Really can't get stronger feelings than disappointment from me. Having gone through my "Star Wars is dead to me" phase before the Disney buyout, I guess I can't really get upset when Star Wars is bad. I mean, I even mostly enjoyed Resistance.
About 75% of it played out as I expected. Osha was going to turn and become the Acolyte, killing Sol. Sol getting the blame for the deaths.
The Sol/Qimir fight was great, keeping the action good. And there was some interesting music going on.
I think the clear setting for a season 2 is frustrating. The resolution of Mae and Qimir killing Jedi resolved how I expected it to, how they got there, while also setting up a season 2 is frustrating. And while I do see a more practical Verne, still clearly making her cover things up is kind of rough. Especially since its a cover up after revealing another cover up.
Keeping both twins alive is a mistake. I love Stenberg, and don't place the issues with their characters on them too much, but I don't think it is working. And when shows have the budget that this one has, I have slightly higher expectations on doing same actor in different places scenes. I am not expecting Maslany level acting, but the tech and techniques used in Orphan Black are still available.
And for the two big glup ****tos, yeah, I knew they couldn't resist Yoda. As for Plagueis, It is the worst kind of glup ****to. Just tossing him there, with no context of what he is. A creeping Nosferatu creature in a cave does not narrow things down in Star Wars. The ONLY clue you have of what he is, is his eyes. And let me tell you, any GA still watching are not paying that close attention to see the Sith eyes. Again, crumbs for season 2 and for hardcore fans, but just confusing in terms of storytelling. On the plus side, seeing him as a Noserfatu creature made me realize just how much damage Stover's banker Hugo Damask did to my image of Plagueis, so at least this glup ****to made me think of him as a creepy Sith Lord again..
I think my greatest disappointment of the episode was the bleeding of the kyber crystal. It is one of my favorite additions to the lore of Star Wars. And while visually, the glimpse of the crystal flickering colors and the blade changing color was fine, the scene itself just did not do it justice. The big choice had already been made, she killed Sol. And we get no indication of what is going on with Osha as the crystal is changing. Hell, Qimir isn't even goading her on. No great musical ques that I remember. Somebody needed to be talking as the transition happened. Jedi Survivor made it clear what was happening, without explaining what bleeding a kyber crystal was.
