missed it. I don't mind if it wasn't some big triumph, as long as it wasn't a disaster. Another risk event out the way IMO.

I'm sure it'll be on YouTube if you really wanted to catch it. Vance left the crazy at home so it wasn't as entertaining as Trump imploding.

Okay so most of Vance's background is "I benefited from socialism and look where I am now". And he's on the side that's against it.

Immigrants are the cause of the housing crisis, mass shootings, but not abortion. Got it.

We really need to recontextualize abortion. It's part of women's healthcare whether we like it or not. When you ban abortion you're interfering with a woman's right to healthcare. Abortion is an unfortunate thing. No one wants to have to make that choice, but life happens. And it's ultimately that woman's decision. Not the government. Not the states. It's a human right. Healthcare is a human right.

This is all my grandparent's fault......they should have just stayed in Mexico with the rest of the drug dealers, murderers, etc. etc. etc.

Population growth has actively slowed down the past 14 years versus previous decades. The census includes undocumented immigrants.

Vance also at the same time demands forced births and a new baby boom. Which contradicts his false scapegoating of immigrants for pricing. You can’t say there’s too many people while calling for more people to be made.
