The actor that could've been Gambit!

Eww, I'm happy Gambit wasn't ruined by being in X-3 and being played by him. His acting isn't great either.

They never had auditions.

Actually, they did. There were a few actors up for the role. This guy, Josh Holloway (who turned it down)...

Gambit was going to be in the film, and they were looking for actors to play him, but they eventually cut the role after, what the writers said, they couldn't find a good enough role for him :whatever: :whatever: :whatever: :whatever:

coming from those writers, it doesnt surprise me that they cant find good roles. Im glad Gambit wasnt in X3. I prefer not seeing him than seeing a ****ty version of the cajun.

Okay...

You have 4 posts and a register date of this month.

I've been on these forums during the entire production of this movie. I was here before even Vaughn was signed on. So um... yea, I think I know what I'm talking about.

You're rating my intelligence on four posts?

Thank the matrix! This forum still hasn't changed.

This deal has no history in studio system. It does not exist.

As much as I'm annoyed Gambit didn't really appear in the films; at the same time I have a horrible feeling he would've been made too young, screwed up, sidelined, miscasted and shoved into the back (like Rogue was) just to make Wolverine look like the Superman of the x-men!:o I'm saying even if he had a pretty big role he wouldn't have been any different from Cylcops (who was sissified) and Iceman (who was sissified and dehumored). And then people would've been debating he was NOT truly Gambit/Remy, he was just some imposter using the same name and powers. This shows the moviemakers would've put him in b/c of popular demand. NOT b/c they cared about him.

I think we need an unknown for Gambit, sort of like Hugh Jackman was for Wolverine. He's a character that needs someone who fits him physically and can authenticate the virtuoso eccentricity of the character, a necessary component that has formulated the character into the popular icon he is.

For me, Josh Holloway IS Gambit. But he won't be able to do it as long as he's on Lost. :csad:

No, I'm not questioning your intelligence, I am saying I think I know what I'm talking about when I've been around following this entire production and you've been around for a matter of days.

everyone keeps saying Holloway was up for the role but i really doubt he was..and even os i think he's to old to play gambit

He was up for the role, but he turned it down.

I believe it was something like, he wasn't ready to take the role of such a vital, pivotal character or something like that.

It's rumored that is one reason why he was cut, because he was the guy they wanted, they couldn't get him, so they cut the role altogether.

So apparently the only source of information on this movie is this forum? Across the whole Internet, this was the only place from which one could could keep tabs on the project?

Do you realize how silly that sounds, Nell?

No, but I think that people who have been around as long as yourself and myself, and have been following this production since day 1, know a little bit about what went on, don't ya think?

In some pics he looks like Gambit, but in others not.

But anyway I see him a little old now, or is his face... looks so mature for the role... don't know if is because seems a little fat in some pics..

But here it is a manip with a good pic of him:

He kinda looks the part, but I've never seen him in a movie, so I can't judge his acting. Holloway would've been great for the part, but I agree that he's too old, specially to be a romantical interest for Rogue, and a competitor to Iceman. That would look weird. :p

I'm glad he isn't in X3. We probably would've gotten him dressed in leather and tatooed all over. He'd be seen standing around in the background, and then get desintegrated by Phoenix in the final battle. :o

I've seen him in "A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints" and he was good in the part of the brutish guy from the block.

1) His acting wasn't all that great in the movie I seen him in, but he looks good for the role. Of course I would need to see other options.

2) TheHag, how do you know the audition was fake? Got some resource?

3) I don't know if it's just me, but that dudes eyes look like they can be fit into the drak red kinda thing like Remy in the comics.

I wasn't questioning that. I was questioning the fact that you suggested that TheHag inherently knows less about the movie than you do on account of his postcount.

Which is an incredibly silly thought. For all you know, he knows far more about the movie than you, postcount notwithstanding.
