The Adventures of Tintin

Zemeckis never had a definitive visual reference for Beowulf. Tintin's look, on the other hand, has already been established.

It's like when they do live action versions of cartoons/comics even though the character originally is simplisticly drawn. Tintin probably won't have the tiny dot eyes or extreme cowlick as he's drawn, but he'll look somewhat photoreal to an extent. I'm just curious as to how he's going to look, as if they plan on going the hyperreal Beowulf route or the Monster House route.

why god why!

I think there's something whimsical about Tin Tin that it should be cartoony. Not cheap like Blue Sky (Ice Age) but cartoony in a Pixar way.

I get the feeling it's going to look like Beowulf/Polar Express, only with the character's trademark features somewhat.

well...at we least we two of the greatest directors working on this. I think it could bring back that old 80s magic of harmless fun and adventure.

I have a feeling like Zemeckis would like to chime in with the third film. I really want Zemeckis to get back with live action though...

considering that they're using Cameron's technology (which has been touted as being fully photorealistic) they'll probably make the look of the film realistic (or at least SEMI-realistic). however, i can see them retaining Tintin's signature eyes by giving him real eyes that look dotty from a far.

image if they ARE going for a realistic look but THEY keep the dot eyes. Wouldn't that be weird and Jim Cuminghamish?

I think Spielberg or Jackson said ''Cartoon figures with pores'' or something like that. But maybe I'm wrong.

Peter Jackson said:
we're making them look photorealistic; the fibers of their clothing, the pores of their skin and each individual hair. They look exactly like real people --but real Hergé people!

There ya go.

I smell Shia LaBeouf as TinTin. He just finished shooting EagleEye and he hasn't anything else lined up before "Y:the last man" gets greenlit.
Well, maybe Transformers 2.

god i love tin tin... these two directing it should be great.

haha Simon Pegg would be quite good...though I think he may be a little too old for the part...I'm not sure lol.

But yeah...that choice isn't too bad. :)

Thomas Sangster Cast as Tintin?

17-year-old Thomas Sangster (Nanny McPhee, Love Actually) has been cast to play comic book hero Tintin in the trilogy of performance capture films to be directed by Steven Spielberg and Peter Jackson, according to the Daily Mail.

Sangster, from South London, has already been to Los Angeles to work on pre-production test sequences with both directors.

He'll be joining Andy Serkis, who has been cast as Tintin's sidekick Captain Haddock.

Filming on the first story involving Tintin begins in the fall, with Spielberg directing. Peter Jackson will direct the second movie.

At the end of this month, Sangster begins working with Oscar-winning director Jane Campion on her film Bright Star, a love story with Ben Whishaw and Abbie Cornish portraying John Keats and his lover Fanny Brawne.

Tintin is not a kid...

He isn't that bad of a choice, though I would have pictured someone much different.

when making a CGI character it doesnt matter how you loko but how you act.

I think they're going with the fact that while Tintin is a grown man, he has a very boyish look and persona. Or they could just be making him a late teenager.

When I read the TinTin books in elementary school I always thought of him as no older than in his mid to late teens.

I never once got the impression he was a "grown man".

Just a possible sample of how they might do a mo-cap version of Mario and Homer. :o I don't even wanna see Tintin if this is the result.

you can not use a 100% cartoon designe and realistic texture. homer looks ugly.

Yeah, I know. When they were saying they were going to do Herge's designs with actual pores and realistic tones, this is what made me think of it.
