The 4400

Well, here is the problem with Lost and why it felt... lost....

They did not quite not know how many seasons that ABC wanted them to have, so they had to drag their feet just a little to make sure they could sign a deal and finally know when the show would end.

4400 seasons can just answer all the questions by the end of the season, but also make a setup for the next one (if they even have one).

meh.... we all have set feeling on 'lost' it seems...

as for '4400', im kinda digging 'the marked' or whatever. should be interesting.

The marked is a cool idea, but it feels like the creators are padding to extend the series.

How so? The Marked feel like an extension of Kyle's sleepwalking assassination of Jordan and Matthew Ross' manipulation of events and Isabel Tyler being an agent meant to destroy the 4400 and everything else that indicates an ideological division in the factions of the future who are intent on manipulating the past. You've gotta admit, the "good guys" of the future had the 4400, which is so vastly bigger than anything the "bad guys" of the future have revealed so far; it makes sense that the "bad guys" might just be playing their cards closer to the vest and have bigger and better plots than what we've seen, to be revealed slowly as they become necessary. The Marked, along with Jordan and Shawn's new political battle for the minds of the 4400 and the perceptions of the world at large about the 4400, has reinvigorated my interest in the show after the recent string of 4400-of-the-week eps. They need more episodes like the two most recent ones, where they just toss the obligatory 4400-of-the-week and focus on the real meat of the show--the ongoing development of the characters' respective factions and their conflicts.

It just feels like they retroactively made that guy from last season a Markedman. Isabelle was this all-powerful destroyer sent by the future, but if they had these guys, why bother.

Because these guys are just normal people in normal bodies. They can manipulate the world with the Marked, but the world will only be manipulated by a handful of people so far. It's not like they can just eradicate the 4400 directly, either. That's where Isabelle came in--she was the fist of the Marked.

Also, Matthew's Markification may have been a retcon, but it's a retcon that makes perfect sense. We never did learn why he knew so bloody much about the future or the 4400 or anything that he knew so much about, and this now explains it in a perfectly reasonable way that gives rise to new story potential.

So you just KNOW someone we've been watching for a while now is going to end up being another of "The Marked"...I can see that twist coming...

Question is...who??

I'm thinking the new head of INTEC lady, Meghan Doyle. Did you see her reaction when Diana said that she's going to find out who else was in Africa at the time of the meeting of all 10 of The Marked?? She looked as if she was realizing just how close Diana is getting to revealing something damaging about her. She's CLEARLY part of it. So I say that she's on of "The Marked" and as head of INTEC she's put in a great place to keep tabs on the 4400 and those who are trying to help or stop them.

Diana MEANT to send that email to the higher-ups. She MEANT to get Tom admitted to that psych ward, so that he could be led to believe that he's being messed with. She's clearly doing what it takes to try to lead Tom and Diana off of the scent by being very unbelieving of it all.

That guy that died in his car? Meghan knew about him and could easily have called another one of The Marked's and had him dealt with, if she didn't do it herself.

That writer 4400 guy? How'd they find him? Meghan knew where Diana was keeping him. So she had him taken, did something to him to brainwash him into "admitting" he was making it all up, and made sure that Diana and Tom were there to see him do so.

So yes, my verdict is that Meghan Doyle, current head of INTEC, is in fact one of The Marked.

P.S. - For those of you who may have the episode downloaded, the reaction I'm referring to by Meghan Doyle is around the 31:15 mark.

^^ There was a question from Tom in the beginning of the season about her being appointed as the head of NTAC, when she's relatively young, and has no law-enforcement experience.

I don't exactly think she's one of "The Marked", though I won't be surprised if she is, but she may at least know about them, or be working for them.

Actually they need the 4400 of the week. But now that everyone knows the 4400 are working toward saving the world, so they need to better intergrate that 4400 of the week into the overall story. Like this Marked episode, the 4400 lead them to a very important plot point in the overall story. Or at least the first 4400, the god complex one, showed Jordan to be the badass hero that he is.

Yup, I spotted that reaction too. I wonder if they're trying to plant that idea for us however. It seemed a little obvious to me.

I don't know if Meghan is a Marked. If she is, she's a really, really good actress. She seemed pretty overcome by emotion when Shawn healed her dad.

Yeah, that would work.

I kept thinking Marco was one of the marked. it's like the filmmaker was writing the names, and the minute Marco walked out, he wrote his name, and ran away for his safety. plus, when he could've given them an explanation back at NTAC, a REAL explanation, Marco was right there with them, so he was afraid to tell them. Marco's the marked's mole inside NTAC, to keep tabs on what they're doing.

or maybe I'm just strechting. either way this episode was a big improvement, IMO.

That would be interesting, although it would also kinda suck. I like Marco. :(

I was glad to see a nice little awkward reference to Marco and Diana's relationship in there, too. This show seems to have a tendency to just forget or ignore interpersonal stuff from previous seasons, so it was nice that they included a mention of Marco and Diana's past.

Okay, so maybe it's just me, but I really really don't trust Isabelle...

Who's to say she doesn't have an ulterior motive with all of this?

Think about this: The entire "Heaven on Earth"/"These are the people who have to take the shot" deal is based on the assumption that Isabelle is telling the truth about what the book says...

What if those people are supposed to be the Marked?

Seems like an awful lot of names to be the Marked. There are only supposed to be ten Marked, aren't there?

10 versus 4400?

Maybe those are names who will be marked like Tom was... and Isbelle is setting them up to get the shot so they can be on the same level as the 4400.

I figured Isabelle had really reformed and Tom's name was on the list because promicin might be able to somehow expel a Marked of his or her future person. Or maybe just Tom will develop some sort of ability to allow him to break free of his Markedness. What else would giving Tom the shot really do, after all? He'd never choose to get it himself unless he really, really, really needed it, in which case he'd probably resent it and not really change, or it'd be forced on him, which would either kill him (which we know the future doesn't want) or make him hate Collier and his 4400 faction for going to such lengths and probably distrust all of the 4400s in general. But if the shot helped him overcome outright control from the very people that the shots are supposed to empower people to fight against in the first place, that might sway him more towards accepting the shots.

I do agree with Corpulent with alot. Isabell, despite what everyone wants to believe, has to be a reformed character for her to function in the plot. I kinda want something to happen between her and Kyle cause it wouldn't be one-sided this time, but from the previews it looks like she still has residual feelings for Sean and will be yet another item to come between Kyle and Sean.

I think Tom will take the promicin one way or another and then he'll probably become one of the Marked. He'll probablyy be the mole in the 4400 for the govntment or the people from the future, who I am being to think were created by Collier in some sort of reverse time plot thingy or something like it.

Btw, I am so happy that Sean's ***k got him in trouble...AGAIN! Isabell reminded people that she's only three years old and tried to make nice, futile, but good to see, and Maya learned how to really use her ability.

I'm still not counting out Richard. Here's hoping he still has a part.

I think if they really want Tom to take the shot in the show... next episode is the one for it. Trapped with everyone? He's going to find out his limits and fast... so either the end of that episode or the next one... he will hopefully be wondering about actually taking the shot.

Well, the fact that Kyle spilled the beans about his name being on that list should at least get him thinking about it. Poor Tom. He handled the realization that his son is now a religious fanatic really well.

Getting his ass kicked by a Darian Fawkes ripoff probably eased the blow.

Heh, at least Darian could move while invisible. Plus, Darian's "weakness" would actually help him in a fight.
