The Acolyte from Leslye Headland

Good riddance.

This and the Bad Batch are the only SW-related media that I've missed since I became a fan when I was 6 years old back in 1999. Reading synopsis for both of these made me feel I made the right decision. The Acolyte plot... yikes.

Hopefully this prompts to make a good Star Wars show again as a beloved franchise such as this should be treated better.

The Acolyte merchandise being pulled from Disney's online store is especially wild when you consider there were more action figures made for it than there were for The Rise of Skywalker.

The Bad Batch was awesome.

I haven't seen the show yet, was waiting until a season 2 then was gonna binge it. But guess I can watch it now. Are there any High Republic characters from the comics or books in the show? I thought I saw Burryaga in a trailer, not sure if it was though. I haven't read much from high republic but I know a couple characters.

Vernestra Rwoh is the only character from the The High Republic project. Kind of clear why they didn't make the wookiee Burry.

Who knows, maybe Geode was in the background.

To be fair, they don't really sell action figures on the Disney Store. Most low quantities and usually Parks exclusives. Most often, Black Series. I think I've seen 3 3/4 inch on there, but am not sure.

You can find the figures on Amazon and Entertainment Earth easily.

And on shelves at Target for years to come, I'm sure. It'll be Eternals all over again. :o

How do I know America is still racist? Because there is always an old selection of POC black series characters and nothing else at Target. :weeping:

Well, Keanu certainly dodged a bullet. Tragic that Trinity didn't, though. Still, if this is true, I'd recommend that he steer clear of the exploding Death Star that is Star Wars right now.

I’m glad this didn’t happen. We already have Reeves playing an emotionless, superhuman fighting machine in one series that will never end (trust me, John Wick 5 is coming eventually). I would love to see him join the Star Wars universe at some point but only if he plays a less serious, more Han Solo-esque kind of character. I think his best role of the past 20 years and maybe his entire career was Johnny Silverhand in Cyberpunk 2077. I would love to see him being that kind of lovable A-hole energy to a Star Wars project. Just don’t make him another boring Jedi. I need a break from actors turning off all their charisma to do a Hayden Christiansen impression.

I'm sorry, but I think she's wrong.
I'm a female. I have relatives and friends who are gay, friends who are POC. Those who saw The Acolyte didn't like it because it wasn't very good. It wasted the likes of Carrie Ann and Dafne, the budget did not show on screen and parts of it, such as the Power of One scene, were embarrassingly awful.
It's a shame because it had the potential to have been great.

I don't think it's really a subjective matter. Yes there was a ton of hate from alt right people for all the wrong reasons, but had the show performed better it would hardly matter. Numbers didn't start strong, it was the second worse debut for any Disney Star Wars show, but then they declined each week even further. Which means people saw it and didn't like it. I get she's bitter because of toxic fandom but let's not alter reality here and put all blame on those people to hide the fact that the show wasn't good.

Is she even saying that the show was cancelled because of the hate? Just that she’s not surprised because of it. The show had a lot of problems but let’s face it the hatred they received was completely and totally unjustified. There was a lot of bigotry there that came out in the treatment of the stars and especially Leslye who got vilified a lot. It sucks that this is the state of the fandom culture these days.

I was a 'reylo', and you would not believe the hatred we got. And not just from fans....Medium news outlet described reylo as a 'white supremacist ship', which is completely unfair. I used to have contact with many reylos on tumblr (many have deactivated their accounts now, sadly) and there were plenty of POC, gay and male fans. We were a broad church! But I was shocked to see some younger fans forced off because of the appalling flak they got. And not just sneers but death threats, which opened my eyes to how terribly toxic people can be. I wish they would realise that at the end it was just a story.

These days?

It’s certainly gotten worse, but remember back in 1999 when fans were ruthless to an 8 year old boy and an up-and-coming stage actor playing a CGI character. Remember in 2002, when fans were ruthless to a young up-and-coming Canadian actor doing his first big movie.

Fandom has always been pretty awful.

From what I've observed, in these types of issues, especially with ships, no side is truly innocent. Ship what you want, whatever. But do understand that criticism will come when you are advocating for the Star Wars equivalent of Harley/Joker.
