Now for Episode 5 of Ki-Adi-Liar...

Another disappointing episode. The reveal was predictable and because we didn’t spend enough time with the character beforehand, it didn’t carry any weight. But what really stood out is the horrendous dialogue and character logic.

Messy as usual, unfortunately, but the show really sings when doing action scenes. Those are a lot of fun. And Jacinto did a great job even as his monologues were... uneven. Good job playing against type.

I enjoyed it. Though it once again confirmed my belief that this should’ve been a binge release like Echo was. Even if that was completely out of the question to split last week and this weeks episodes was a big mistake imo.

Darth Bortles nearly saved the entire show on his own. I wasn't expecting such a sweaty anime villain, but he pulled it off beautifully. Also fantastic lightsaber action.

Nothing else makes sense but I'm happy Hot Jedi is dead.

Villain reveal was incredibly obvious, but Jacinto played the hell out of it. Genuinely impressed by his performance. Did not expect ol' Jason from the Good Place could pull it off that well!

Twin switcheroo was dumb (the great Jedi can't detect that they're dealing with a different person???). Dialogue is still atrocious.

That said, this was the best episode yet. The action was awesome, and Jason killed it (and Yord, thank the maker!!!).

Now excuse me while I continue to recover from THE MOST DRAMATIC HAIRCUT OF ALL-TIME! :hehe:

On the plus side. With the massacre, Squid Games and Jason can now just carry the show with their acting.

Though I'm so confused why Jedi seemingly have no idea what a Sith is. Every Jedi in the PT knew. Even if they hadn't seen one in generations. Yoda and Mace were talking about the Rule of 2 and Qui-Gon knew what Maul was on sight.

Jacinto and Jung-jae are carrying this show hard. They should've been the sole leads. Jacinto in particular has really impressed me with his dramatic depths, particularly in this episode. He's been straddled with some truly wretched monologues, but his delivery makes them sound cool.

On the whole, the first two thirds are the best 20 minutes of the show thus far, and arguably the best non-Andor SW tv. Not particularly a fan of how some of the mechanics of Jacinto's armor works, but the action was incredibly well choreographed. The writing is still very bad, but this is the first time in a while I've genuinely been surprised with choices made. The reveal of Darth Bortles was obvious, but him killing Hot Jedi and X-23 was not something I expected, so I applaud them for that especially since these deaths seem like they'll be committed to.

The worst characters of the show continue to be the leads. Osha and Mae suck. None of the choices they make have any rhyme or reason. I don't want to say anything overly negative about Stenberg because she's clearly trying, but she just either doesn't have the range to elevate the awful dialogue she's given, or she's being directed in such a boringly stilted way.

Considering the dramatic heights this episode reached, it really felt like a conclusion that is being extended for no good reason. These next three episodes better be good because as of now it seems like they're just useless fluff to get back to where we just were before Team Rocket blasted off.

I mean, in TPM. only council level Jedi seem to talk about it. While Qui gon wasn't on the council, Obi-wan did say he could have been. So, I guess, before the confirmation on their return, it is just one big of historical data that masters may need to know.

They teach about the dark side. There is no way they don't teach about the Sith. Jedi are fanatical about it. Obi-Wan wasn't surprised by the idea of a Sith lord and he was a padawan.

If Sith info is council business only, Qui-Gon not being on the council matters in that regard.

Good episode lot of Jedi action which is what I liked. the writing is weak imo and doesn’t use logic. Have a feeling Sol killed osha/maes folks we’ll see how it ends hopefully next episodes r as good as this one was

I liked Jason's brutality this episode. The fights are a highlight on this show and the way he disposes of Jecki and Yord genuinely took me by surprise, especially just straight up snapping the latter's neck. He's got such good presence.

Still as cringy as ever. And sorry but I just can't buy Jason Mendoza as a Sith lord. And I still can't believe its exactly who we thought it was. What a mystery.

Do the writers even realize how deep in the lore they are here? Timeline wise this guy should be Darth Plagueis' master. And they still have to explain why the Sith haven't been seen in 1000 years. They better have some damn good explanations and I hope its not Jedi coverups.

Or the master of Darth Palgueis' master. Or maybe Darth Plagueis themselves.

Sith Lords come in quite the variety. He just needed to be a good villain and I think he pulled that off beautifully. Was kind of shocked by how good it was.

Yeah, Darth Bortles crushed it in this episode. Dude got JACKED for this role too, damn. And the fight choreography was fantastic. I was also shocked that both Yord and Jecki bit the dust.

It is pretty dumb that Sol can’t figure out that Mae switched places with Osha. I also don’t understand how Bortles’ mask can keep Jedi from reading his mind but somehow he was able to invade Yord’s mind while wearing it. Eh, I’m not going to worry about it. Just give me more Bortles slaughtering Jedi and I’m good.

I'm not going to go as far as calling this a great episode or anything because I still have a lot of problems with the writing and the dialogue, but the lightsaber fights were pretty awesome.

The choreography was really solid, and I also have to admit that I'm pretty impressed with just how much screen presence and physicality Manny Jacinto had throughout this episode.

I actually bought him as a genuine threat and the little hand to hand fight he had with Lee Jung-jae was cool too but man the lack of characters that I actually care about is still a BIG problem for me.

This episode definitely showed the potential of this show IMO.
